Words cannot express how delighted I was to see a BDG reference in one of my favorite crafting series. It's only natural, of course-this channel has the sort of iconic brand that only Hugh Brandity could inspire.
I was absolutely thrilled to have found a way to incorporate a BDG reference in the video, so I'm happy that others can delight in that with me. I mean, if anything, I learned that I too can be my own boss.
You really step up the editing with each episode! I really liked it, looks awesome. 👍Lemme just scribble "desert tiles" on the crafting to do list as well... * sigh * Can't wait for the desert scatter, keep up the good work!
I am absolutely allured by your alliteration and attention to authenticity! I am just getting started with terrain building and your videos are by far my favourite (although all of you have aspects I will incorporate into my builds), not only for craft quality, but your realism is the best, your transitions are perfection, and your video editing and word play make these such an absolute joy to watch! Thank you, this video has given me a few ideas but I suspect you've already anticipated those and I will be eagerly anticipating your next video!
Thank you very much for your detailed and generous feedback! It helps me to know what people enjoy about my videos so I know what to keep focused on. I'm happy to inform and entertain and hopefully keep doing so haha.
Hey, I just wanted to say I love these videos, and I am excited to see your up and coming videos on desert scatter terrain! That being said, I was really looking forward to seeing your take on roads to incorporate into my forest terrain I have been making based on your last videos, and I personally feel that this video doesn't do your talents justice. I like how you showed that you can use desert terrain as roads and that is great, but I find that in this case it doesn't look as good as if you just made a video for forest roads specifically to use with your forest terrain. For example, having to layer forest terrain on top of large desert tiles makes it so you have to create a lot of desert tiles to put under all the forest terrain pieces so it is even, which means you have to put in a lot of extra time for a lot of pieces, have to double up on all the terrain on top of each other which feels bulky, and the divide between sand tiles and dirt tiles doesn't look very good from the side in my opinion. Plus, having to use pebbles to cover up the gaps between the road and forest tiles adds a lot of extra steps (like set up, clean up, etc.) that doesn't seem bad at first but can be annoying if you are having to transport your terrain to places to play with groups. Also, if you want to just lay the forest tiles on top of the desert tiles just in the areas you want a road to avoid having to make/bring all the desert tiles, it leaves a slanted look that doesn't feel very complete. I feel like if you made modular terrain for roads specifically, it would make it all look more seamless and put together, and cut out a lot of the extra pieces you would need compared to using desert tiles as roads. Anyway, I love your content and I think this is a great video for desert tiles, but I really think you can do better when it comes to forest road tiles. You have a lot of talent, definitely more than me! Thanks for the content and I look forward to more videos in the future :)
Unreal work. So cool. Clear and concise, beautiful end product, and a snappy video that's fun and entertaining. You can really see the passion come through in your work, thanks for sharing it!
I love seeing the knife technique to add texture! I used this method to add texture to my water tiles, which were made by laying drywall compound on top of XPS and then creating peaks of various stiffness and moisture levels with a pallet knife. Paint was what really sold them as water, though. I've never seen anyone else try this approach, and I love seeing it in basically the opposite setting (desert instead of ocean, with great results!).
Yes! I found the dabbing process quite satisfying and I can definitely see how you could make a waves-texture with it. Thanks for the compliments and expanding the creativity possibilities!
Everything so perfect and beautiful. Thank you so much for all of your inspiration and your great edited videos 😱 I want more 🙈 keep on the fantastic work
Will the next video cover dunes? There's this old Heavy Gear fan magazine, "Aurora", that had a great entry for making model dunes. If you lookup "Aurora Silhouette Magazine"(issue 3.5, pages 17-19) you'll see a fantastic dune guide. I betcha one of those dune hills would be fantastic in one of the larger modilar tiles!
Well thank you for a wonderful video. Thinking that if I wanted a snow scape I could go the soft sand approach but spray white and blue. Inspiring a return to Frostgrave...😊
Thank you for the compliment! :) And yes you could absolutely paint the soft sand to look like snow! I have tried snow terrain using Black Magic Craft's technique (he also made board for Frostgrave) in case that's helpful at all! It does have a more granular look but at least bypasses the need to paint when done.
Been enjoying your work! QQ on these, did you consider applying a matt varnish at the end just to seal in the washes or is that unnecessary/risks changing the final look?
I personally found it unnecessary because I'm pretty careful with my terrain and I don't anticipate them coming in contact with water, but if you'd like to feel more secure in the finish then you can absolutely spray with matte varnish!
I’ve been looking for a good way to do a dessert terrain board for ages (8th Army / DAK) and this is PERFECT!!! Eagerly looking forward to your desert scatter terrain!
One of those messages was asking for 'dessert'. So, I guess they won't be satisfied until you use Sponge Fingers and a packet of Lemon Meringue Pie mix on a 6x6 tile..?
My secret goal is to slip in ideas of making edible terrain so that eventually when I do so it won't seem so out of left-field 😂 Definitely not noting your suggestions for a dessert desert...
These look great, very granular. 😬 Also, have you thought of doing any video 'sands' puns? Off-topic/mildly related: I was on Mount Desert Island (home of Acadia NP) yesterday and it looked nothing like these tiles! 🤓

