Destroyah. That movie was really cool because the monster started small and the army fought him all the way up to Godzilla size. It also had a lot more emotion than the other films with Godzilla Jr.

I have an older variant but with basically the same articulation, and mine came with fire breath effect and extra hands. Monster arts has produced the best Godzilla's so far, even neca hasn't produced anything that rivals this. I loved mine so much that i even made a mini-movie with it, with my monster arts King Kong. Great review, it proves that some classics are hard to beat
I would not be mad if you said TriStar’s Godzilla was your favorite cus that movie had a pretty epic animated series spin off. Completely redeems that design for me. As for my favorite kaiju, other than the ones you mentioned, Gigan is a pretty sick Godzilla villain
I wouldn't be bothered by that statement. The 1998 Godzilla movie came out when I was a kid and I was hooked on everything from the movie to the toys. It may not be Godzilla, but 'Zilla' is still a cool monster in his own right. I hope we get him in monsterarts form someday As for my favorite monster he's fought against, definitely has to be Destroyah

Megaguirus. Her design is just so nifty to me, even if people compare her to Battra or even Mothra. But unlike them (along with most other kaiju), at least she has an actual personality. She also stabbed Godzilla in the plums, sucked them out, and fired them back at him. What's not to love?
Like many other people my age, I have a strange relationship with G98 because I was a child when it came out and it hit all the notes for a big family movie and I got to go see it for my birthday AND it had Jamiroquai in the soundtrack. Then I became an adult and realised it really is just bad. Nostalgia is a funny beast and it’s why I will never accept that 1996’s The Phantom starring Billy Zane isn’t one of the greatest pieces of cinema that has ever existed. He slammed evil. There were skulls and pirates and a purple dude on a white horse. Getting sidetracked, I’d have to say Gigan because his design is just hugely impractical and hilarious and is exactly the sort of thing I would design if I was still 7. Great review, I always enjoy these MonsterArts ones.
Favorite monster is Destroyah. His design and all of his forms on top of that make it feel really cool. And I believe he was the last monster Godzilla fought before the early 2000s run made him into more of a monster instead of the hero
In regards to their scale; sure, it would be fun if they were a bit bigger (might be able to mix it in with something like Neca's Pacific Rim, or Diaclone Reboot), but then they'd cost even more. The thing that helped with scale was when Bandai released the accessory packs with miniature buildings and tanks and stuff. That really helped put them into perspective. I can only assume those sets didn't sell well, because they haven't made any new ones for ages, but they are pretty damn expensive on the secondary market.
It was Matthew Broderick in the American Godzilla. And that one was weird. Even being a child of that era who loved Godzilla and loved that we got an American Godzilla movie, I knew it looked strange. My reaction would be 🤨 if you said it was your favorite barring some legit argument for it. And favorite Godzilla monster would be Anguirus. Love the Ankyloraurus-like look and his unique roar. I liked it a bit myself when it was first released as a 12 year old haha. For a favorite other kaiju for me would have to be Varan. Godzilla hasn't fought him yet but he's been in the Toho lineup since the 50s, very underrated kaiju
I do like these figures because of the articulation especially because Godzilla usually only had Sofubi and statues. Some people act like they need an engineering degree to pop a ball joint back on.
Definitely one of my favorite Godzilla films growing up and one of my favorite designs. If I had to pick a favorite villain of his it would have to be Destroyah. If you somehow get the chance, I highly recommend you get the MechaGodzilla aka Kiryu from Godzilla against Mechagodzilla. That figure is amazing!

