I try this trick and really works, my truck derated to 5 mph in Clovis NM, I did what the video says and it took me all the way to Albuquerque to the dealer. Thanks a lot this video saved me a lot of money in tow bill. My truck is a 2012 Kenworth T700 with Paccar Engine.
I have 2023 Peter Paccar MX, it might helpful with the same engine and truck. So what I did is I took 3 fuses out in the fuse box which is under the hood on the driver side , small box you won’t miss it. I took A8 J1 L1, which were CAB ABS BATT, CAB ABS PWR, TRLT ABS. And very important truck still didn’t shift after 5-6 mph, I had to switch to manual and I could drive up to 69 mph 😂 however truck gains speed very very slow under 35-40 mph. So it could be only useful to get to a dealer 10-20 miles. I wouldn’t drive further in this mode. You won’t have engine brake , ABS , TC.
Thank you! I'm echoing the comments below. Pulled 2 ABS fuses on a 2011 Kenworth MX-13 and was able to drive away. Saved $300 on a tow! Just had to listen to the alarms for a little while. Even better, the phantom DEF derate problem went away.. again.. before it got to the shop. My emission system hates me!
Just pulled the TractorABS fuse on my 2012 KW with a Paccar engine. Saved me hundreds on a tow bill. Drove it to the dealer for repair myself. This video definitely saved my butt.
Thanks man, I just did this on my 2014 KW T680 after I got the horrible message “max derate” on my dashboard. The fuses box that carry the 2 abs fuses is in the engine compartment right in front driver side on my truck. Only was able to use like 65% of the power but that was enough to get it to 65mph on leveled road. Thanks again. Shared 👍
This video saved me TOW MONEY and my stop light turned off after driving !! I ran out of DEF and didn’t know what to do once I put def back in and still was still derated !
Thank you!!!!! You saved my ass yesterday with this trick!! I have a 2012 384 with Paccar mx13 and it worked perfect. Dinged for the 5 hours I drive home but it worked.
Thx, man, just bought a 2012 T700 automatic, 400k miles with a paccar a month ago and truck went into a 5mph derate mode after driving it about 60 miles on a flashing DEF light.. Code is J1939 which dealer said is a communication issue with the computer. I was able to bypass the derate just by taking only the 5amp ABS fuse out. No dealer to get me in till Monday and I have a hot load that needs delivered Mon and then home... About 2k miles total so hopefully I'll make it.. With no other problems either... Thx again a bunch... The chime though, can't get rid of it 😊
Dan Bratoi ye, problly some wiring with def or something of that sort. I had a guy run from CA to NY 2 times cause he didnt have funds to fix his truck with his abs fuse out and def light on. U could try and find like a speedo alarm or buzzer or something of that sort in the fuses and try to get rid of the chime that way... i believe i did it somehow last time
BulletMcNugget thx, I was able to make it home with chime and all, and fixed my truck... After all was just a damn fuse that somehow popped out of place and wasn't making contact at all... All this 2100 miles truck didn't use any DEF so I'm glad no other implications took place 😁
@@BulletMcNugget thanks brother I will check it out my truck is in the shop for last 3 days they r doing different experiments couldn't find anything I will do it and work I will take it to my home town. Thanks. This is my number if u can help me more 913 583 2146
Hi I got a question I got a 2012 kenworth t660 mx13 the check engine light is on and the red light is on as well an the regen light is flashing but it won't let me do a regen it's not in derate yet if I take out the fuses can I drive it to a shop like that or does it have to be in derate before you can do it thanks
I have Kw 2015 t680 paccar engine. Where are located those abs ing fuses and abs battery fuses? I could not find it in my fuses box. One box is inside the cab and another is outside right? Truck is derating and I do not know what to do
I had 12,13,14 kenworth t660 I had that paccar derate crap shit fuck me over on all trucks. Within 6 months work span. My boss just kept switching me into a newer truck out of the mechanic shops. Same shit. Only 5 mph crap.
Thank you...is there a way to bypass the whole dpf system? Maybe SOMEDAY right?.. Something like a exhaust extension that can be removed for repair later but have the driver bypass it so we can get where we need to go...
@@BulletMcNugget and by the way I was able to make a onetime delivery cause of this...I was one mile away from delivery and it went out....lol. Pulled the fuses and finally made it to my delivery..
BulletMcNugget i look around the transmission like you said in your other video and i didn't see a sensor and before I went to check the fuses i started the truck and the derate 5mph msg was gone but the def light and check engine light still one so I'm about to drive it home hopefully i make it it's one hour away, thx for the quick reply btw if you figure out how to bypass my truck plz let me know thank u again.
I wonder now where you get this video from??? The truck in the video is a Kenworth T-700, how I know, well I have both. Only the the T-700 have that fuse box under the box compartment in front of the passenger seat, the T-680 doesn’t have a fuse box over there at all. Actually the T-680 have three separates fuse boxes, one is located under the steering wheel, another one in front of driver when you open the hood and third one under the bunk when you open the side little door.
I have a T700 with the red check engine light on and my truck had derated to only 5mph. If I take both fuses out you're replying I should be able to keep going?
I took the sensor out and able to go more than 5mph now. But the red check engine light still on.should I ignore the red check engine light and beeping noise or will it still shut down if I attempt to drive?
Love how driver's are dumb enough to do this because they don't want pay a tow bill. There's a reason for the engine to derate. Doesn't do it for the hell of it. I pay 600 dollars get tow versus 20k or 30k for a motor.

