Some important things when picking classes; Knowing what story you're playing: Going with Kevin's/Charlotte's story? Angela's (LL/LD), Duran's (LL), & Charlotte's (LL) Light side classes are better with spells like Saint Saber, Saint Beam, & Turn Undead. Going with Hawkeye's/Riesz's story? Angela's (LL/LD), Duran's (LL), & Charlotte's (LD) Light side classes are better with spells like Saint Saber, & Saint Beam. Going with Duran's/Angela's story? Angela's (DD/DL) & Charlotte's (DD/DL) dark side classes are better, while Kevin's Saber classes are better Going against the Black Rabite (Duran's/Angela's story only)? You'll want either Saint Saber or Kevin's Sabers (DD Dervish/LD Warrior Monk for Kevin, DD Duelist/LL Paladin for Kevin, or LL Bishop for Charlotte), if you pick Angela, make sure she's a DL Rune Master for Stone Cloud (Petrification) & Stun Wind (Silence). Other than that, it's all "who do I have in my party?" Need a healer and don't want Charlotte? Duran (LD) or Kevin (LD) and fill that role (while both deal more damage than Charlotte), otherwise, use healing items and don't get a healer. Want to break the game? Grab Riesz (LD) + Hawkeye (DD) + Duran or Kevin (they can either heal or go Dark for dmg, healing with items is sufficient). Alternatively, use Charlotte (DL) instead of Hawkeye for Black Curse or farm stat boosting/debuffing items. The combination of buffing your party and debuffing bosses makes a huge difference. Got Angela but not Riesz? Grab Charlotte (DD) to use Demon Breath to weaken enemies' magic defense. Then grab Kevin (LD) or Duran (DL) for some Leaf Sabers to keep MP up. Don't want Angela but want to hit various elements? Grab Duran (DD/DL), Hawkeye (DD/DL), or Charlotte (LD/LL) for alternative magic attacks or saber spells. There's also been some changes from the SNES version and the new version (all good changes); All characters gain a 4th class (L or D) that will likely shake up *all* of the above. Critical Hits are no longer broken, so that means DL Kevin's Energy Ball is no longer useless. Shields are no longer broken, so that means LD & LL Duran gets a nice defensive boost (before only LD's Oath Shield was any good, giving you multiple status immunities). How this works with the removal of DEX (and evasion) is unknown at the time, but they should still boost magic defenses. Enemies don't ignore hits when getting hit quickly, so you can pair Kevin & Hawkeye w/o suffering from negated hits. If you *do not* want to min/max a perfect party: simply remember this, *all* party combinations work. You don't even need a dedicated healer. Yes, some classes are worse than others (looking at you LD Hawkeye, arguably the worst class in the game), while other characters you can't really go wrong (Angela & Kevin all have great classes). Also, if you're playing the demo and want all 3 party members, choose Charlotte as your 3rd member (all other 3rd party members join shortly after the demo ends). Even better, if you're picking a class based solely on looks... you *no longer have to do that!* You can change class outfits! Exact details still unknown ofc.
This comment is awesome, thank you. Really adds to the video. In fact if I could choose between watching the video and reading this comment I'd choose reading this comment lol
I think you just convinced me to get this game. Do enemies still counter whenever you use a spell on them, especially bosses? That was annoying in the original. Do you know if all of the class spells are the same?
@@luckygnome2746 We don't know if humanoid bosses counter you anymore yet haven't been enough gameplay shown However I can tell you a few things from watching previews 1. Class Specials are still the same 2. Class up increases your combo by atleast 1 a class up
You beat me to this! I've played through the original game slightly over 20 times with different combos (though I refused to not use Kevin because he's my fave). I would add a few things to party combos: Angela + Kevin used to not be considered bad to put in the same party. One or the other of them used to kill every enemy too fast leaving the other's potential unrealized. Either a cast isn't finished before Werewolf Kevin would dispatch of them, or a spell dispatches enemies before Kevin built enough gauge (just picks off weakened enemies). By end games, casts were fast enough that fighting melee with offensive magic was actually frustrating with all of the game pauses (yes, I was running multiplayer). Given casts no longer pause, and the CS gauge works differently (does not reset after a single screen), I don't see these two contending anymore. They can basically both go all out and without decreasing the efficiency of the other. I dislike the hate for Charlotte! If her English voice actor is annoying, switch to Japanese. She's one of those jobs useful no matter what path you pick. Her weaknesses are usually only in the form of "someone else offers ____" but forget, and no one else in the game can heal like her. Yes, Duran and Kevin have healing classes and can even multi-target them, but that's not what they should be up to! Their heal power is far less than Charlotte's no matter what path she picks and she can be doing other things while healing. My go to party was always Kevin, Angela, Charlotte because they work together in many different combinations Consider stat UP on your party to be more valuable than stat DOWN on enemies so I'd say it's better if you have this in your party over a debuff (sorry Hawkeye and some of Reisz). If you fight 5 enemies, you'll have to cast defense down on all of them for a physical damage dealer to get that bonus on all of them. Or cast attack up once on yourself to get the same bonus (the original game stat up vs stat down all seemed to have the same ratios). In the original game, they were closer efficiency-wise because stat up would wear off on the next battle screen and they were frequently pretty short averaging 3~4 enemies, sometimes 6~7? This game is much less divided so my guess is stat up has a time duration, but a single buff up on your party members will affect fighting more enemies than having to stat down each one. All of the stat up / status down effects are available as items that aren't terribly rare in the game. I'd say collect your stat down from there and use them only for boss fights. I had fears they would fix the balance of the original game and reign in Kevin's physical DPS. From the demo, it does not seem like they did that. He's about tied at the top during the day, and untouchable at night. The only question now is what will magic DPS look like with no pauses to the game and likely a different cast system. Is the caster stuck where they stand? Is there even a cast time?
