Thats Kim ,,, No matter how big or small the crowd ,, still delivers the goods !!!! even in 2021 with his new release ,, just keeps getting betterer !!!!!!!
I am pushing 60 , and never heard of this guy until I heard "Go For a soda" I live in the states and have not listened to rock for too many years. This guy is great. Now i am looking up all the Canadian bands. I have found a goldmine here. I love your country, and now I can say I love your rock. And now to Barenaked Ladies. I feel young again !!!
the neoclassical/anthem thingy @ the end is very cool. I miss the long-haired rockstar Kim, but this domesticated radio host is still 100% talent, and forever one of my favorites.......especially on the new record.
Kim is one of Canada's greatest guitarists, and this clip shows that near the end (Beyond The Moon outro). Anyone know if he's been appointed to the Order of Canada? Definitely deserves to be there along with the boys from Rush. Never stop rocking, Kim. Hope you make it out to Vancouver soon.
The best part of Kim Mitchell? He NVR SOLD OUT; HE ALWAYS ROCKS & KEEPS IT REAL!!!!! From a big Kim Mitchell fan here in Detroit, MI, USA; CANADIAN MUSICIANS FUCKIN' ROCK!!!!!
Kim Mitchell, proving why he's been one of my favorite guitarist since the first time I heard Max Webster on the the radio in the mid-1970s. It was great to be able to get the great Canadian radio stations like CHUM-FM and CFNY and to hear such great music.
Well then ...was't that a blast ...great to see that Grass Company , Zoom , Max Webster leader still playing great rock ...Its been many years since I watched Kim ...It was those early years in Sar ...Great Rock Dude ...I have been all over this wonderous land of Canada & everyone relates to the man ...Well done Kim Cheers Dave Webster Calgary
Is that audience even breathing???? Love the 'Misty Mountain Hop' segway. Very cool. I would've loved to have seen him live in Niagara for New Year's. Hell I'd love to see him live......period.
We were there. What you DONT see are the Mrs, myself & 4 others that are on our feet behind the camera man the whole session. This was early, & we werent sure what we were allowed to do. It was designed to record Kim & his band, NOT the crowd. The Mrs & I been together since 72, listening to Kim/Max Webster in various venues since then, so ya, we are his BIGGEST FANS! But why the heck am I defending myself to you folks? I was there, you werent, Kim Rocked, WE ALL ROCKED in our own fashion!
This is freakin amazing....I would be losing my mind....wait a minute I'm going to see him tomorrow night in New Minas NS.....What a kick ass band....Pete Fredette is the greatest also.....oh I hope they play this just the same as here....
Awesome song writer, great guitarist. I like the modified arrangements, Misty Mountain Hop - LOL! Tell me why this guy is a Morning Man in TO and not touring for some major cash?
ah man that was great. he must be a big led zep fan after he name dropped them in Love Ties and t MMH segway! great ending with that Beyond the Moon solo, too!
this is missing the high end vocals during the chorus .... if you watch the live version of this from the 1984 tour on UA-cam Kim isn't even singing during the chorus ... maybe he doesn't have the original guy to sing this (IE the guy who sang those parts in All We Are .. that guy is a great voclaist)..... still a damn good rockin riff in this song whenever it's played
Very exclusive. Unfortunately, when you try to record it with Tubesock, a flag pops up- 'file doesn't exist' What up? Any chance 101 can reload this thing? What a great session.
Among the top three best rock guitarists in Canada. My top ten include Alex Lifeson, Rick Emmett, Frank Marino, Colin James, Myles Goodwin and Brian Greenway, Randy Bachman, Serge Fiorii and Jesse Cook. There are many more. Likely canadian metal bands I don't know have crazy players.
In terms of shred and scale of talent - Rik Emmett is #1 - but all good choices. Myles Goodwin looks like Jimmy Buffet today...well like he walked into the gig from Buffet's beach party...but he can still shred and sing.
Folks; it's subject 2 deb8 but Ian Thomas can play guitar quite well in his own rite. Besides "Painted Ladies", "Liars" (which Kim did play on), "Hold On" (which Santana covered), "The Runner" (the title cut which Manfred Mann covered), "Strange Brew" (from his brother Dave's namesake movie; it FUCKIN' ROCKS!!!!!), & "Riders On Dark Horses" (the title cut from his 1984 album/CD) come 2 mind RE: Ian's guitar prowess.
@@jimbosc Myles Goodwyn resembling Jimmy Buffett nowadays; I c u point, Jimmy. BTW; "it's 5 O'Clock Somewhere" in Nova Scotia (where M.G. & A.W. r based).
@JAQUEOBAUER ... want more suggestions? Blue Rodeo, Sloan, The Guess Who, The Band, The Tragically Hip, Bryan Adams, Rush, Trooper, Loverboy, April Wine........... that'll keep ya busy for a while!!! ENJOY!!
This is not the best example of what I'm saying but I really think Steve Vai was influenced by Kim Mitchell's style and tone. I'm trying to think of a lead passage on akimbo which is a good example: 'Rumor Has It' - I think is one example.
It was a bunch of people (20 of Kim Mitchell's biggest fans apparently chosen via questionnaire) who won attendance to a special contest a radio station had. I also wondered why they were playing in what looks like a church.
Thats Kim ,,, No matter how big or small the crowd ,, still delivers the goods !!!! even in 2021 with his new release ,, just keeps getting betterer !!!!!!!
Hell YES on that finale - ⭐️⭐️⭐️❤️⭐️⭐️

