I guess being a level 0 esper is like getting a participation trophy.
A correction Gemstones are NOT born with their powers they simply at some point in their lives get a Personal Reality via environmental pressure as opposed to AC's artificial conditions, that's why they are nicknamed gemstones, in reference how natural diamonds just don't turn out the same as ones found in the wild, but both are based on the sane materials going through as external process to transform them.
I don't remember saying that, I said Touma was born with IB which is true. If I did say Gemstones are born with their powers then that was an accident.
This is one of my fav To Aru theories ever and there was a lot more proof that could support this theory in NT22R.

In NT22R when Anna and Aiwass are talking about Touma and KnT this line is bought up:
“Reminds me of the Fool in tarot.”
“Oh, now that is a nice observation. Well done. Come to think of it, there are different factions split over the decision of where in the other 21 cards that #0 card should go. And depending on that, the exact same arrangement of cards on the table can have entirely different meanings.”
She stopped jumping rope and let out an oddly heated breath.
And then she spoke.
“The important part here is that Crowley cut off the right hand first.”
She folded the jump rope in half, held it in one hand, and then spun around on the spot.
“That is more important than the formless memories. In other words, he was healed and his brain’s network was reconstructed based on the assumption that the lack of his right hand’s power was his proper state.”
“Then what about his leftover right hand?”
“Yes, that is the question. His entire body seemed to be fully healed, but just as the rest of you are vastly overemphasizing, he did not appear to regain his past. So where did it go? Couldn’t the two unnecessary parts have gathered together instead of going off in separate directions?”
She wiped the sweat from her brow and then grabbed the jump rope in both hands once more.
“Forcing yourself never ends well. You will always pay some kind of price. Magic God Othinus did not show much restraint, but even she never messed with Kamijou Touma’s head, such as directly altering his personality.”
“He was already in an unstable state.”
“And Coronzon’s repeated severings must have pushed it over the edge.”
“The wandering #0, hm?”
In this case, #0 did not refer to the right hand or that born from it.

Kamijou looked down at his body.
That right arm was a bizarre thing of sky-blue and lemon-yellow at the moment.
Meanwhile, Fortune provided no excessive support and casually licked the salt from her fingers. She retained the flat attitude of someone simply giving impartial advice.
“What’s happening here might be related to all that. For one thing, a severed arm reattaching is in no way normal. Let’s hope you’re not in a state like a deck of tarot cards gathered randomly after being scattered across the floor.”
“So the order would be all jumbled up? Reminds me of #0 The Fool.”
Qliphah Puzzle 545 spoke up (while being very cautious of the boob grabber seated at the same table), but Academy City’s #1 said nothing.
As always, his stance was to not worry about a problem until he could actually find an answer.
Fortune nodded at the comment from the translucent demon with a similar but different structure to herself.
“That’s true. The topic of tarot usually goes back to Waite, but that one annoying card still gets argued about a lot. I think it was Gébelin who put it at the very start before Waite did. Levi put it between #20 and #21 and Westcott gave it the final #22 position. Depending on the theory followed, the Fool can go anywhere between The Magician and The World in the Major Arcana and even at the very, very end after the Minor Arcana as well. It’s the wandering #0 and it almost seems like it’s traveling the world. No one can say where it should go. A-and to be clear, this isn’t just me being inexperienced. Not even Crowley knew when making his Thoth Tarot!!”
Dion Fortune was saying this and she was apparently made from tarot.
The person who widened her eye at this was Othinus, the understander who was always supporting Kamijou in the field of magic.
“Traveling…? Hold on, is that what you’re talking about!?”
“Ahem. Imagine Breaker itself apparently moves between people and things from one era to the next. It seems to have stuck with you pretty persistently, but it always could have moved elsewhere once your right hand was destroyed, right? Right now, both versions of you have a body and an ability. This is not about morality or superiority. You both view the other as a hopeless fool and feel you must immediately take back what they have. And in the end, that includes their very existence. Couldn’t you think about it like that?”
“But the power to negate supernatural things went to him.”
His tone dropped a little. That monster saw him as the fool. From this Kamijou’s perspective, the other one had picked a fight with him and then stolen everything from him, but he may have been thinking back to see if he could think of anything he might have done to the other one.
“(Honestly, the very fact that he’s suddenly standing on equal footing with you is illegitimate. It might look fair, but it isn’t at all.)”
“?”
Dion Fortune shrugged her shoulders in exasperation at how unreliable that boy was even though this was his life they were talking about.
“From the look of things, that ability really was completely taken away, but who can really say if what he has is the complete and whole Imagine Breaker? He might be missing something just like your sky-blue arm is. Although he might not even be aware of it. And that pink light you saw flashing from him certainly isn’t normal, is it? At the very least, I’ve never heard anything about that from the things I’ve read related to Blythe Road where the exorcism spiritual item was kept.”
“Both of us are… the wandering #0…”
Kamijou looked down at his right arm.
He looked at that bizarre arm colored in sky-blue and lemon-yellow.
“Then what about that weird lizard… or dragon? Whether or not it’s missing anything, is the sky-blue or the shocking pink the right color for it!?”
Lastly in one of RL Aleister's books, the colours linked to the Fool Tarot card are: Yellow, Sky blue, and Emerald Green..Sound familiar?

