    This is filled with some awesome advice! The "whole person" concept is so important. I saw a guy during the most recent rated board with 90s on the AFOQT get non-select but someone with 60s get select. You have to frame yourself as an asset in any way you can and not get too discouraged by any weak points in your package.
    My advice: When you apply, try seek out an online community of fellow applicants. If you don't get selected the first time, others will share their packages and offer advice for the next board. If you do get selected, you can also help others as well as get in touch with the people who may be at OTS with you.
    Thanks for the video!

    One of my fondest memories of officers was when I was a staff sergeant and I was reliving a younger airman who was stationed on the flight line (Dover AFB) so she could get chow. She told me that a male Capt had attempted to enter the restricted area with no id, and maybe 5 minutes after she left this genius decided to try entering the RA again and when I told him to stop and go back to get his id, he tried to pull rank and push passed me at which time I tackled, cuffed, and had him taken back to the shop, to await his superior. 😁

Is that done for the national defense ribbon as well ?? also, can officers earn the honor graduate ribbon through OTS ?? or is that strictly for BMT only ?? I think that would suck for members who aren’t prior enlisted (ROTC Academy)

    Great video! I do have a question for you though. I have a bachelors degree and I am planning on getting my Doctorate in Physical Therapy, and would like to serve in the Air Force as a physical therapist. I reached out to a USAF health professions recruiter and was given a list of "health professions scholarship programs". The list does not include Doctorate of Physical Therapy programs. Because of this, I am under the impression that I am unable to join the the AF before I begin my doctorate program and use the G.I. bill to fund the program. Is this true? A lot of active and retired military personnel tell me "you can have the Air Force pay for your physical therapy degree" so I am a bit confused. Thank you for your help and fantastic UA-cam channel!

    • @BlackAnt27
      @BlackAnt27 4 роки тому +3

      You do know that it’s harder to commission for AF coming from a different branch right? You’ll have to take the AFOQT which is the Asvab on steroids.
      You got it good in the army. Commissioning for your branch is a little easier. If your GT score is 110 and above you can start the process for green to gold. If it is not you’ll have to retake your asvab at your nearest testing center.
      If you are completing a B.S you’ll have to be entering your Junior year of college, for a Masters you’ll have to be able to complete the degree in 2 years max.
      Or
      You can apply to be a warrant officer depending on your MOS. For pilot, any MOS and rank can apply, MOS specific must be at least E5 and above. No college degree required for pilot.
      Might want to check Warrant out. More pay, less politics.

      Great question! So you can apply for OTS as far as a year out from graduation. But by that time it can completely change! I don't see them only accepting STEM degrees long term. The AF is all about diversity, I just think it's competitive right now so they are asking for specific degrees.

    Hi Cynthia.
    I do have some questions if you don’t mind. A little background about me. I am 37 years old and currently an MBA student.
    1- Can you tell us more about the how a day look in OTS trining? What they do through a day?
    2- Can you be stationed in other military bases around the world? Or only at Air Force bases?
    3- After your training, do you have privacy when you take a shower? (I heard you don’t have privacy in the MBT).
    4- Can I become a JAG officer, and what is the possibility to be? And, how is the process to apply?
    5- How you can apply to space force as an officer?
    Thanks you.

    • @SpaceNerdConfessions
      @SpaceNerdConfessions  4 роки тому +1

      Rami Abdul-hadi
      1 - typical day-to-day at OTS you wake up really early, day is filled with classroom academics and drill academics. After dinner typically you’re released for self studying in the evening in the dorms
      2 - really depends on the job but you can be stationed anywhere, there are Air Force bases worldwide
      3 - during basic training for the enlisted you don’t have privacy for showering but in officer training school you share a bathroom with your roommates but it’s private
      4 - you can become a JAG officer I will eventually discuss a officer program for that job specifically
      5 - currently there is no specific guidance for Space Force recruiting, right now they are just transferring some Air Force jobs to the Space Force. As soon I know more information I will be posting on my channel!