I am loving the hell outta this game....what really sold it completely for me was playing through the flashback instead of just having it TOLD to you like a story. It's so much better to actually see it unfold.
I disagree Korv. You can leave your criticism at the door. I’ll take your critique any day of the week, but the internet is full of hateful negative posts that offer nothing of value. If you want to post critique I’ll listen with full ears and take it and try and apply it. If you want to criticize I’ll ether make fun of you in terms, or flat out ban you from the channel. I don’t need anyone’s negative view in my world and I’d rather always be a small channel that has a loving and awesome community rather then a large community full of people who offer only hate. These are video games and they are wonderful. There are plenty of other channels out there willing to feed off your anger and negativity for money. If you think of critique and criticism are the same thing, they are not.
@@GingerPrimeGaming They aren't the same, but I think he made a fair point. To what degree is criticism really worth banning people over, and to take from criticism and learn from it, because you've become a "public figure"--is a critique. I'm not too sure about his wording, especially the public figure bit, but its not hard to guess what hes getting at. That said, it was just a mispronunciation of a word. Somehow out of nothing, a debate thing was made. How you respond, how you handle little things like this, will affect those in the community or those new to the community. Regardless, you've made an ongoing joke for your current community, and I am sure they won't forget it. Overall I think it's more of a positive thing.
this Game is trash. Button Smashing Fight System, World is Dead and Lifeless, English Voices are cringe and the Animations.... WTF ARE THIS BAD ANIMATIONS? Graphic is trash but i dont care about Graphics but this Game is like a Mobile Game... SO BAD
@@PisaroOne Square Enix really needs to make more games like this with a sensible budget, because they can actually get a product out the door within a reasonable time frame and not have to worry about it being unprofitable if it doesn't sell 10 million copies and oodles of DLC. And they've made a game that actually appeals to fans of the Mana games, rather than some overblown, focus-tested mess that no one asked for.
The trick with putting Charlotte in slot three still works. But the question remains: Are the benefits of a dedicated healer and having a full party before the first boss enough to offset her accent?
@@jonathanberry8656 Yeah, I just played the demo today and had like 26 candies. Was a big relief, because there was no way I was letting Charlotte anywhere near my party.
@@jonathanberry8656 It's Riesz, Angela, and Hawkeye for me. Duran seems kind of basic and bland, while Kevin is also one whose voice I cannot stand, lol.
Same here. Seemed to make sense. Big damage guy, black mage, white mage. I’ve heard Duran can do some big damage on the dark path (gladiator then duelist, I’ve heard duelist can do some major damage). Going to take my black mage all the way down the dark path and my white mage all the way down the light path as her final light form has some great healing, from what I’ve read. Like I said, Duran looks like more of a main character than any of the others and how can you play an RPG without a black and white mage in your party? What classes did you pick for upgrades?
There are no bad classes only classes that don't synergize as well. There's no compositions that drag the team down. Play how you want. There's a lot of room for expression.
I've only recently played the demo and fell in LOVE! Now I have to figure out which characters to pick for main playthrough once I buy it cause I love Angela Hawkeye Reize and Kevin. It's only 3 in a party! This was definitely helpful, thank you!
Hawkeye and Reisz are undoubtedly gonna be my first playthrough purely because they are my favorites, but getting a third character was really hard to try and find. Now I know I will probably try Kevin (his gimmick seems too fun to ignore for a first playthrough.)
I really like games that give you more than 1 play style to approach the game with. I'm looking forward to playing all characters and putting a stupid amount of time into this game. Thanks for the video was really helpful to understand each class.
Great vid series, sir. I played Secret of Mana back in the day on the SNES with my bro (we were both adults and roommates at the time.) One of the better JRPG's I can remember from that era, and that predated any of my experience with the FF franchise. Just finished FF7R and have the JRPG bug again, and saw this was dropping tomorrow. Might just have to pick it up, it looks great. I'm a much older gamer now (mid-50's) but still really enjoy video games. It's also a bit of therapy for arthritic hands...helps to keep them at least somewhat limber. As far as the whole "stamina/stanima" thing...don't let anyone get you down, bud. I found it funny, and thought perhaps it was an inside joke in your community. I've had close friends who have struggled with dyslexia and wouldn't ever in a million years chastise or belittle someone who through no fault of their own saw words differently. You just keep doing you, my dude. And for the ones with only unkind comments...ignore them. A big "payoff" for them is to get a rise out of folks, and if you don't take the bait, that is going to hack them off far more than throwing shade back or banning them. Straight-up ghost their arse, and let them stew in their own juices. "The best revenge is living well." Best of luck to you and your channel. And enjoy the game!
Watching this video after 24 hours of play I’m already at class change 3. I’m glad I picked some of the classes you are saying are killers lol gotta love getting lucky on blind playthru
Ginger Prime i was born in 93 and America so I wouldn’t have had a chance to play such a great game during its hey day. I’m a fan of all square and this game has truly shown me where their love for games originated. Great game it’s a must buy for all real fans of story action role playing.