98 American Zilla isn’t considered Godzilla anymore. Japan was ashamed of that little guy so they retconned him being an actual Godzilla, and to answer that question I don’t mind it. For the actual question, i like Biloante lore wise (also objectively has the best movie) and I like Space Godzilla or Destroyah design wise
Japan didn't retcon him, legally godzilla 98 is still a godzilla. All Japan did was get the rights to the design itself and named it zilla, toho legally couldn't change the name of godzilla 1998 since Tristar still had the rights til 2003. All toho could do was make a monster identical to g98 and give it a new identity. In 2019 the rights toho had for zilla expired which means they can't use zilla in any media anymore so the odds of zilla appearing in any media in the future is basically gone now

Not mad since Zilla '98 is a lot of fans' introduction to the series so many like it. Just for me in comparison it works if you see the monster as Zilla and not Godzilla. As for favourite he's fought easily Biollante, love the backstory, favourite Heisei era Godzilla movie and design wise love the Godzilla meets little shop of horrors aesthetics. One thing I really wish is Monsterarts went back to including effect parts. Used to be pretty common but I can't remember the last regular release they did it with, maybe MechaGodzilla '74.

Hedorah is easily the best. Used to symbolized godzilla's transformation from a villainous force of nature to a hero throughout the showa era. The final fight is also the most brutal out of the series.
QotD...I wouldn't be mad at all. My first Godzilla movie was '54, then '64, and saw '98 in theater. At the time I really liked it, and it's a fun monster movie...just not a good Godzilla film. You can't kill the king with missiles.... Still the animated show was great, and would 100% buy an SHMA figure of Zilla. #2QotD.....Really hard to pick one but between Biollante and Hedorah. I think I may be the only person that liked Hedorah. Such a bonkers movie and I love it!
I love all the monsters almost. One of my favorites ironically is actually the zilla character from final wars, and the rulers of earth IDW comics where he was much cooler and stronger.
I have all bandi's Godzilla's except for a few variants and while I like this guy, he is a bitt of a letdown. Especially compared Ultima. Mine had a huge chunk of extra plastic over his left eye, making him look very derpy and his torso just falls apart. I will say he is the most possible Godzilla they've made. So many ball joints in his tail really makes some fun crazy poses and I do like the softer plastic that was used. Still, I think the QC could have been better and I feel like Bandi just farted both him and MonsterX just so they could come out in close to one another.
I agree with u Anthony it's definitely involved godzilla movie. It's was suppose to be a celebration of the franchise & the last godzilla movie for a while but flopped at the box office.
Mothra. It’s just a timeless combo. I like the look of this Godzilla. I haven’t seen Final Wars. Might have to hunt it down. I have the NECA GvK (1962) Godzilla and it’s articulation is nowhere near as good as this.
1998 movie is pretty bad but looking back it's probably better than 90% of the big budget movie slop we get these days. There's so many great godzilla monsters and if we discount the undisputed best, then I'd say titanosaurus just because I like his fishy aquatic design. Very baryonyx-like, contrasts well to goji's tyrannosaur look.

This is one that looks amazing head on but not quite as great from the side/profile. I like this release more than I thought I would but I'm not super impressed by the head sculpt and lack of beam effects. Similar to Anthony 's in the review.
Ha! Yeah I got nothin against someone liking 1998 TriStar Godzilla. I got a soft spot myself for the movie. I honestly like the monster design, it's just simply not Godzilla. Anguirus has always been my favorite Godzilla ally and Gigan for enemy. Anyway ya I was pretty blown away by this figure. The thinner design allowed for much more pose ability than most. His nemesis, the upcoming monster x looks like it will even be moreso. Monster arts has come a long way. Too bad they have doubled their price since they started.

I think Godzilla/Zilla isn't a terrible design (but the choice to give it a coloca was) and Vrahno's godzilla videos have warmed me up to the design.

Ha! Yeah I got nothin against someone liking 1998 TriStar Godzilla. I got a soft spot myself for the movie. I honestly like the monster design, it's just simply not Godzilla. Anguirus has always been my favorite Godzilla ally and Gigan for enemy. Anyway ya I was pretty blown away by this figure. The thinner design allowed for much more pose ability than most. His nemesis, the upcoming monster x looks like it will even be moreso. Monster arts has come a long way. Too bad they have doubled their price since they started.
