Scissors and Iowa. Creepy masterpieces. Damn. I have no words.
Could we call it disasterpieces? XD
They’re certainly not negative ones 😌
@@bozzgames7774 yes xD
Throw Gently in there too
Meh... They're okay, definitely not masterpieces. Prosthetics by Slipknot imo is a masterpiece, has a better build-up, is written better, is much darker, & more beautiful/trippy & hard in all the right places. Prosthetics is such an underrated song!
8:01
that cough + vocals there sounds so brutal, and after that Corey vomits. This song is a masterpiece
After the cough you can slowly hear him getting closer to vomiting his guts out
@@air9710
Yeah exactly
One of the darkest songs ever and still incredible
@Hanna Nordhagen lmao ok
@Hanna Nordhagen fair point😂that'll do it
Lmao this is a horror story it's the reality of our demons and nightmares we face not a fictional movie
@Hanna iowa and prosthetics will see about that
@Hanna You are super edgy
Altough everybody says that this song and Iowa remind them of self-harm, these are the only things that keep me from cutting myself. I find it comforting that these songs mirror my feelings
I understand. I was there at one point. Just hearing a song about it makes you not want to. It’s hard to explain, but it works.
I think people say that cause Corey cut himself with broken glass in the vocal booth recording Iowa
@@sammcgee9456 Thank you for your message. I am in a better place now, but I am glad that I can come back to this song everytime I might have those feelings again.
@@bearthechair2789 Yes, he did, altough I heard somewhere that he recorded it in his bathroom
Kasia Kausa it clears your mind knowing that there are other people going through the same thing. Especially when it’s in the form of a song. Someone telling you that they understand, is not the same as a singer writing a song about it. It’s the only way (at least for me) to understand that you’re never in the struggle alone.
I dealt with self harm and suicidal thoughts and attempts for a long time and this song is very hard to listen to because it brings out everything that I feel when I harm myself. It's that well done. It's a masterpiece.
Slipknot-‘Scissors’
System Of A Down-‘Mind’
Korn-‘Daddy’
Otep-‘Where The River Ends’
Beartooth-‘Sick And Disgusting’
Slipknot-‘Iowa’
Korn-‘Pretty’
Have a good night😉👍🤘🤘
anything else ?
Imo, daddy is the most disturbing. I mean, any song about being molested doesn't sound good. Especially when he had a fucking mental breakdown during recording.
Ah, time for the vodka
i'm never listening to Daddy again
@@onion6667 you should, it's an amazing song.
Corey Taylor.
The man that can scare the fuck out of you.😱 But could also sing you to sleep with his soft vocals😴.
Lmao every song of slipknot can make me sleep... Its not working for me im this way 😭
Just every metal song i mean
hes SO good at story telling like a concept album is so overdue for this band its not even funny
R.I.P Joey. For me he will be the best drummer forever.
I still to this day say he was one of the best drummers of all time, try and replicate People equal shit or Sciccors, it's extremely difficult and fair play to anyone who comes close to him.
Little not so known fact from 4:30 on is completely improv for the whole band
@@montagegaming5979 i mean, most of self titled sounds pretty improv by the band. they were poor as fuck, so probably lot of pressure from label and stuff, which was true. there are many things and stories circled around self titled/Iowa, so if this was improv, it would make really sense. but as for the source, i don't think of anything like that.
The whole sound effects from the scratching on the turntable and the riffs is just fitting for an ending after all that loudness in the beginning.
This song is definitely for someone who wants to feel adrenaline. Awesome song
That's exactly what I feel it sends goosebumps up my arms
This puts me to sleep QUICKLY
first time I listened to it it just felt crazy now its prolly one of my fav songs
When Corey said “I wanna die” I felt that...
Same
I honestly relate to this comment.
same sometimes
This is the heaviest song I’ve ever heard. It’s surprising, coming from a relatively mainstream band. I’ve listened to stuff like Neurosis, Dillinger Escape Plan, and Converge too. The rawness of this track is incredible.
Love how they have some catchy and sometimes poppy singles but usually the 2nd half of their albums is heavier and darker, that's their true face
That’s what I like about Slipknot. Sure, their instrumentals might be considered kinda soft compared to other bands out there, but the raw emotion and intensity of these songs is what has drawn me to this band. Same can be said about Korn’s music
Not surprising since all that's actually mainstream from slipknot are their pop songs. Most of the stuff from their first two albums is really dark and heavy
If you want something heavier than this (not lyrics wise but music wise) check out stuff like sodom, demo Hammer, or morbid Angel.
Since I wrote this comment, I have found bands such as Car Bomb, The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza, and Frontierer. This comment is now outdated.
3:28 one of my favorite parts in this song
The ending of this song... Reminds me of the feeling I had the last time I spoke with someone I once thought I loved. That seizing, violent, wretching surge of raw hatred and emotion, like a man at the end of his fucking rope, getting all that toxic shit out of your system.
Fucking. Awesome. This song is so underrated.
This song is REALLY hard to listen because the lyrics is like a person with schizophrenia, in the beginning it sound like a person struggling to stay calm and not lose control, in the middle it's sound a voice coming from his head telling him to do it, and in the end, it's just someone collapsing and screaming at themselves such hate words, I never cut myself, but I felt the emotions anyway and my god... that hurt like hell, I fell paranoid and sad now.
All the musicians along with Corey Taylor did such a great job on this track. It is driven by Corey's vocal performance and lyrics, he really brings the madness to life
I cut myself when I was young around 12 years old because I was always unheard, my dad and mum seperated, I lived with my dad but he was never home and no one would listen to what I had to say. So I went searching in my garage 'cause I was board and had nothing else to do. So I found a couple metal cds and put them in my stereo. This was one of them and it helped me for so long I didn't cut myself again after having this album. It showed me that other people have gone thru exactly what I went through
@@mathprodigy yeah I'd say Corey Taylor is the best lyric writer of all time
@@chickinagg9141 I'm glad you found that man and got out of that. Corey Taylor poured everything out. He gave it all in his performances. He's a deep, real guy. Him and the whole original Slipknot gang are true legends of music.
@@mathprodigy yeah I never got to see them live but my friends did and they said it was awesome!
now imagine actually feeling like this. this reflects what can go on in my head perfectly to where ive bonded with this song
For me is iowa