Stamina increases defense, Intelligence bonuses only impact Magic Attack (not counting the various abilities you get from it), Spirit boosts magic defense and it's abilities seem to revolve around either healing or boosting CS gauge, luck also boosts drop rate of items. This is the stuff I noticed from my 6 different group set ups on my saves and nearly 20 hours of total game play.
I cannot wait to play this! I love how you can switch between the original and new music throughout the game. Now my predicament is if I want to get the PC or switch version,
The one aspect that this video igores is the class passive abilities. For example, Grand Diviner gets 15% mp after every battle, which means she will never run out of mana. And if that's not enough for you, she gets 2 mp for each enemy she kills and an mp saver ability to lower the cost of spells. Basically - in a nutshell - she has infinite mp and will never have to attack again. All you do is chain cast spells over and over, full-clearing packs of enemies within seconds and every boss dies in 30 seconds. This completely changes the comparison with other classes, making this her best.
Thank you for this Info. I was planning to pick this class anyway but you made the case stronger. I'm currently playing my 2nd playthrough with Hawkeye, Riezs (had her in my first playthrough but i chose her again for the story) and Angela. I wanna play in Normal Diffuculty since i changed it to easy last time. I kinda struggle because besides Riezs both are fragile.
Is the game out early or something? Or are you just extrapolating from the SNES version? Is it confirmed all characters will get the same exact spells/weapons/armor in the same order as the original? I was under the impression this game is going to be very faithful, but they also added things to change up the gameplay like the new ability system.
I only watched a tiny bit of this video, but the demo has been out on steam (not sure about other platforms). You can level up to 7 with each character in it though and continue from wherever you left off if you decide to purchase the full game afterward.
Oh wow I didn’t know playing the demo that your save carried over. I’m definitely going to play the demo more tonight before the game release officially. I have it digital pre ordered. It’s my first time playing this game.
It's interesting to note that some characters have linked stories: Rise x Hawkeye, Angela x Duran, Kevin x Charlotte. And also that you get spefic dialogue for having an all-female or all-male party.
For my controller setup I had changed the buttons to Weak Attack = Square Strong Attack = Triangle Jump = X Dodge = O It became a lot easier to remember which button was which. Also, picked Hawkeye, Riesz, & Charlotte as well due to story reasons (Hawkeye & Riesz share the same villain) & heard Charlotte was a real good healer in the game. Plus, getting Hawkeye's Toxic ability in the INT group certainly has been helpful since you have a 30% chance of Inflicting Poison whenever anyone in your group uses a power attack
i liked how you made sure to set it straight (sort of) that there really is no best group, its whatever and whoever you want to play with, personally my favorite for like 15+ years has been kevin, broken or not, other 2 would be charlotte and angela cause i got 2 casters with kevin in front, since in ToM they got rid of the pauses during moves and CPU Techs, it just makes it that much better
Thanks, I get that games have metas but I truly believe the best setup is the one the player enjoys the most. For some players that’s following the meta perfectly and for others it’s being told that it’s ok to have fun :)
Thank you for the explanation of classes. I started my playthrough on the demo with Reisz, Kevin and Angela. So you just helped me plan out some major damage lol.
I mostly keep seeing people make the same class suggestions as the SNES version, but the passive abilities changed the game completely, especially some of the endgame ones like Obsidian Power, which quickly becomes probably the most absurd ability in the game when paired with Dark/Dark Angela. Charlotte's dark classes also got a massive buff thanks to abilities, if you don't have someone else to put stat downs on the enemies. She can restore you to full hp no matter which path you take, so stronger healing just seems kind of wasted.
3:28 - Duelist doesn't do more damage than Blademaster ("Edelfrei") Edelfrei gets two skills that give +65% damage and also +25% more frequent critical damage; Duelist only gets +30% to just P attacks (not W or CS attacks) and +30% damage only after you've taken damage equal to 60% of your damage -- rarely happens in regular fights. Only really advantage of Duelist is maybe on boss fights his +dmg comes at a smaller cost --constant -5% HP every P attack vs Edelfrei's -40% weaker defense (just physical not magical) across the board, and his CS3 hits harder - both solo buffed I found Quakesbringer hit about 13% harder than Hollow Slash. But otherwise I tested both with controlled stats (AI idle or dead), controlled buffs and abilities, all things equal, and Duelist clearly does 10-20% less damage. Plus on top of that, far more utility and also increases DPS of your melee party members more, too (with Element Saber All and also potentially the Skill that buffs damage of party element sabers by 8%). The one thing about Duelist is that when grinding mobs, the constant life sacrifice (from P attacks) but the +20% HP recovered for every enemy kill makes him kinda interesting -- kinda vampiric I guess lol. But the +damage from it isn't better than Edelfrei.
before I even watch the video: my party/reason for pick: Angela (main character)/them thighs don't lie Charlotte (supporting char)/cutest little ball of sunshine Riezs (supporting char)/them thighs don't lie class progression (haven't gotten here yet): Angela- whatever gets her in less clothes Charlotte- whatever keeps her adorable Riezs- see Angela entry though tbh, their backstories got me in my feels, especially charlotte, the VA and the cute character suffering almost got a tear out of me.