The project is awesome, but your video editing and filming are phenomenal! Very inspiring!
Thank you so much! Creator-feedback means so so much to me so I appreciate you taking the time!!
Your videos deserve wayyyy more attention

your videos give me such joy.
Whoa, hello editing magic! Every step forward your channel takes is delightful :)
Woohoo I'm delighted you think so!
doing research and planning terrian builds... you got me with the puns! I think I'm as excited for the puns as design ideas!
Oh my eyes!!! I think I pulled something with all the extreme pun-inducing eye-rolling. Good job!!!
I aim to single-handedly increase eye-related injuries due to extraneous rolling so it sounds like I am well on my way 😂
It took me about 2.5 seconds to catch the Gobi desert pun at the beginning and it set me off with the giggles for the rest of the video. Nice!
Hehe yesss. I'm glad to give puns their just reward.

I've been trying to create tiles a lot like yours ever since covid. Your videos give me even more motivation to continue. Thank you.
Aww I'm happy and humbled to provide inspiration!
Always nice to see your videos, your puns and your take on tiles it's the one i like the most (before yours RP archives was my go to)
Unreal work. So cool. Clear and concise, beautiful end product, and a snappy video that's fun and entertaining. You can really see the passion come through in your work, thanks for sharing it!
Ahh thank you! Those are all the notes I try to hit so I'm happy they came through!

The videos just keep getting better and better.
Yes! Glad you think so 😎
Just fantastic. The video start was fun.
Thank you!
Amazing as always!!
I have a campaign full of desert and savannah and am wondering how much of it I'll ever reuse, thanks for the inspiration!!
I often wonder the same thing with any specifically themed terrain. I'm happy to have provided some inspiration!
Your editing is top!
Gotta say...stumbled on your channel a few weeks ago and subbed - love your work, it's really well done!
Thank you very much and glad to have you here! 😊
Another soothing, informative and inspirational video - great work! I'm most appreciative of your noodling around how to tackle larger tiles 👏🏼
Woohoo! Yes I'd been shying away from the larger tiles but it seemed futile to do desert 3x3s. Thank you for the kind words 😊
Channel needs a least 30k subs so underrated
Haha thanks kind of you to say. Hopefully we'll get there!
Really good. Thanks!!!
Another great video as usual!
Glad you enjoyed it! 😊
A wonderful tutorial! Thank you so much for all your hard work.
Thank you very much for the encouragement :)
Everything so perfect and beautiful. Thank you so much for all of your inspiration and your great edited videos 😱 I want more 🙈 keep on the fantastic work
Thank you, thank you I'm happy you think so!! I am working on more as we speak, as they say ☺️

Thank you, thank you!!
heat gun works too for divots
2x1 terrain, in discount!
Jokes apart, it looks awesome! I cant wait for see the dessert scatter
Haha that is the goal to make the terrain as versatile as possible! Who knows, maybe I'll hit a 3-in-1 combo at some point 😂
Great looking project!
Thanks!
Can't wait for scatter!
Me neither!
I imagine one could also combine this with the previous River video to make some cool looking beaches
😮🤫 I think you may be seeing into the future there...
may be a dumb idea, but what about mixing the sand mix IN the sand glue?
Really cool 👍
Just wondering, why not just add the sand to the sand glue?
Great video
Thank you ☺️
Awesome!
I'd love to see some Dessert terrain, for use in candyland scenarios.
Brb let me go study intimately all of Dimension 20's A Crown of Candy battlefields.
@@raecheldoes I think the strawberry fields should have fault lines, as the area will be prone to strawberry shortquakes

What colour is the sandless tile grout?
It's white!

👌👌👌
You have a great voice

I’m subscribing solely for the puns
Worth it.
Pun counter!
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP

My favourite dessert is apple pie
What is apple pie but desert overtop of molten fruit.
Hi Raechel. You are so amazing! We want to send you 3D printer. Please let me know if you are interesting in trying them.:)
project is great but those transitions though
The boards or the editing? Or both? (Please say both) 😂
@@raecheldoes definitely both. Please make more terrain!
Meh