Giggity
4:20 this part alway makes my chest heavy.. this literally reminds of what it’s like in my head when i self harm or want to. it’s scary
Hah 420 😏🍃
listening to this at 3am while crying is just different
Yes ITS is!
I wish, i know this song When Since I got bullied at middle and Senior High School
:( I’m sorry man
Joey is gone but NEVER forgotten!
Joey = Elvis Presley of Drummers
It's not fair that we lost the best drummer!
@Jessica Miller those people don't know other good drummers because they only listen slipknot xD
He was to young and so was Paul...
@Jessica Miller The KING! :|
@@luanajoohyun6261 I'm a maggot and I'm proud sis :)
This has to be joeys best drumming
Is it just me or do just the sounds at the beginning make you feel uncomfortable and aggressive?
It makes me feel extremely uncomfortable and want to beat some drywall like a Kyle fully loaded on monster energy. Yes
Makes me feel fucking amazing
@@hazelthorne356 yeah I used to be mentally unstable for a while and let's just say this shit helped lol
Same feeling with Iowa makes you want to punch nuns and babies

Just turned this song on while it was raining. As the intro sounded a massive clap of thunder rolled. Shivers went down my spine. Beautiful.
7:30 until the end is the best imo, idk there's something about that part compared to anything else
I remember when I first heard this song I just sat there thinking to myself "woah.. I though prosthetics was heavy.."
it is lol
The tremble that this music produces slightly outdoes the pounding within my chest
And through this 8-minute process, the stress on my veins and cerebrum soothens
Funny that suffering endowed in someone else's wind pipe calms my own..
In all honesty, I don't know where to go or how to tread anymore
All I understand is..
This song on repeat is the only thing stopping me from taking the shortcut...
This is a beautiful fucking comment