It's a proven fact that saying something wrong increases engagement... while I'm not saying it wrong on purpose, I am aware it helps the video and the channel. Social media is weird.
Dervish is called Enlightened and is actually the DL path. It was a bug/translation error or something like that. Death Hand which is now called Fatal Fist is the DD path.
I chose Angela as my main. When do I learn magic? Is it only through collecting those Spirits? I have Lumina and Gnome. First time playing this game/series.
@@GingerPrimeGaming I appreciate the reply! I figured I'd start with a spell and just upgrade it. I didn't want to push any points to STR just in case but I guess it is needed for them staff swings lol.
A very basic question that you didn't touch upon: How do you Dash? I mean, in any of the maps (not when fighting enemies). I know (on Switch) you Dash by pressing L and you can change that in the menu, but even though I kept pressing that button, I wasn't able to Dash at all when I played the Demo. So, how do you it? Care to explain it in detail, please? Thank you!! And it's a great guide!
@@GingerPrimeGaming Thanks a lot for answering! I'm gonna sub you! I really enjoyed your guide and will most definitely buy this gem of a game when it realeases! I specially love Riesz and Angela! But I'm willing to try out all of the cast.
I'm super on board with this remake and very excited of course, but it makes me think and wonder why other gold-tier titles as Chrono Trigger have always been denied a proper remake. Most we got was the Nintendo DS version.
Sounds like you're extrapolating from the SNES version. The PS4 version (based on the demo) has more customization that may extend into the class you change into, so it's misleading to generalize which Trials of Mana character classes you should consider based on how the class changes worked in the SNES version.
After playing the Original Seikan Denetsu 3 several times & playing this remake for the first time I can safely say this remake is amazing. It stays true to the original while updating & refining everything for the modern age.
What someone forgot to ask... is can you change uniforms for each character at any time once unlocked, e.g. have the one on far right at 4:15 for Riesz instead of the starting green one, regardless of what path you chose?
Awesome video! I was wondering if you're stuck with the visual looks/outfits of the characters after choosing classes. Because some of them are great and some I really dislike.
Excellent question. If you want to change the appearance of your character while retaining its current class and abilities, you can set your character’s costume in the main menu, but you'll have to have the look unlocked in order to set it. :) I hope that helps.
I thought I recognized your voice from the FFXIV videos. They were so helpful with setting up my PS4 xhot bar and HUD clean up. Will buy this game within the hour. Take care!
Do we know for sure that L/L Riesz's summon still negates experience reward from enemies, or are we just assuming that based on the SNES version? I know they fixed a number of other issues like crit chance and Duran's shields, and that aspect of the Vanadis's summon always seemed like it made it useless, so I'm holding out hope that it's changed as well.
I'll tell u how I play, I play Reiz and Angela by choosing the sexiest costumes they have. I make Angela runs in circle in her magus costume for hours! Yeah!!!
I am new to this game and saga in general. The demo got me on Nintendo Switch specifically it suits perfect on this console imo. I want to play as hawkaye as first then riez and Angela as last. But I don't know exactly which is the best class for each one and how to perfectly make this team work. Someone can help me.
Guess the question is do you want to go with Duran or Kevin for healing. Figure that out and most likely go with Hawk as a Ninja, but in truth, do whatever you please :)
Great vídeo. My fave party has always been Hawk, Kevin and Angela but i havent played The original for so long that i didnt remember any of the class changes
Thank you. I couldn't find that menu anywhere. I thought I was stuck with this sad button setup. I mean who puts main useful abilities on the R/L, that obviously goes on the larger bumper buttons of ZR/ZL.
I pre-ordered this for Steam. Got a new laptop coming for it, too. Plan on using a combo of Hawkeye (DD) Kevin (DeathHand) and Charlotte (undecided, likely LD). Second team I'll do will be a caster team: Angela (LL) Reize (LD) and Charlotte (DD). PS Why is it that so many people haven't realized that Kevin's DD class is NOT the Dervish? A Dervish is not more evil than a DEATH Hand/FATAL Fist. There was a coding problem and the sprites were switched in the SNES version. The Death Hand (DD) was intended as the antithesis of the God Hand (LL). Kevin's dark classes got swapped, and apparently the developers aren't changing it now either...that is really weird.
Definitely a good team. I just played this team on the SNES version, and it's awesome. Kevin as warrior monk, Angela as Rune Master, and Riesz as Fenrir Knight. Really a strong party.
On the SNES version if you wanted to min/max you would definitely swap out Angela for Charlotte or Duran and get their elemental sabers. Angela's cast times are slow and she can die easily while casting spells, and that party has Keven and Riesz who are physical attack monsters so you'd get more mileage from buffing physical attacks. But you absolutely didn't need to min-max anything in that game. I was making bad teams on purpose for more challenging bosses.
Easily, Duran, Kevin, Halkwye, Reize. Maybe Angela, and this is just my personal opinion mind you. The best characters are the ones you’ll enjoy the most.
@@jasondp3546 I have it digital, it's not the first entry, but the 3rd, however, this is the 1st true remake for the game. You can get the collection on switch which has all three (this included, but not remade, but in the classic gameboy/snes style)
This video is awesome thanks for bringing us TOM noobs up to speed. I'm new to the Mana series...currently playing the secret of Mana remake which I'm loving, and I've been loving the switch Demo of Trials of Mana, really looking forward to the full game, I'm expecting to beat it with all 3 story combinations and will possibly do the post game stuff if the story is truly compelling (like dragon quest 11's was).
