I learn something new every time I watch Top Fives. Top quality production enhances the learning experience. As for ancient history, our timelines and schemes can be drastically altered when something completely lost or forgotten is unearthed. So much historic dogma is based on assumptions from limited data. The unsung heroes of archaeology constantly correct our look backwards.

Let us pray like the Egyptians
Built tombs to put their crypts in
    Fill the subways with inscriptions
And it's good enough for me.

The city of Akenaten (known as the heretic Pharaoh)(aka Amenhotep 3rd) who wanted a monotheist religion with only 1 GOD -the sun god ATEN). The town was called ARMANA. He was the father to Tutankhamen. Akenaten died early which left the boy as Pharaoh of Egypt. The Priests from Memphis or Thebes or Cairo(whichever was the old capital city at THAT TIME got King Tut to change back to the old capital and the old gods (for the priests made money making charms, idols, incantations that they sold to believers of the religion for money which they got wealthy. (Akenaten knew this for he observed this when he was a boy & his father Amenhotep 2nd ruled. Akenaten thought that all the gold and riches is to go to the Pharaoh(yet these Priest were making coin on the side) "That is not right according to tradition" which is WHY when he became Pharaoh when pop died, he moved out. The capital city IS WHERE THE PHARAOH RESIDES. He moved 100 miles up the river and on the other side and decided to build his new kingdom HERE. It was quickly put together using the mud brick method, so no stone structures. >Kind of like a modular city in modern days...built overnight. Religion was also changed to a singular god, the sun disc Aten. Nefertiti was his wife and she also was into this belief. After he passed away, the priests in Cairo saw their chance to influence the young Pharaoh to change back to Cairo and the old gods. He did that. They then took the city of Armana apart & tried to erase the name of Akenaten so nothing was left. They wanted to erase Akenaten from historical records. But his name was inscribed in more places than they could get to. Egyptians were much into "Tagging many thing with inscriptions in stone, so they missed some. It is with these bits and pieces that archeologists figure out the story.
. Because King Tutankhamen did the change for the priests, there is a second name on the gold throne that says Tutankhamun(which has an different meaning) > I can't remember what it is but it is significant. Because the boy king went back to the old ways "of business" the priests lavished him with gifts. He supposedly died hunting Hippos so died at 19. Way too early to carve him out a burial cave....so they gave him a burial chamber that was already completed for a lesser noble. He was buried Lower on the hillside than a Pharaoh NORMALLY GETS BURIED AT, so he was in a lesser's hole in the ground. Grave robbers knew that Pharaohs get buried high up the hillside, and lower nobility gets buried lower down the hillside. It was probably because of this and that his time on the throne was extremely short, he was put where a Pharaoh is not expected to be((and maybe that the Monsoon rains had started in the highlands and a river of mud and water would cover over the entranceway to the entry to the tomb because of all the silt. His hole in the ground would have been flooded over and silted up so there is no sign of an entranceway was ever there. He was forgotten. Howard Carter made the discovery on the LAST DAY OF "HIS DIG" of a top step. The rest is history. The tomb of Nefertiti has not been discovered yet as she outlived Akenaten and she did some stuff.
    Google the rest.