When I hear the word Fool Tarot Card I think of the web novel The Lord of the Mystery and I thank you might like it.
Love those theory crafting videos. I have suspected the same myself for a while when it comes to Touma's ranking. There is plenty there to hypothesize and draw reasonable conclusions from those little bits of bread crumbs that are spread about through the series. Touma is far to convenient, used far too much, and way to involved for it to be simply mere coincidence as a whole. As sneaky, conniving, and underhanded as Allister can be I think it almost screams that Touma is that Zero. Time will tell. Unfortunately, "Time" is also our worst enemy. The longer it takes to reveal all, the more concerning it is that something may happen to cut it all short and not get everything wrapped up or revealed.
Considering the way Aleister talked about the #0 level 5 so casually, it seems he’s pretty much saying that person already exists. I have a theory that Touma has this rank already or will gain it at the end of the series.
Reason why: Touma defeated Accelerator and also most importantly Aleister likely made this a rank that no one can know or achieve and that this person will deal with magic side attacks that decide to attack Academy City.
Again Aleister’s conversation with Stiyl kind of implies it since he considers him a joker. Also in NT22R Anna pretty much implies this as well. Touma can defeat the strongest characters with broken abilities in the verse but get his ass whoop by weak fighters in terms of combat.
I hope my man Touma does achieve this rank even if he hasn’t. After all it suits him, a mere level 0 with a ability that isn’t magic or science related.
What if Accelerator and others Touma defeated were expert in hand to hand combat? You think Touma would have lost if the enemys were physically stronger and better fighter without power?
Yes he would definitely lose against some one with superior combat but since like everyone here uses there hax they dont need combat training its basically giving the skilled player the greatest counter against a bunch of p2w players

I think Aleister might have brought Touma to the Windowless building around the time he arrived in Academy City to do something to Imagine Breaker. Of course I feel like he would have had Anti Skill bring a young Touma to him personally.
I always like to think that the whole regeneration is Touma's esper ability since the whole AIM field was made using magic or something like that by Aleister also the previous user of Imagine Breaker couldn't heal his arm after being severed and the whole sealing it in a pod before Aleister used it to kill his old friends.
It also makes sense to me why when Touma and Saint Germain have to switch with each other while Saint Germain uses Carbon magic/Diamond magic Touma suffers a lot he still survived the effect of using magic and Imagine Breaker while suffering the effect of AIM field and magic interacting with each other if we have seen other user using magic like Accelerator or Motoharu they need someway to heal themselves either through auto rebirth healing effect or blood manipulation by using vector to control the blood flow around it making it possible for the user to use magic also making the whole diamond exoskeleton for Touma doesn't really heal him from the magic side

Nah. Touma is actually the fabled Level 6. He's a transcendent being who, as his name suggests, has the power to purify God and exorcise the Devil, and has even developed a form of precognition through years of combat experience. No wonder the system scans can't detect nor register his powers, much less assign an accurate power level. Oh, and let's not forget his ability to capture the hearts of nearly every young woman he comes across. He's not the so-called God of pestilence his neighbors accused him of being in his youth. He's the God of womanly heartthrobs thanks to him being the primary vector of Kami Disease (most commonly transmitted via a manly punch to the face)!😂
What keeps eating my head is that it was what Touma saw when index uses [holy land of Saint George] where Touma says why is there something like that there, this happens in chapter 10 of the manga

4:30. I always wondered why he called Misaka "Aleister's Favorite" If she was his favorite wouldn't she be ranked as the top level 5 in Academy City 🤔 🤷♂️. That statement Gensei makes never made sense to me so I just figured he was referring to something that was in the Mangas or LN's that weren't in the anime. Since their are events that happen that are not in the anime 🤷♂️.

Random Hot Take: The English Voice Actor of Touma and the Voice Actor of Macbeth (Midnight) from Fairy Tail is the same guy (Micah Solusod). Can be a coincidence but the magic of Midnight and the Touma's Imagine Breaker are VERY similar...
I think IB is sealing his other powers cause they only come out when his arm gets severed and i think those power aren't connected to IB and they are tomas esper powers i think he is the level 6
I honestly put more weight on the Rank Zero being the Beginning Child tbh. An Esper who is widely considered to be on par with a Level 5 strength-wise but that has never been formally tested under the modern Power Ciriculum being the prototype then going on ice before they could do so, would fit the criteria of an "unofficial" Level 5 you outlined.
Her being in the position as the 0th Level 5 would also make sense from a pure rank perspective as the Ranking of Level 5's is meant to be dependent on the worth of their abilities to ongoing research rather than based on the relative strength of their power and as she served as the base from which the modern Power Curriculum was derived technically *all* research involving Espers is ongoing research based upon her abilities, hence her positioning in the Oth slot as something both above but also separate from the Numbered Level 5's.
It all lines up for me but I would love to hear others opinions on the matter.