@To Release is To Resolve yes that's true but it seems that so much of this game is the exact same as the original right? I've never played the original and don't plan on playing (oldest games I still play are PS1/N64 era), but it appears the dialogue is the exact same and town structures, item locations, etc
So happy your loving the mana series and that you discovered it. I hope this game does really well so we can get more remakes or originals in the future :)
@@GingerPrimeGaming definitely love the aesthetic of this game, it kind of reminds me of the PS1 final fantasy games (7, 8 and 9) which are what got me hooked into Squaresoft, now Square Enix. The modern FF games have unfortunately strayed from the formula, trying to make things look too realistic. The secret sauce is an adult cartooney art style with some realistic looks and ideas sprinkled in to make the story resonate more. I just feel like going with too realistic of a look and theme kills the magical and awesome vibe that used to be present in the FF games (before PS2) and I find to be present in the Secret of Mana remake and Trials of Mana remake as well.
@@PisaroOne I actually liked the secret of Mana remake. It wasnt life changing but it kept my attention in a way similar to A Link Between World's for 3DS which I recently played. Only I liked having level ups in SOM, 3 person party, and casting magic. ALSO, the soundtrack was awesome!
Good choice, personally I would say ether Duran and Kevin would be great additions, Kevin and Hawkeye, or if you want, rock all all girl party and take Reisz and Charolett
In SNES, I don't know about the 2020 version. but Reisz's dark class Rune Maiden has all the Stat downs on enemies, you can pair with Angela's magic and just destroy people and have Kevin as a God-hand Healer/Tank while you're in the back going "pew pew"
Didn't watch video but hope you referenced that 2 of each character get a unique final boss as well as their stories branch into each other if they are in the same party. Example: I'm using Kevin, Charlotte and Reisz, and Kevin and Charlotte's stories are linked
Just pre ordered the game and got the demo, and I am having loads of fun. Reminds me of playing Legend of Mana on the Ps1. A question do you really need a healer? my team is Kai Angela and Riesz and Im leaning on putting them all on the Dark path personally and cuz it looks better.
You get to choose when you find a Mana Stone, first class if you're Lv18 you get to choose what class you morph into (your stats do not matter). 2nd class change is Lv38+ a special item.
Hawkeye rogue won't do as much damage as Angela but hes a pretty good substitute, can do pretty good single target trap damage, and it gets a dark, light, fire spell as well as Dryad.
I've been eyeing this game for a while now but kinda on the fence whether to buy it or nah since I bought Tokyo Mirage Sessions, Two Point Hospital, and FF7 Remake all in one go lol. This video helped me. Thank you so much!!! 🥰
Wait, how is this broken? And if you mind sharing, what path are you planning to give them? Many thanks if you spend your time expressing your path plan. For me, since this team already has Riez as a support, you can clearly go for sword master for Duran and Ninja Master for Hawkeye
Fellow Memer Duran - Swordmaster Hawk - Nightblade Riesz - Star Lancer Here’s why this is the most broken option - because between Duran’s full party elemental swords, Nightblade’s stat downs and Riesz’s full party stat ups, you absolutely wreck bosses. Sure, you could have Angela and fire off a spell that does 800 damage every couple of seconds, but with all these buffs going you’re going to be hitting for 400-500 per physical hit with 3 of the best physical attackers in the game. You don’t need a healer. You can buy an item called Poto Oils in the black market that does a full party heal, totally 100% replaces Carlie. You can also buy items that do stat ups and elemental swords, but it’s one at a time, so you have to cast like 6 spells to fully buff your team instead of two, and you’ll have to constantly restock those items. Also, as far as I know, you can’t get items for the more rare Sabre spells (Moon Sabre, Leaf Sabre, Dark Sabre, Saint Sabre). However, if you committed to having those items you could replace Duran or Riesz with Kevin, but I honestly don’t think it’s worth it Angela is mostly useless except to nuke-clear rooms. Carlie is completely useless since she’s fully replaced by an easily obtainable item you buy from a store. Kevin is the strongest character but provides zero utility.
@@Mrbonus2 Thanks for your time man, I appreciate all of this. Many thanks dude. I was planning on asking you the value of a healer in the team, but you are correct. If the game provides you with items that heal you amazingly, then why have a healer when you can just spend a couple lucres for that? Already answered, thanks. :D
If i got it right, godhand is kevin's damage class from the light side? Duran will already be my multi healer and i want to save his high damage dark class for when i'll play the game with him as my main
I have never played any of these. If you make a team of 3 but can only pilot 1 at a time can you set skill selection for A.I.? Can you make a heal bot or a buff/debuff totem? Or you have to switch back and forth to do everything for them?
I hope you guys know that u can chance your class/job 3 times in this remake ;) And be carefull, you cant go straight the SNES Version. There will be some changes, except in Endgame i think.
I have a Question : Can my Team go only Dark or Light Class Change ? What i mean by that is that let's say i go with Duran the Dark Route, are Kevin and Riez Dark Route Locked or i can go the Light Route with them ?
@@TheDarkicee there are combinations of character (2 character combos, 3 of them total) that go together as a story. Your main character sets the tone of the story, but then there is always a partner you can choose to go with him for additional dialogue. I'm not sure of the partner has to be in the second character slot or not. But in any event, choosing Duran Riesz and Kevin will not give you a story partner to your main story character.
