this is really sad, they shouldnt play anymore especially whnen its not the original drummer. and plus there band is called the adolescents, and they are playing when there like 50 and fat. pnuk is suppposed to be full of energy, and full of anger. how can they have the energy like they did when they first played
The original drummer is deeply into the band he started just a few years after recording The Adolescents first LP. That's(the band D.I.) been his main focus since 1983ish when he got off the drum kit and focused on writing & singing songs for D.I. That being said, they went and got veteran Drummer Derrek O'Brien(former Social Distortion, Agent Orange, the same bands that all these guys were once in as well). So 1) Original drummer is not interested in any reunion 2) Derrek O'Brien a better drummer with more experience, fills in with the band where he was band mates at one time or another with 3 of these members. Choice 2 was the way to go. The "fat" and "old" issue. Of coarse they're going to be old as this band started in 1981ish, doesn't take a genius to figure that shit out. Yeah, 3 of them are overweight. I don't give a fuck as long as they're putting on a good show which they did so I don't see the big deal. Lastly, you mentioned the most cliché thing of them all; "Punk's supposed to be......". Fuck, there's no real set rules in real punk. Any punk Veteran will agree. The only thing the same about the first wave of punk is that they all sounded original. Other then that they were all different until record companies, the music industry and narrow minded shites demanded carbon copies or the same old shit. That's just my opinion on the subject.
I agree. There is a shelf life for youth-based music and bands. Especially iconic releases like Adolescents. Great bands like Adolescents, The Misfits; etc. should have kept their great legacy intact by never re-forming. Then there's bands like Black Flag, which I call, a Black Flag cover band with Greg Ginn on guitar, which just really dragged the Black Flag legacy through the sh*t pile. This music is a young sport.