    • @SpaceNerdConfessions
      @SpaceNerdConfessions  4 роки тому

      They don’t look at your prior experience in any sort of database when you apply. They strictly just look at your OTS package, that is why it is vital to have accuracy and to make sure everything is noted. My systems all refreshed when I commissioned from enlisted, other than my previous rank history.

      You can apply as a new student but it’s based on GPA and harder to get into the transition Stu program. If you get 6 months of experience and start your application, you can go in with your 1 year of experience by the end of your process and be considered “fully qualified” which goes much more smoothly with less GPA emphasis. If you work a desired specialty, especially, this will help you!

    My cousin is a logistics officer and has been telling me that I shouldn't waste my degrees (along with the rest of the family). I want to reach out to an officer recruiter, but it feels awkward after telling the enlistment recruiter that I was ready to start his process. Also, I previously postponed my enlistment (on the recruiter's recommendation) last spring after getting a summer job that I'd wanted for a while.
    Should I be worried about putting on the brakes again with the enlistment recruiter? Just don't want to spoil any chances of enlisting if commissioning doesn't work out. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

      Air NG, you would have to contact the recruiter at the Wing you are looking at joining. They will be able to tell you what openings they have. The openings are generally much more competitive than Army NG.
      I'm a civilian that is looking commission with the guard and all this information I got it from Reddit. Reddit has a lot of good information. /r/nationalguard /r/airnationalguard /r/airforceots /r/armyocs

      As AD enlisted you have the option to place chase/front and from there you can put a commissioning package in. OTS is the primary commissioning source from USAF Guard/Reserve I believe. The best way to accomplish this is to contact the Guard unit of interest and they will give you options or best course of action!

      Your AFOQT scores are part of your OTS application. So you would need to accomplish it before applying and make sure you meet the minimum requirements for the test.

    Im currently a e3 in the army switching over to officer in the Air Force is my goal, I’m goikg to get my associates and bachelors and become an NCO before my first contract then go for the Air Force I just want a medical job in the Air Force as an officer how difficult u think it would be for a future army nco that is educated with lots of certifications and a high gpa with no problems involving the law, I do have a good amount of awards in army for an e3 I’m pretty high speed also I do want my degree in biology I’m sorry I’m just babbling at this point I’m just scared or getting rejected by the Air Force but tbh if the Air Force won’t take me I’ll have navy

      Sorry I never saw this comment!
      Keep pushing and keep being sharp! Continue your education, be awesome at your job, and be an innovative leader. If you want a medical job I would get in contact with a USAF health professions recruiter. If you are still undecided just keep doing your research on commissioning into the USAF to make sure you are setting yourself up for success.

    I am a year out from graduation; however, I am in clinical psychology which isn't a STEM field degree. I still want to go to OTS either for clinical psychology or linguistics. What would be a good starting point / path for me? Or will they even take me with my degree not being in the STEM field?

    • @SpaceNerdConfessions
      @SpaceNerdConfessions  4 роки тому +1

      It definitely doesn’t hurt to try! Especially with your career fields of interest being very specialized. May give you more of a chance, in my opinion. You can apply as many times as you want so might as well start early right? And I’m sorry if I made it seem like they are only taking STEM degrees, which is not true. Those degrees are not mandatory, just highly sought out for.

    • @SpaceNerdConfessions
      @SpaceNerdConfessions  4 роки тому +1

      Also by looking at the requirements for being a clinical psychologist officer in the USAF you would need a PhD. And there is not a linguist as an officer I believe...

      @@SpaceNerdConfessions if I'm getting ready to graduate with my undergraduate degree, would I be looking to the ROTC program to get my graduates degree? Or would I need to continue college on my own until I had the education to qualify? I would love to join the air force sooner rather than later; however, I also want to go straight in as an officer. This entire process is a little confusing for me but I know I have a passion for clinical psychology and I want to serve our country so I'm trying to get my ducks in a row so to speak.