@@TheDarkicee yes for Duran as the main character, his story partner is Angela. I'm going with Hawkeye/Riesz story as my first playthrough, with Duran as the third character. I like Hawkeye the best of all the characts in the game.
I think I wanna go with Kevin as the main character in my first play through. I love damaging and going wild but I also want to add a damage spell caster for my second choice and ideally a third character who focuses on multi-target support and healing so maybe Angela as damage spellcaster and Charlotte with multi-target healing/support? Watching this has really got me hyped to play this game so any ideas are welcome.
Ginger Prime currently at the last Bénevodon and magic is defo more useful! I think most of the guides relating to the SNES version seem a little outdated now though. Also, do you happen to know if any other Nintendo switch users suffer from extreme frame rate drops? :(

Some important things when picking classes;
Knowing what story you're playing:
Going with Kevin's/Charlotte's story? Angela's (LL/LD), Duran's (LL), & Charlotte's (LL) Light side classes are better with spells like Saint Saber, Saint Beam, & Turn Undead.
Going with Hawkeye's/Riesz's story? Angela's (LL/LD), Duran's (LL), & Charlotte's (LD) Light side classes are better with spells like Saint Saber, & Saint Beam.
Going with Duran's/Angela's story? Angela's (DD/DL) & Charlotte's (DD/DL) dark side classes are better, while Kevin's Saber classes are better
Going against the Black Rabite (Duran's/Angela's story only)? You'll want either Saint Saber or Kevin's Sabers (DD Dervish/LD Warrior Monk for Kevin, DD Duelist/LL Paladin for Kevin, or LL Bishop for Charlotte), if you pick Angela, make sure she's a DL Rune Master for Stone Cloud (Petrification) & Stun Wind (Silence).
Other than that, it's all "who do I have in my party?"
Need a healer and don't want Charlotte?
There's also been some changes from the SNES version and the new version (all good changes);
All characters gain a 4th class (L or D) that will likely shake up *all* of the above.
@@luckygnome2746
We don't know if humanoid bosses counter you anymore yet haven't been enough gameplay shown
However I can tell you a few things from watching previews
1. Class Specials are still the same
2. Class up increases your combo by atleast 1 a class up
You beat me to this! I've played through the original game slightly over 20 times with different combos (though I refused to not use Kevin because he's my fave). I would add a few things to party combos:
Angela + Kevin used to not be considered bad to put in the same party.
My go to party was always Kevin, Angela, Charlotte because they work together in many different combinations
Consider stat UP on your party to be more valuable than stat DOWN on enemies so I'd say it's better if you have this in your party over a debuff (sorry Hawkeye and some of Reisz).
Huh . . . . apparently my team choice was "break the game" XD defo continuing my save to the full game i guess! XDXD
I am loving the hell outta this game....what really sold it completely for me was playing through the flashback instead of just having it TOLD to you like a story. It's so much better to actually see it unfold.

@@GingerPrimeGaming You gotta learn how to take criticism, dude. You've made yourself a public figure.
Great vid. Most people didn't even bother covering this game.
Thanks and I love the mana series and hope this helps get more people to try it :)
Is this the first game in series?
Yes this game is amazing
my party was Reizs, Charlotte, and Angela and it worked really well due to going for Star Lancer, Necromancer, and Grand Diviner.
The trick with putting Charlotte in slot three still works. But the question remains: Are the benefits of a dedicated healer and having a full party before the first boss enough to offset her accent?
For me they are not, at least in my first play through
Considering healing items aren’t limited to 9 anymore I can see skipping her till I do her story.
@@jonathanberry8656 Yeah, I just played the demo today and had like 26 candies. Was a big relief, because there was no way I was letting Charlotte anywhere near my party.
Living Myth take Duran or Kevin down the light path if ya need a healer. Although don’t think you will xD.
@@jonathanberry8656 It's Riesz, Angela, and Hawkeye for me. Duran seems kind of basic and bland, while Kevin is also one whose voice I cannot stand, lol.
This game is so good. Been playing Duran, Angela, and Charlotte for my first time through.
Glad your enjoying the game :)
Just got this game on the weekend, already sunk 6 hours and loving it so far!
That's awesome WP, I adore this game :)
There are no bad classes only classes that don't synergize as well. There's no compositions that drag the team down. Play how you want. There's a lot of room for expression.
Couldn’t agree more :)
I've only recently played the demo and fell in LOVE! Now I have to figure out which characters to pick for main playthrough once I buy it cause I love Angela Hawkeye Reize and Kevin. It's only 3 in a party! This was definitely helpful, thank you!
Your welcome and I hope Square and Nintendo do this with more of their classic games.
Hawkeye and Reisz are undoubtedly gonna be my first playthrough purely because they are my favorites, but getting a third character was really hard to try and find. Now I know I will probably try Kevin (his gimmick seems too fun to ignore for a first playthrough.)
Loving all of your content !! Keep it up ! Lost 30 minutes of sleep and it was the best sleep I never had :)
Thanks dude :)
"The best revenge is living well."
Best of luck to you and your channel. And enjoy the game!