Dont ever listen to music like this while tripping on ANYTHING
The most bad ass song Slipknot ever made. It was the equivalent of Korn's Daddy. Those were the days, the music was the best back then.
Iowa?
As someone who’s dealt with mental health issues for some years now, I feel like this might be the best musical approximation of an extended anxiety attack that I’ve ever heard.
Hey, I appreciate the work and time you've put into this :)
Bumb a Thank you!
I agree brotha you fucking rock!
Awwww helllll yeaaaah!!!!
This remind me my self harm. It's disturbing. I definitely love it.
spectr um Joey wrote the lyrics about that, but Corey improvised the end.
Be Happy Fucking Emos
me too
@chronicle tap We just did drugs and had sex.
This is the song that got me into Slipknot
Well, now that I stopped feeling suicidal this song is more uncomfortable than it used to be, but it was so therapeutic once.
I coverd this song and man lemme tell you what it's hard as fuck to replicate Corey's anger on this song
It's pure raw anger
AS I INJECTED! THE CANDIED HEART THAT I SELECTED!
that part hit so hard i came
😨
Ayo?
Ay yo? 🤢..... should i call the fbi or something.
Doctor kink? Perhaps 😅😂
i miss the old slipknot
RIP Paul and Joey.
This is a brilliant song
Lol 😂 Kakakakaka
Corey's "favorite" song apparently. I gotta go with Diluted or wait and bleed. Or just their entire self titled album I guess
J Dogg mines either my plague or scissors
I'd probably go with their entire self-titled album too.
He said disasterpiece was his favorite
Corey literally had a mental break down after recorded diluted and had to be consulted for 3 days and couldn’t record for weeks
Wait and bleed is good but nowhere near my favourites
very relaxing this song
Loved it
this is how the inside of my head sounds like
Out of the many, many (many) great Slipknot songs they made; this has always been my favorite.
that last 10 seconds is masterful from corey
Pure, raw angry towards the end.
I need a shower after listening to that.
When ever a metal or rock song is long your bout to here some dark sh!t
Wish they could play it live soon ☹️🔥🔥🤘

I wanna go back and have the expierience of listening to this song for the first time again, I have listened to this song so much now, it still creeps me out but the first time was the best.
Happy Valentine's day, my fellow sic fux of the internet.
He’s talking about injecting heroin and unhealthy attachments to women incase anybody was wondering
This song itself is heavier, scarier and more intense than the entire Iowa album.
You should listen to it more then
@@MrWizard15 ppl need to stop riding iowas dick like its the heaviest thing. Scissors is heavier than some iowa songs
Iowa.
Iowa.
I reckon at 4:12 it might say biding to keep me calm. Still well done on picking up the lyrics though
nah they are right
For the longest time I didn’t think this song was dark I just listened to it
I cant seem to find any live version of Corey doing the "I want to die" part. Does the band purposely avoid it?
Platinum Patience the original song was written by Joey Jordison. And corey added the last parts in
According to Corey, Scissors is his favorite Slipknot song to play because it was mostly improvised. So the odds are that he simply felt the desire to do that when they were recording it and then never again.
@@noesunyoutuber7680 he said disasterpiece was his favorite
@@croazzb3525 Really, huh? The articles I saw all reported him saying it was Scissors.

Goddamn, this is a fucking masterpiece....
This song is why I have headphones. My parents yell at me for not wearing them :D
4:33 I love this scram
I think this song is about finding drugs to be happy and having withdrawals
Could be part of the undertones as well, yes.
Thanos Dione a good song can mean anything to you, that's why it's so good. The lyrics can apply to whatever you're going through and still be meaningful even if that's what they weren't intended to mean
I think it is about drug use, self harm, sexual abuse and suicide. It all comes together in this song because all those things also come or came together in corys life. They all blend in together, it´s hard to see a structure and the style of writing/ the metaphors are rather dark.
Thanos Dione nice pfp
I'm pretty sure it's just a dark song about break up. I saw this somewhere, but not sure where.
this is about self harm so it hits pretty deep..
Here after Corey's announcement...bro this song is so dark😬 but 🔥
I loved this song when I was 9. Been a year.. and it was better thanks to Slipknot
Best cure for a hangover 👌🏾

It’s
“Don’t lie! I’d die your way! I ran away!
