Doug is doing the public a great service by educating the public on the very foundations of a sound financial plan. Yes, the insurance industry has great political power and they make money. Who would want insurance from a company that doesn't make money? The tax laws for which that the industry lobbies benefit the educated consumer in a huge way. Too bad more people don't understand. The term "financial advisor" is a misnomer since the overwhelming majority focus on investments with little understanding of how to include tax-advantaged life insurance in the mix.

Ok, I thought there were only two (2) kinds of ins. Term & Whole Life. Now, I understand it’s Universal Life that’s the real winner here if you can find someone who understands and can structure it correctly for you.

Good advice Mr. Andrews. I spoke with a IUL agent today and he advised me not to start a IUL policy unless its solely for death benefits. This didn't appear to be correct. And I notice he sent a illustration without me giving him any details of what I wanted. So I think he is more commission driven and something about him didn't feel right when I was observing him on ring central.

If someone new to having an IUL starts with a modest policy, is it a good idea to get an extra term policy to help to increase coverage until more can be saved in the IUL to make it most valuable?

Doug, I just have one question that I can’t figure out myself.
Where do we find a whole life insurance policy? I want to go and walk in somewhere and sit down and go over with someone so I can start one because I’ll be an investor by the end of 2022.
I live in Chicago land Area.
Learn more about whole life insurance you’ll have to restructure it so you can get both benefits. Watch Dave Ramsey on whole life insurance understand the factors. That’s my advice to you.
Doug how do you know if the agent is structuring your IUL and funding it properly?
I have reached out to an insurance agent asking term life quote, they gave a quote that will need over 85,000/- payment for 30 years term, and there are no returns in term insurance 😮
If cash value exceeds the maximum tax actuarial reserve set by Canada Revenue Agency, death benefit is no longer tax exempt. The insurance policy becomes a taxable endowment.

I know not of an IUL that has 0% floor and no cap. The cap is usually15%. How else do insurance companies make money?
The insurance companies primarily make their money through the mortality charges for the death benefit.

It can work for someone in their 60s! The main thing to keep in mind is the design of the policy.

I don't know if any legal reserve life insurance company that has not paid a death claim going back well over 100 years now. I like to look at companies that have comdex scores of at least 70 or higher. I love companies that have comdex scores of 90+.