Tim, thank you and I feel that we will become fast friends :)
Watching this video after 24 hours of play I’m already at class change 3. I’m glad I picked some of the classes you are saying are killers lol gotta love getting lucky on blind playthru
How you liking the game so far F.Prince? :)
Now my predicament is if I want to get the PC or switch version,
PC for me. Runs so much better. 1440p at 120hz
It's interesting to note that some characters have linked stories:
Rise x Hawkeye, Angela x Duran, Kevin x Charlotte.
And also that you get spefic dialogue for having an all-female or all-male party.
For my controller setup I had changed the buttons to
Weak Attack = Square
Strong Attack = Triangle
Jump = X
Dodge = O
It became a lot easier to remember which button was which.
I'm really concerned on whether we can max out all the training points and skills.
i liked how you made sure to set it straight (sort of) that there really is no best group, its whatever and whoever you want to play with, personally my favorite for like 15+ years has been kevin, broken or not, other 2 would be charlotte and angela cause i got 2 casters with kevin in front, since in ToM they got rid of the pauses during moves and CPU Techs, it just makes it that much better
Glad I could help :)
@@GingerPrimeGaming Appreciate it :), now I just can plan my party better, cause of choosing Reisz first :)

Yah man keep up bro you young bucks are too covered , nudity equals power
@@GingerPrimeGaming I see, so all characters unlocked their highest potential when they went to sleep at an Inn, in the original game
I always keep Kevin cause fist fighter are me faves
I mostly keep seeing people make the same class suggestions as the SNES version, but the passive abilities changed the game completely, especially some of the endgame ones like Obsidian Power, which quickly becomes probably the most absurd ability in the game when paired with Dark/Dark Angela. Charlotte's dark classes also got a massive buff thanks to abilities, if you don't have someone else to put stat downs on the enemies. She can restore you to full hp no matter which path you take, so stronger healing just seems kind of wasted.
3:28 - Duelist doesn't do more damage than Blademaster ("Edelfrei")
Edelfrei gets two skills that give +65% damage and also +25% more frequent critical damage; Duelist only gets +30% to just P attacks (not W or CS attacks) and +30% damage only after you've taken damage equal to 60% of your damage -- rarely happens in regular fights.
Like and Subscribed because you kept reading Stamina as "Stanima" :) Keep up the good work my man!
Thanks and welcome Heri or as I first read “hero” :)
before I even watch the video:
my party/reason for pick:
Angela (main character)/them thighs don't lie
Charlotte (supporting char)/cutest little ball of sunshine
Riezs (supporting char)/them thighs don't lie
class progression (haven't gotten here yet):
Angela- whatever gets her in less clothes
Charlotte- whatever keeps her adorable
Riezs- see Angela entry
though tbh, their backstories got me in my feels, especially charlotte, the VA and the cute character suffering almost got a tear out of me.
You guys, he's saying stanima on purpose. It's a stragety and you're all falling for it.
I’ve been wanting to get into this game, but had no idea which team would be the most efficient or fun. This helps a ton, thanks dude.

I'm super on board with this remake and very excited of course, but it makes me think and wonder why other gold-tier titles as Chrono Trigger have always been denied a proper remake.
Most we got was the Nintendo DS version.
A Chrono Trigger remake would be epic :)
Hopefully if sales of this game are great they’ll do chrono trigger. Why they think it won’t be worth the money to produce it I don’t know..
Baten Kaitos needs a remake.
And if it comes with a remake of Origins, the better
I would love to see the breath of fire series get a remake for games 1-4, but Chrono trigger would be amazing
Very much so. I would love to see the original made available
It stays true to the original while updating & refining everything for the modern age.
cant wait for this game to come out! sekendensetsu 3 was my childhood game, i waited 10 dam years for this!
What someone forgot to ask... is can you change uniforms for each character at any time once unlocked, e.g. have the one on far right at 4:15 for Riesz instead of the starting green one, regardless of what path you chose?
Super excited for this game. This has been a good year for JRPGs. I can't decide if I should main Riesz or Angela.
I hope that helps.
I thought I recognized your voice from the FFXIV videos. They were so helpful with setting up my PS4 xhot bar and HUD clean up. Will buy this game within the hour. Take care!

Hope you enjoy the game when you pick it up. It’s been a really good time for me playing it :)
Yeah!!!

PS
Why is it that so many people haven't realized that Kevin's DD class is NOT the Dervish? A Dervish is not more evil than a DEATH Hand/FATAL Fist. There was a coding problem and the sprites were switched in the SNES version. The Death Hand (DD) was intended as the antithesis of the God Hand (LL). Kevin's dark classes got swapped, and apparently the developers aren't changing it now either...that is really weird.
I am going with Kevin, Angela and riesz. Is that a good team?
White Heart Aspie if you like it, it’s a good team.
What characters u recommend to start and that it would be a good fit for the start and end of the game
Easily, Duran, Kevin, Halkwye, Reize. Maybe Angela, and this is just my personal opinion mind you. The best characters are the ones you’ll enjoy the most.

@@UA-camGuy-ns9xj Problem here... Secret of Mana Remake was.. well... crap. That was a light mobile Game. That here, Trials of Mana, THAT is a Remake.
Bought this last week. Like it so far
I really want to pick Angela as my main when the game releases. What other 2 do you recommend or think will play nicely with her?
