I like how Dave isn't real picky about how his tattoos look. None of his tattoos have a lot of detail, so its really easy to please him.

Wow. The "I have one but not by choice" story is so heart wrenching. Dave seems like such a real person though, and I imagine a few of his tears leaked out of his eyes for Rose. What an honor to meet an absolute hero who survived one of the most dehumanizing reigns of terror in history. I admire Dave for wanting to memorialize that beautiful soul and carry her with him for the rest of his life.

Dave has said on the show that his critiques are from the perspective of the client. They could have gotten anyone to do it but I think he's good at it. He's also said it's just for fun. I like him on the show.

Woman he spoke to his name is Rose Schindler and she was just on Jocko Willink podcast and has written a book about her experience.

Keep in mind when you keep saying how can Dave judge tattoos. He really is not a judge, He is the HOST. yes sometimes it comes do to him when Oliver and Chris disagree.
He also represents a client and that perspective is important on a judging panel. He is a major collector of tattoos, an artist in his own right, and not a tattooer so he has a different perspective from which to judge the artwork.
Dave's "I have one, but not my choice" with the rose tattoo, holds a great fucking meaning.

@@audreylennon4614 during the Holocaust as the Jewish people were put into concentration camps they were forced to look a certain way and one of the things was they all had tattooed numbers on them. They were forced to shave their heads, get the tattoo of their number and much more. So when she meant she “has one but not by choice” she revealed she was in a concentration camp during the Holocaust and saw the horrors of it

THAT´S the reason why i love tattoos!!!! It´s the story behind them. Tattoos are a message, a statement, a mirror to your soul.
I saw Jane's Addiction in a really small club in the UK back in 1990 (The Bierkeller in Bristol with just a couple of hundred audience members....going fucking crazy!!!!) and i don't think Dave had any tattoo's at the time.......that i can remember (or none that were visible at least). Perry had one (that Praying Mantis type thing on his arm) which i think is still the only one he has!
They were such an amazing band back then (one of the best bands EVER at the time!) but sadly the last time i saw them (2003 i think ?) it felt like i was watching a very average Jane's Addiction tribute band just going through the motions.
At least i have the memories of them when they were truly a magnificent band to behold!!!

I remember reading the story of the woman on the plane saying she had a tattoo from the holocaust and I couldn't for the life of me remember who the musician it was! Didn't realise he went and got a tattoo after to commemorate the meeting. Makes me love Dave more

I love Dave, but damn do I ever wish things could be different. Listening to him talk about all his amazing tattoos, mainly the rose tattoo. But yeah if your a rock star/ famous person, you have the right to express yourself. You can live your full life, purple hair, tattoos, piercings etc. But any average person, trying to land a job, etc, have to worry about a tiny nose ring. I love Dave, he has true talent. No ones life is perfect, but can't EVERYONE have that beautiful freedom he does?

this guy is actually a good guy it seems, I learned to hate him as a person from ink master, but I guess the whole show is just staged... hate that tho, I want to see the actual art and learn, not hearing evil people screaming mean shit to one eachother.

I was kind of... upset with Dave because of all the times he judged artists with a... misogynistic eye. Some artists would get female canvases and if they wanted something, not "feminine" and the artist gave them what they wanted, the artist would probably end up on the bottom or slandered for making the girl leave "less cute" than when she came in. It seemed to have pissed a lot of people off in the comments section and I do agree on that being misogynistic and he should judge for the art and not because it wasn't cute or feminine.

There was a pottery sale every year to raise money for students..
I looked at every beautiful piece and selected the one that was artfully done but clearly not done as skillfully as the others.
I really like the colors, the design, but the lines aren’t straight- it wasn’t ‘perfect’- and that’s what I like about it.
I wanted to support the person who probably thought that no one would chose their piece. To me it was the best one!

I love this show..Lyle Tuttle is an old Friend of mine..I was on his Biz.Cards in 1962..I've Been Watching Him Do tattoos all these yrs..I was there when he tattooed the Allman Bro..& Hot Tuna (1971 & 2)...I got my one & only tattoo from him in 1971 ..a Dragon That he signed his name around..This was the 1st.time he ever signed his name on anyone..I played at Both tattoo Balls at Bimbos in San Francisco..around 1978.(I'm a Musician)..Tattooing has come a long way..I'm 69 now Lyle Is 82...
