It really isn’t, the major carriers employ track gangs that are called “ production gangs “ and the equipment travels on dedicated flat cars to the different subdivisions that are scheduled, work being scheduled with track curfews and each piece of equipment moves along at a steady pace removing the old and at the same time replacing with the new….my 40 years allowed me to view many miles of rail replacement…
man, you don't really let up, do you? another great, uplifting video on local rail ops from a shortline perspective.... welded rail? on a shortline? where is the money coming from? is there rail freight growth taking place in SE Massachusetts? Bill in Bellows Falls, Vermont
They are in the process of expanding/extending commuter rail (MBTA) to both New Bedford, MA and Fall River, MA. Combination of Federal and State monies.
@@alanbare8319 yes, another South Coast video mentioned both cities getting commuter trains decades after everyone else..... better late than never.... hope rail freight benefits.... thanks for the feedback, Alan
@@williammorse8330 I believe it will a combination of commuter and freight. Rumor has it that there will be a second track laid along side current trackage. We shall see. This has been a 20+year promise from both Boston and Washington, DC.
@@williammorse8330 stil waiting room see how they are going to handle that low bridge in North Easton - that line is scheduled in phase 2 , but there is going to need be a lot of work to electrify that section. No double deckers for them ....
So far as I know, the rail line wasn't abandoned. Passenger service ended decades ago but I think freight still used the line. The railways are getting rehabbed/upgraded for an expansion of commuter rail service to/from Boston. The goal is to run passenger trains to Taunton, Fall River, and New Bedford. For that to happen the old railways need to be upgraded with new tracks.
so a question.. how many miles of rail are on the train shown.. i count 40 rails.. 4 rows of 10 so it the rails are a quarter mile long.. that might be 10 miles of rail.. 5 miles of single wide track or only 2.5 miles of double wide track. just wondering..
I don’t know that area and I’m confused. The CWR train goes one way then stops. Then the other locomotive with a few cars exits the siding to couple to the CWR train and go the other direction? Or did the camera get swapped to the other side of the crossing?
Thanks How long did it take them of How many 1000 of Ft of rail. You did a great job on filming for us railfans. By the way I am in Falmouth IN. CSX COUNTRY. GOD BLESS + + +
Nice video!
Thank you!
Great news and progress, keep up the great work guys!
I would love to see a video of that track being put down
This is great news for the south coast
Hopefully you can get some video of the laying of some of that welded rail. That has to be quite the process!

Okay, I am intrigued! How... do those rail cars articulate going around curves?
The rails bend surprisingly easily
So true. The flexibility is why they last so long. Always been a fascinating concept….
Like giant spaghetti noodles made from steel
Great pictures keep it up ...
IT'S REALLY HAPPENING!😀

Reactivated rail line?

I used to live in New Bedford where trains were very scarce. Where is this stretch of track? does it parallel route 6 or 195? near Reed Road?
This is the New Bedford line between Myricks and the New Bedford wye. It parallels Route 140
Counted 12 sets of rail so the amount of rail is 12 times longer than the train?
How many miles of rail are there ?
Is there a video of the rail being unloaded ?
That would be something to watch.