Good choice, personally I would say ether Duran and Kevin would be great additions, Kevin and Hawkeye, or if you want, rock all all girl party and take Reisz and Charolett
In SNES, I don't know about the 2020 version. but Reisz's dark class Rune Maiden has all the Stat downs on enemies, you can pair with Angela's magic and just destroy people and have Kevin as a God-hand Healer/Tank while you're in the back going "pew pew"
This is my team comp: Angela (main) Duran (secondary) Riesz (third) what do you guys think of it?
Didn't watch video but hope you referenced that 2 of each character get a unique final boss as well as their stories branch into each other if they are in the same party. Example: I'm using Kevin, Charlotte and Reisz, and Kevin and Charlotte's stories are linked
Just pre ordered the game and got the demo, and I am having loads of fun. Reminds me of playing Legend of Mana on the Ps1.
A question do you really need a healer? my team is Kai Angela and Riesz and Im leaning on putting them all on the Dark path personally and cuz it looks better.
Can you retrain characters to boost different stats to unlock different skills or is training permanent?
I may be missing something, but do stats change what class you get? The process of class growth isn't really touched on much
You get to choose when you find a Mana Stone, first class if you're Lv18 you get to choose what class you morph into (your stats do not matter). 2nd class change is Lv38+ a special item.
Hawkeye rogue won't do as much damage as Angela but hes a pretty good substitute, can do pretty good single target trap damage, and it gets a dark, light, fire spell as well as Dryad.
Been playing since secrets of mana
Do you have other videos on the basics of this game?
To be sure is there any censorship on the ps4 version? I still not sure which one to get
Haven't seen any reports of censorship with this game, but perhaps my news and info has already been censored.
I've been eyeing this game for a while now but kinda on the fence whether to buy it or nah since I bought Tokyo Mirage Sessions, Two Point Hospital, and FF7 Remake all in one go lol. This video helped me. Thank you so much!!! 🥰
I’m so glad to hear this video was a help :)
Play the demo for it if you haven't already
I did a video on my best build and it's definitely Duelist Duran, Fatal Fist Kevin and Sage Charlotte. Even on hard this class is OP!
Quick question who's the character left of Angela? (not duran)
Reisz :)
@@GingerPrimeGaming what forms for the both of them?
Duran, Hawkeye, Charlotte
What should I do with them, I'm level 18 or so and still haven't used any of the training skills, at all...
Start using your training skills... build them whatever way you want, for how you want them to evolve. :)
@@GingerPrimeGaming Any recommendations though for most optimal setup or should I go with building on their Strengths?
Would have really liked if we had gotten to play atleast 1 in each of the possibly class changes for class change 1 and 2 for each character
So much agreed, but I’ve already downloaded the full game now I just wait for it to unlock :)
These women are too sexy. No woman would ever go into battle dressed like that.
-Mortal Kombat Team 2019
"Hold my beer..."
- UFC fighters in short spandex and sports bras
You should’ve seen ‘em in Ancient Greece! Tits flailing everywhere!
Having a hard decision should I get the ps4 version or the switch version
Where do you enjoy playing games the most? If you like your trophy's then go PS4, if you like the flexibility of playing anywhere, go switch. :)
Gotcha most likely I get the switch version
I’m going with the broken team of Duran, Hawkeye, and Riez, and this gives me the optional super boss!
Wait, how is this broken? And if you mind sharing, what path are you planning to give them? Many thanks if you spend your time expressing your path plan. For me, since this team already has Riez as a support, you can clearly go for sword master for Duran and Ninja Master for Hawkeye
Fellow Memer
Duran - Swordmaster
Hawk - Nightblade
Riesz - Star Lancer
Here’s why this is the most broken option - because between Duran’s full party elemental swords, Nightblade’s stat downs and Riesz’s full party stat ups, you absolutely wreck bosses.
However, if you committed to having those items you could replace Duran or Riesz with Kevin, but I honestly don’t think it’s worth it
Angela is mostly useless except to nuke-clear rooms.
Yes you can make them to heal bot etc. it's in the settings.
Goblin Slayer cool ty
All your questions are answered in the video ;)
Ginger Prime I’ll watch again ty
I hope you guys know that u can chance your class/job 3 times in this remake ;) And be carefull, you cant go straight the SNES Version. There will be some changes, except in Endgame i think.
In the original 1995 game, is an all-female run (Charlotte, Riesz, and Angela) harder than an all-male run (Kevin, Hawkeye, and Duran)?
Is there a guide for stats or does it not matter
I have a Question : Can my Team go only Dark or Light Class Change ?
What i mean by that is that let's say i go with Duran the Dark Route, are Kevin and Riez Dark Route Locked or i can go the Light Route with them ?
They are not locked.
@@GingerPrimeGaming Thank You !
That's my final Team after trying all the Characters out in the Demo.
@@UA-camGuy-ns9xj For Duran that would be Angela right ? I just don't like her Playstyle so i go with the Team that i mentioned.
Very helpful thank you!
Glad I could help :)
So magic was kind of meh in the original seiken densetsu 3 - has it been improved in the remake?
I feel it has, time will tell.
Ginger Prime currently at the last Bénevodon and magic is defo more useful! I think most of the guides relating to the SNES version seem a little outdated now though.
Also, do you happen to know if any other Nintendo switch users suffer from extreme frame rate drops? :(
Yeah, Angela is a monster of a character. Most OP chara in the remake.
So do we know all the skills and spells are gonna be the same for sure?
