Song started out being written in 1962, and finally finished and released by Jackie DeShannon in 65’. Bacharach had the music worked out already and Hal David finally put the words to it two years later.
Jackie is a very under rated singer songwriter she was born in 1941 and was part of the Beatles first US tour in 1964 as an opening act. Jackie also wrote Betty Davis eyes for Kim Carnes.

My mother would sing this song to me all the time as a child in the 60's. It holds a very special meaning in my heart, and the message is timeless.
