My grandmother had a green one that I love to watch it wash. We never had any problems with it. It handled large loads well and the lint filter was very good because we had dogs. I wish they would make this machine again. I would be the first in line.
Yeah, the 1-18 and pretty much all of Frigidaires up and down washers (unimatic, rollermatic and pulsamatic) were fantastic preforming machines. A true shame they stopped producing them
@@biggysmoovemusic7777 I 100% agree, even if we had the efficiency standards having machines built like this would be so much better even if they were some high efficiency hybrid. The reason being it's a lot more efficient and better for the environment if we build machines that won't be thrown out in 10 years. I'd really love to see a modern machine last even half as long as any of the machines in this collection
@@MaytagMachineManiac yeah man thanks to the corruption of the government, now we can’t have all of that anymore and it’s sad that we can’t have anything reliable and better quality anymore. I have the latest GE top loader with the heavy duty agitator and we haven’t even had it for 6 months and it’s already crap and I would just go ahead and replace it but it belongs to the landlord unfortunately. Otherwise I would’ve bought the black Whirlpool Ultimate Care ii washer and dryer set I found long time ago.
The Sanitize setting was new when this washer as introduced. 1 1/2 c chlorine bleach was placed in the dispenser, warm rinse, water level was set at mini, & set the timer on Sanitize. Used it when the flu paid us a visit and helped prevent us all from getting sick!
My Favorite washers , I don't know why they cant make those again. You could make one so simple and they really clean so much better than the machines today.I have only found a few to buy used and they only lasted about 3 years before something bad happened to it. I will find me another one one day
Later on in the video after things got circulating the Frigidaire was ok. I think the dual action agitator of those old belt drive Kenmores were a better and more reliable design.
Cool! Even though I was around when these were made I never got to see one run. I understand these work better with less water to clothes ratio ? Certainly is doing good here.
The 1-18 had a great circular fill but even on extra large it never fills to the top and out of all the Frigidaires I think it had the least turnover plus the filter was not very good either. Still a fun machine to have.
Funny enough, when we overloaded the 118. Which I also have filmed it did a decent job. More towards the end but it definitely needed all the water it could get
I can't agree about the turnover. The inlet strainers had to be cleaned every 6 months. Did not like the early bed of nails lint filter, preferred the later strainer basket design. The machine we had was purchased in 1971 was kept 17 years. We gave in away. The tub began leaking around 1991 and was hauled off. The matching gas dryer was troublesome, the igniter gave us trouble every 2 yrs or so.

I'm with you on that. I'd buy this in a heartbeat. I wish more washers today had lint filters, it was always a nice feature in my opinion
Frigidaire Jet Cone or the Westinghouse Multi-Program Laundromat top loader or the Laundromat front loader.
Man I swear this is a legend washer.

@@MaytagMachineManiac it’s times like this when I wish they could bring back old models to today’s society.

I would love to get one of these. My great grandma had one and I always loved watching it wash. One of the best washers ever
It really is, I love a lot of frigidaires up and down washers, but this one in particular for how versatile it is with all types of loads

That’s a washer that cleans well ! They don’t make them like they use to .
What year is the machine?
frigidaire was probably a good brand back then when these we still being made in the 70s

Muy padres lavadoras que lavaban muy bien con mucha fuerza ya que lo malo era que gastaban mucha agua y luz

It's a mixed bag. They can handle tiny loads and ridiculously huge ones as well. I got a couple other videos of this machine I plan to upload
it's amazing
