Gelmersee und Gelmerbahn September 2023

Der Gelmersee wurde gleichzeitig mit dem Grimselsee (bis 1929) gebaut. Der Gelmersee hat ein Nutzvolumen von 13 Mio. m³ und liegt auf 1850 m ü. M., etwa 50 m tiefer als der Grimselsee. Das Wasser stammt teils aus dem Grimselsee (über eine Stollenverbindung), teils aus dem Einzugsgebiet rund um den Gelmersee.
Die Gelmerbahn ist eine Standseilbahn in der Gemeinde Guttannen im Berner Haslital in der Schweiz.
Sie führt vom Handegg hinauf zum Gelmersee und hat eine maximale Steigung von 106 %. Sie wird vom Betreiber als steilste offene Standseilbahn Europas bezeichnet.
The Gelmersee was built at the same time as the Grimselsee (until 1929). Lake Gelmer has a usable volume of 13 million m³ and is located at 1,850 m above sea level. M., about 50 m lower than Lake Grimsel. The water comes partly from Lake Grimsel (via a tunnel connection) and partly from the catchment area around Lake Gelmer.
The Gelmerbahn is a funicular railway in the municipality of Guttannen in the Bernese Haslital in Switzerland.
It leads from Handegg up to Gelmersee and has a maximum gradient of 106%. It is described by the operator as the steepest open funicular in Europe.
