Just before lockdown I had a M6 22H. I was a Wilsonoid years ago, still have my PI5 Irons and TW 9 Wedges in a Wilson Staff Tour Bag in my golf room. While not playing spent a lot of time on Ebay , came across 4 and 5 Fybrids with Pro Force shafts bought for old time sake. The M6 is gone absolutely love the Wilson's. I like the stretched heads make them easier to hit and get airborne 😉😉. Wilson are a very underrated brand in my opinion because they come in at a lower price point and don't have a high presence on Tour.
As ever Simon, good advice. About 6 months ago, I picked up a 3 and 4 hybrid, both in great condition, off ebay for less than 30 quid. Ok, they aren't the best name, but they work. They do the job and are more than good enough for my occasional game!
120mph club head speed with a hybrid is mega impressive! I picked up a benross max speed 22 degree hybrid for around £20 a couple of years back, love it!
Funny you've just done this video......I fell out of love with hybrids some years ago, been playing long irons ever since. Anyway, I bought myself a set of Mizuno TP9s for £26 and then added 2 Cobra Baffler hybrids to the set for the grand total of £24. THEY. ARE. FANTASTIC.
Filming in the evening looks really good, it just looks like you need a nice cold drink too ! The low sun gives a good light and shows off the topography of the course so much more. Probably the ideal light to show us average golfers how to play around the greens, taking slopes into account etc.
I'm glad I came across this video, I have a set of wilson di9's 5-pw,aw,gw and sandwedge. Also, have the fybrid, fy club, 3 and 4 hybrid and 3 and 5 wood. Also, the Wilson spline driver. I have been using this set for about 3 years and love them. My golfing buddies can't believe the penetrating ball flight, while they are hitting these billowing high shots that catch the wind. There are so many clubs out there, the only way to accurately review them would be with an iron byron and gc quad. Everything is in what you like, most people are not going to buy set after set, club after club, the season is only so long for most of us. I'm working on getting another set for backup, since I'm a lefty and it is hard to find clubs other than getting them off ebay. I watched a video that PXG put out on golf ball comparison's and if you have a nice consistent swing, only a mishit hear and there, then try some of the top balls for the "average player" recommended after an iron byron comparison, not from a human being swinging the club, too inconsistent. That is where game improvement comes from.
Thanks Simon. Great message in this video. I shied away from hybrids for years but then finally took the plunge by trying a similar old club that cost about £20. That got me into hybrids and I'm now at the next price point - used Titliest 915s picked up on Ebay for about £40 each. Absolutely love them and I won't consider replacing them with anything more modern unless the heads fall off.
Wery good point. Experiment and learn is half the joy, finding out yourselv is great way to dodge BS when it comes your way. Develope a swing is learning by doing, old club dosent matter.
Hi simon I use a wilson flybrid 24 degrees and they are designed to fly high and land soft, easy to hit and distance as good as any 24 degree hibrid, out there ,cheers joe
Enjoying your videos very much and was wondering whether you could do some reviews of custom clubs an enthusiast might assemble (eg, Acer, Integra, or GolfWorks). There aren't many being done and it might fit with the direction your channel is going. I currently follow the Fits To You Channel but his reviews are too short and too few.
I hate hybrid, but the two that I do own are the best I played. Adams pro black and Adams prototype gold. They have little offset, more open, and look more like an iron. I only use them in the winter and spring time in California
Great video Simon! Bringing the golf as always! Also rick shields is going to be doing a left handed 18 holes in the future would be awesome for you two to collab in this! Would be great to see!
Have not watched the video yet but can tell you the Fybrid is a great club. It is the oldest club in my bag and I have tried several options and yet to find anything better.
Love it Simon, I started with #4 and #5 Adams Vtech3 (currently going sub£30 on ebay). Now gaming a Ping G400 #4 but still using the Adams #5 until I can get the right(ideally matching Ping #5 issue is my Ping#4 is gapped at 155yd with 10yd roll out & the Adams #5 is 135yd so I really need to get my #5 sorted as I use these instead of 4 - 5 irons. Keep up the good work, love the channel
I bought some used TM 2008 Burner Rescue hybrids off ebay in about 2010 for around $50-60 per. They have been in my bag ever since. Every 2 or 3 years some new stuff hits the market, I try them, buy them, put them in the bag, but always seem to go back to the Burners. They just seem to fit me. I doubt they will ever leave the bag before I die. New stuff, even if you don’t mind spending money, is not always the best.
If your starting out cheap options is all good you can upgrade over time my first set 3 to sand wedge no gap wedge cost me $16 NZD driver was $30 NZD 3 and 5 wood was $40 NZD putter was $25 NZD then tees, pitch repair tool, golf balls and trundler was another $80 NZD so all up set up for me $191 NZD which is not bad could of done it cheaper than that but was out on the course having fun my 6 year old set that was bought for me was about $400 I think
excellent things , my favourite hybrids . i.m not a goof golfer but I buy clubs! the 24 degree hybrid is my go to club . i'm 58 so not much point me buying new
Bought no 3 and no 4 callaway steelheads in lock down , a little bit more expensive 40 quid each , spotless as new, just because they were cheap and I was bored , 1st round after lockdown got a major shock - straight into the bag 👍 never touched one until then
I have a B Square hybrid my granny randomly bought me in Lidl about 12 years ago. It cost about £10 new but I can still hit it miles. I'd obviously like a Taylor Made or Ping version, but when buying clubs Hybrid is never a priority.
Great video Simon, do you think hybrid technology has improved over the last 5 years and irrespective of price, which one would be your pick over that time.
Right... I'm paused at 1m50s into video and posting this. I have a Smooth driver 10.5 stiff and switch around 2 out of my 3 reg Fybrids, 19.5, 21, 24 before I jump into my C200 irons 5-GW Let's go... Eek!!!
I've used what is basically a knockoff/clone of these the only thing I can say bad is I don't like the hosel bump right by the face and I hit them left, idk how to handle that 😅

