RSVP for the Benji & JiaHao 2023 Plant Swap here! partiful.com/e/b7HvKDDAb1FwwBLWxo1K Details and information are in the description of the Partiful link. I hope to meet some of you there! I might bring Theo if my mom is able to make it and watch Theo the entire time lol.
Personally, for the bedroom, I think I would leave that Monstera there. I think the green contrasts quite nicely with the brick and adds an organic element to the brick, which makes it look a little less harsh and angular whilst still giving an interesting element to the room. As for the wall behind the bed, I think I would go for a bunch of small art pieces placed in an asymmetrical loose arch that starts at the top of the fireplace and makes it's way down towards the end of the bed, and I'd consider attaching some lamps to the wall instead of on a table. It's a little less practical, but a table can always be placed in other areas, like at the bottom of the bed instead of the sides. Or, if one is really needed, there are clip on ones that can actually be attached to the bed frame if you have a compatible bed-frame type. That way you can have a bedside table on one or both sides of the bed whilst still being able to keep a monstera, and whilst still being able to access the door next to the bed. Idk though, that's my two sense.
great recommendations! Yesterday I put a sconce on the wall's right side that works well. It's an old wood accordion lamp from IKEA that I've had for a while. I'll make sure to include it in a future video. And I really like the idea of the loose arch, I'll try that out.
@@benjiplant Oh, thank you. I had a sudden strike of inspiration whilst I was watching your video so I thought I'd come up with an idea for your room considering you were having some thoughts on it- I personally don't think I would recommend a large picture, atleast not one that's centered. I say that because the wall is already asymmetrical, and trying to keep the bed symmetrical may offset the visual balance of the overall room. Also, about the back garden: Personally, I would look towards using the flower and leaf fall as seasonal mulch for your plants. Having a lot of leaf fall and flower fall actually massively helps with the fertility of the soil, and can also be a very useful shelter for a lot of the wilflife in the area. It does take some effort, but all you really need is a plastic rake to get the leaves off of your grass. As for the grass itself, from what it sounds like from your brief description of what happened to your planting bed, your garden does seem to be on the dry side, so I would potentially consider uptaking the grass and replacing it with Ruschia Nana (Dwarf Carpet of Stars) which is a bit more drought tolerant. Plus, it's an evergreen ground cover, so it stays green all year round. It is a bit more expensive, and it does take more effort to put in as you buy them in plugs and not seeds, but it is significantly more dought tolerant, takes a lot less care in terms of nutrition, and it does flower under the right conditions which benefits wild-life and offers some seasonal interest in both spring and autumn. If not, then I would still recommend another ground cover other than grass. As nice as grass looks, I find that the commonly found lawn grass species are pretty easily taken over by other plantlife, don't do well in dry areas, and they don't do well in shaded areas either. Plus, there's just other plants (like creeping Chamomile, or steppable creeping thyme) that have more overall interest than grass does. Idk though, that's just two cents. I don't really know how invested you and Chris are in-terms of gardening, but I do imagine that you two would like to get into the more fun stuff as this is your first time having a private garden. Anyways, I'll make sure to keep my eyes out for the next video. I'm excited to see what you do with the bedroom ☺Good luck!
Wow! It was beautiful before but now your place is out of a high-end interior design magazine! I love the room without TV and the area with the desk is so serene now!
Your home is beautiful! Embrace the quirks. I keep imaging a row of staghorn ferns hanging in your kitchen above the windows. The bathroom could be a nice soaking tub sanctuary when filled with plants and alternate soft lighting. Also add a nice rug/runner on the bathroom floor to distract from the tile. I did this in my bathroom and it made all the difference.