Im beyond happy that this was taped.
kudos also to the recording engineer, I heard it on the radio. quality was top notch.

All time best party song
Audience looking energetic, yea!
BRUTAL AMAZING MITCHELL........ Great one of my fav bands for all times.
Great ending with that Beyond the Moon solo!
"the neoclassical/anthem thingy @ the end is very cool"
...is in fact the tail end of Max Webster's Beyond the Moon from Mutiny Up My Sleeve.

The Misty Mountain Hop breakdown section totally kicks ass!

Wow! Awesome!
Killer lead guitar sound.
I wish I could get my equipment to sound that good!
ALWAYS INSPIRING TO HEAR YOU PLAY KIM !!!!!

The audience is in their 90's , can't do much in that age group, LoL 😆
Whoa - nice rendition with quotes from Misty Mountain Hop and the stair-stepping guitar solo to "Beyond the Moon" - Kim's got it still!

Ummm... why are all these people sitting? How can you hear this tune and just... sit? I wasn't even there and I'm rocking!
ah man that was great. he must be a big led zep fan after he name dropped them in Love Ties and t MMH segway!
great ending with that Beyond the Moon solo, too!
That outro man, bad ass.
tom000 - Agreed. Bad ass.
Beyond The Moon by Max Webster. Legendary.
@KENABOOIE I agree big time! He still plays with all the energy that he did with even Max Webster!
Hell yeah!!! How can those people just sit still. I hear this and I want to grab a beer 🍺
Great Version !

Man, I like this guy since a long time ! Million Vacation was the better of my vinyls at that time.

Robin LaRose was the master of ceremonies.
Rock 101 is the Best!!!
kinda weird not seeing his signature blue guitar but I still rocked out to the song
I like the original better
this is missing the high end vocals during the chorus .... if you watch the live version of this from the 1984 tour on UA-cam Kim isn't even singing during the chorus ... maybe he doesn't have the original guy to sing this (IE the guy who sang those parts in All We Are .. that guy is a great voclaist)..... still a damn good rockin riff in this song whenever it's played

wow that crowd sure seems into it
+MH1000a I don't understand how one could stay sitting to that music, everyone should be up on their feet, dancing, and singing along, IMO
Interesting ending. Seems like Kim really got into more technical new metal genres when he got old

Good lord, is that how a Canadian audience treats their rockers? This sounds killer... get up, fooz.
Great Great Music! Would like to see him do All We Are! I think I would have tried for more younger females for my 20 BIGGEST!?
Wow!! Talk about playing to a bunch of comatose Librarians !!! LOL!!!!
That audience sucks! This is a rocking song.
It'so over for this poor guy....you can see it in his presence.....he is a God......High Class/Juveniles/Million...etc.