Thanks for Watching Guys! Make sure to leave this video a like if you want the sun to be shining when you next play. 👌

Padrig Harrington used these clubs to win the 2008 Open Championship...
Stat
Hit that fabulous 2nd to the 17th that lead to the eagle.

I still have a 19,5˚ fybrid with an x-flex proforce shaft. Brilliant club.

Agree totally. If you are a begineer then second clubs are the way. And if you are a good player then you should be able to play with most things.

Am learning golf from you tube. Hybrids are more forgiving than my wife. Thin hit, long and straight in the air every time.
Great clubs, brilliant value for money, proforce v2 shaft is fantastic,

I had Fybrids when I first started playing 10 years ago, great value and would definitely recommend anyone who is starting, give them a try.
I've had one in the bag for years. I play off single figures and always go back to this club
Wery good point. Experiment and learn is half the joy, finding out yourselv is great way to dodge BS when it comes your way. Develope a swing is learning by doing, old club dosent matter.

I would love reviews of those as well

Adams hybrids are the sh*t
Great video Simon! Bringing the golf as always! Also rick shields is going to be doing a left handed 18 holes in the future would be awesome for you two to collab in this! Would be great to see!
I have it in 21 degree. My most forgiving club, super easy to hit and just awesome
Have not watched the video yet but can tell you the Fybrid is a great club. It is the oldest club in my bag and I have tried several options and yet to find anything better.
Honesty, keep doing that you’re doing. Love the vlog. 👍☘️

Adams A7 4h here ✌️ good club
I had the Fybrid 5 wood, amazing club. Wish I still had it.

I had those clubs and loved them.
Great clubs. The DIR concept was great. I still have Fybrid RS’s in my bag in Portugal. As good as anything since?
I have had nothing but good experience with W/S hybrids (and other clubs for that matter)
For sure, hybrids are good for average golfers. Nice to see you on golf course mate. How is the baby ?
excellent things , my favourite hybrids . i.m not a goof golfer but I buy clubs! the 24 degree hybrid is my go to club . i'm 58 so not much point me buying new
Anyone notice at 7:41 simon called it burford 😂😂
Bought no 3 and no 4 callaway steelheads in lock down , a little bit more expensive 40 quid each , spotless as new, just because they were cheap and I was bored , 1st round after lockdown got a major shock - straight into the bag 👍 never touched one until then
I remember when they came out and they had great reviews years ago
To this day the Wilson stand dH5 is one of the best hybrids I’ve used. Massive steal on 2nd hand market
I have a B Square hybrid my granny randomly bought me in Lidl about 12 years ago. It cost about £10 new but I can still hit it miles.
I'd obviously like a Taylor Made or Ping version, but when buying clubs Hybrid is never a priority.
Never liked hybrids til I bought a Taylormade Gapr Hi during lockdown, what a savage club
Great video Simon, do you think hybrid technology has improved over the last 5 years and irrespective of price, which one would be your pick over that time.
Gamed the FW woods, remember they were pretty good
I love the club, the feel is pretty great
Picked up some p790s 2017 for 300 quid plus my old set, great condition from the pro at the driving range. Good deal?
I just got 20/23 ping G25 hybrids for $50 each (Canadian = £60 for the pair). Best hybrids ever. Sold my TM M4s for double that.
Right...
I'm paused at 1m50s into video and posting this.
I have a Smooth driver 10.5 stiff and switch around 2 out of my 3 reg Fybrids, 19.5, 21, 24 before I jump into my C200 irons 5-GW
Let's go... Eek!!!
I'm a Hi-Handicapper and I'm far more confident of hitting my hybrid off the tee or fairway, than any long iron or wood in my bag.
Love these videos
I'm just started out and my mate gave me a 24° Wilson fatshaft hybrid and I picked up a 17° for £10 off eBay
Wilson's dark days... Fairway/hybrid concept... Fugly. But any hybrid with a decent shaft is a great improvement over 3/4 irons for new golfers
there's not much trouble at the front here at Burford. Simon, your not at Burford anymore.
I have an adams idea (2014) 4 hybrid cost £14.5 in dec19
if the shaft/club works for you ,second hand older tech is the way to go
I've used what is basically a knockoff/clone of these the only thing I can say bad is I don't like the hosel bump right by the face and I hit them left, idk how to handle that 😅
Have Taylor Made ever really improved on the Rescue Dual the made in about 2004? Marginally but not enormously in about 16 years.
Fybrids were legit. You clearly didn't want to like them but you still hit them well.
I have 2 Cobra hybrids I bought new over 10 years ago. I wouldn't part with them for any price, although they are practically worthless.
Simon.......you should be getting a 24-27 handicapper reviewing shit like this. I will volunteer like, but as for you......you could anything well
