At the end of the video, you have a pen mandrel between the stocks!!!! I hope it doesn't wobble!!!!! Thanks for the video and example of a lathe stand.
Very nice Keith! I'm in the process of building a stand for my new Jet and will steal some of your ideas. The sand in the bottom is an excellent idea. One comment though ( not criticism at all), it's a lathe stand and you put store bought handles on it! Maybe I'm weird but that would be my first turning project!! Great job. Thanks for sharing. Take care, Dave
One f the most entertaining videos I have watched. I love it!!! Hope you make a lot of money off it!!! Great plan also!!! I like it, but the only thing I wish is that you never introduced that LOUD music...bout blew my speakers first time it came on...I already had the volume up near 100% and then WHAMMO it hit me like a ton of bricks...also, if you put something on that little lathe that would have shaken the bench WITHOUT sand too much, it was too big and bulky for the lathe anyway...
I love your build process, it is somewhat like mine. Forgive me for my safety input. It was drilled into my head from work. I hope you are using eye, ear and respirator protection along with shoes that will protect you from injury.
Keith, Just a couple of questions on your great design. 1. Are all four legs cut at an angle, or are the back legs vertical? 2. What is the length of the extra 2x6 which is glued and screwed onto the leg assembly and supporting the cross pieces? Thanks,
Herms Radatus I don't remember. I screwed it up and had to play with the spacing as I went. I wasn't trying to create a specific angle, I was just trying to fit in a specific space. the bottom measures about 24" front to back and the top is about 14. Sorry I am not me help
Hey all, I took some time to plan a 5-foot version of Keith's stand in Sketchup. Here's the result with a list of the lumber/hardware needed. I didn't do drawers, so it was much simpler. agileadam.com/2017/03/lathe-stand-plans/

That looks like a solid build. I was looking froward to the "Awkward shaped block of wood" test, but it never came!!
I agree with David M, shop made handles will be a cool future project:>) just found your channel, looking forward to many more videos from you.
thanks david. I did think about making the handles but I wanted it to be done... Maybe in the future

thank you for sharing and the parts list respect! Like and subscribed.
Angles for the cuts?
Do you have plans of this ??
30 degree splay on legs top and bottom ?
Garry Brpwine - NO. the angle worked out much smaller than that, closer to 12 degrees. I think the bottom of my stand was 24" and the top was 16"
Thanks for the information
Keith
Great job. Built like a brick **** house.
Keith,