I'm having that problem right now on my t680. Did you put the fuses back in after you arrived at the shop?
If anyones looking for the specific fuses for the t680, they are the A10 CAB ABS POWER
AND THE J1 CAB ABS POWER
I tried this. Did nothing but shut off speedometer, that's it.
this video helped me and my dad get back home today! Thank you! this needs more views. very grateful

Tiernan .Chidlow man i gotta open up a paypal page where people can pay for these helpful tips lol... jk, my pleasure!
BulletMcNugget would be a hell of a lot cheaper than a tow. Much appreciated.

This message does not work for an MX 13 Paccar engine on T680s 2014 and newer if the speed sensor is on your right front wheel
I just bought a derated 2015 579with the mx13 at auction, they had simply cut the right front abs wheel sensor wire.
Thx dude. This video save me a lot of money.
So what was causing this problem once you took it to the shop

Right
worked for me had low power, but drove 50 miles at 56 ish per hour
Is this only for manual transmission? Or can you still get up to speed in an automatic?

Abu Abdurahman pull speed sensor on back of tranny or abs sensors. Not sure which one it would be on a prostar

@BulletMcNugget
What about for a Kenworth T680???, this trick doesn't work at all, do you know the trick for the T680??? Paccar MX engine too.
Adolfo Prieto the video was done on a t680. If its not working, u problly left some fuses in still or ur problem isnt a def derate.

How to BYPASS DEF Derate on Cummins ? can you make a video ones you'll have a chance..
ua-cam.com/video/TeQfNFZT9Lw/v-deo.html

Sunny Bains should be same way as the video, remove abs fuses. Havent tried on a 2017 yet but i think it will be the same.

Dont ignore it. This is only a fix for you not to need a tow, to be able to get to your nearest shop.
Thanks bro I was able to get to a shop (970 miles) and get it fix. My DEF sensor in the tank wasn't reading correctly
Truly appreciate it!!!
My truck derated level 3, it shuts down after 59 seconds
First things first. Show me How to take out globe box door off.
Paccar sucks...
How to do that on 389 2018
If your Def tank level is bottomed out.. drill a hole in glass on guage. Hold needle above empty.. still in low power. But u get your speed back.
Love how driver's are dumb enough to do this because they don't want pay a tow bill. There's a reason for the engine to derate. Doesn't do it for the hell of it. I pay 600 dollars get tow versus 20k or 30k for a motor.
Your not going to hurt anything driving with a DEF derate except soyboy environmentalists
If your dumb enough to think this will hurt your engine you clearly need to pay the tow bill cause you know nothing about truck repair
You sir are a clueless m0r0n. Def derate doesn’t hurt anything
Ohhhhh waooooooooo it worked ! Thank you so much