So if Touma is secretly a level 5, in fact number zero, is Alister allowing Touma to participate in all these incidents his version of the program to create a level six? Accelerator needed to kill Misaka one or two hundred times or twenty thousand level three clones to evolve but that wouldn't work for Touma's power. If so the fact he developing a form of precog abilities hints that it could be working especially if his real esper powers are some form of precognition.
Here's basically a crack theory that has a bit of merit if the entity inside imagine breaker is indeed Hadit which is basically a god of pure world if I am correct and since magic gods science equivalent is a level 6. Then does that mean touma is a level 6 since he basically has a magic god of pure world aka esper.
While Touma can be the strongest level 0 esper, he is definitely not someone with any real esper power if he loses his right. Whatever is inside him, whatever is the right hand, whatever technique he learns or whatever knowledge he gains, the esper powers rules makes him unable to do anything without formulas and calculation far above his mind.
That said, Touma fights against other low level espers or physical foes are irregular at best. He can lose a head on fight to someone just a bit better trained the same as he can get his blood loss body to defeat a full trained adult.
To be honest I don't think even Crowley know everything about Touma and his power but I wouldn't be surprise if Aiwass does because even now he is clearly still hiding things from everyone. Even hiding stuff from Anna because he didn't tell her that Crowley was still alive at the end of NT 22 which Crowley even bring up. Even this bird form of his is likely not his final form but it seen that how much of his power that a contractor had will determine his form . Likely if someone even more powerful then Anna was his contractor, his form would change again, likely too something even more powerful.
Also I wouldn't be surprise if there were some crazy scientists who did want to do weird experiment with Touma and IB but Crowley took care of anyone who try to. Just like I have a theory that the so call greatest Taboo of AC that was in GT 3, is a fake out that Crowley was using to kept the dark side away from all the true Taboo of AC. That if anyone in AC touch on, will be kill by Crowley or more likely Kihara Noukan. Who I think was basely the grim reaper of AC that Crowley had take care of people who touch the true taboos of AC and people who break away from his control like the 72 requests that Nouken had to do and was bring up in NT 11 that refuse to regroup after Crowley return. Also I wouldn't be surprise if the 72 requests started at the end of WWIII Arc and went till the end of NT 11.
What about dragon shell?
It is a power that manifested after the complete removal of imagine breaker. So if he had an esper power that was surprised by magic breaker, he couldn't use it. But if imagine breaker was removed, the suppression on his esper power would be removed as well.
And that is when dragon shell has manifested.

I am pretty sure it does. In the Agitate Halation(NT 7), it said that the project lured Touma despite not having a AIM field like the other espers

@@AeonofHorus well, considering the geometric core structure is a hallmark of an AIM burst and the dragon shell manifested in place of imagine breaker, you can sort of see where the potential for theorycrafting regarding Touma’s ESPer power might crop up.
Naturally there is the caveat that the dragon shell was explained to be what was left of the power of imagine breaker, but its not like Kamachi hasn’t outright lied to us before in his prose, so…

Touma is it depends on if he uses his full power and who's he fighting I don't think he would get serious against zapper
I believe that Aleister using magical concepts to create espers and science angels is no different than mages using math to create magic circles.
Scientists using magical concepts are an unusual sight, because magic is hidden from the world. At the same time, since science is widely available, magicians using scientific concepts are a common sight.
I'm not very good with magic but something like that was right? Using math to draw magic circles.
Oh well.

As an anime only, I just wanna ask a question. Why is there almost no adult espers if academy city has existed for so long? People grow up and eventually become adult. Is the mass production of esper children a more recent thing or do espers somehow lose powers when they become adult?
i remember hearing that ac has a way to strip espers of their powers when they become adults

Bc the esper program has only been existing and made successful for this generation actually, AC can strip you of your powers but the esper project itself didnt become stable until recently. Hence why everyone is still less than 20 or around them

Bruh, Motoharu was threatening to kill his dad, and Touma lost his memories like a week before so he wasnt close to Motoharu at that point. Touma was definitely serious.
Touma was quite serious. In fact the only thing going against him was being under chloroform effect earlier.

All things considered it's possible, it's been showed he can transform into a dragon when his duplicate stole IB, then when Touma got it back the duplicate could transform as well. Maybe it's a power of IB or it maybe why Alister value Touma so much, the ability to control Dragon energy.

Theres 2 more or less common theories, first being that he can manifest anything he truly desires (backed up by the existence of KnT which was born out of touma's inner desire of being efficent with imagine breaker) the second more common guess is actual future sight as it kinda goes in line with his precog