Benji you have done quite a bit in a short time. A few suggestions; - Bathroom has lots of potential. A paint job, tub curtain, decorative towels. And peel and stick tile 🤔 - I would swap the bedroom rugs. Add one more pillow to the beds and fold down the duvet for a neater look. Add a swag light near the monsters along the bricks. Lastly.. 😄 - Swap outdoor couch placing so it's not under the fig tree. Figs release latex Sapp. Shade cloth is a great idea👌🏻 Looking forward to the reveal.
you put the Ikea curtain tension wire up correctly, it is just infamous for being impossible to make perfectly taut by hand, and sags under the weight of even the lightest curtain
You did good - Never expose your back to so much glass, you'll feel like youre being watched or not in control. Flipping the desk makes you able to view the windows. Same applies to that chair you moved away - Never block the door way, especially during an emergency create a clear path
i love the curtains!! they add a lot of textur, that linen blend compliments the wood so well! hanging them from the ceiling also enhances de windows height, just chefs kiss
Congrats on being chosen for the home tour, Benji! Don’t stress! Keep it livable looking. Be honest with your cleaning and decorating for the home tour. People love seeing how other people live and function in their homes. For your “elephant in the room": have you thought about just taking down the plywood covers? Maybe turn them into more shelving, like mantle shelving flanking the fireplace? I would expose the brick fireplace and paint them white or some other color other than black. Then rehang that mirror and/or add one of those MCM golden sunburst wall decorations. As for your tv, have you considered getting a Samsung Frame TV? Samsung also sells magnetic frames you can stick to the edge of your Frame TV to give it that “hanging picture” illusion. From there, you can have your Frame TV display art on it when not in use (from their library or uploads you can add). Also the staircase, have you thought about repainting the steps? That black paint really makes your stairwell quite dark/gloomy. Or maybe strip off the paint, sand them down, and recoat them with a stain/varnish to enjoy the natural grains? In your primary bedroom, your Monstera deliciosa looks fine there. I feel it’s that exposed brick that “hides” your plant. Paint that brick white (to match the wall) or another color to help your plant stand out better.
I love getting notifications of your videos, whenver im having a bad day or just want to relax, i watch your videos and it makes everything better!! Ty
I hope you don't feel pressured to change your design too much for the upcoming house tour, because I think the way you decorate is beautiful, very cozy, lived in and warm, it's perfectly fine the way it is (I only think that the black chair looks better against the window, because it's such a heavy piece) :)
To prolong garden furniture life using covers is a night is a good thing to do. Not only protect it from a sun, wind or rain but plant and animal damages.
Benji, I would really love an insight to how you would style certain areas. Maybe a video where your subs send you pictures and you give advice? I really love these videos and how you 'liven' up your home!
ooh, i really wish paige would give you more time - you guys just moved in! i hope you dont have to rush just for her vid and can still enjoy the process of the new house slowly coming together - that time is so special and personal and creative. 💭🌿
i think putting the monstera from the bedroom into your dining room, kinda replacing the dracena marignata, would be quite nice. your dining room has a lot of straight, hard lines and is pretty symmetric. breaking that up with the rather round, organic leaves of the monster might make the room feel more "flowy". the plant could pose as a contrast to dining table, door-frame, cabinet, window etc. and would look nice next to the round lamp. also, i LOVE the combination of dark monstera green with red, your chairs pretty much carry the effect i'm thinking of. the color of the pot would also correspond to the rather dark pottery on the cabinets shelves.
That plant looks great in front of the brick. For behind the bed...a stretched section of fabric that has the colours already in the room....and dragon flies birds etc to accent the fabric print pattern. YOU can still add some oil paint onto it when you get time & feel the urge. Beautiful fabric can have many lives over time so $$ well spent.
Wow. Love seeing the work in progress. Every time there is such a wonderful and unexpected transformation. I would use something like fluted glass look window film on the bathroom window. Let's enough light in whilst still providing privacy. Super easy to apply and remove so it is a cheap and renter friendly solution.
I love your videos and your style! As someone who paints rooms and murals, I'd opt for a warmer blue instead of a cool one, because the wood you have is a warmer orange-hued wood. The cool blue would clash with the warmth of the bricks. Maybe color match your wood and then find the right complementary blue for it from there. Also don't forget to test the swatches against the room in different lighting, and compare it with your plants and the brick.
I love the monstera in that corner. I think a small glass table in front of it would look great and be functional and I think a large moss art piece would look cool above your bed. You are so talented with scaping and top dressing plants, I bet you could make a really interesting moss art with different types of decorative moss. I've seen people make them on a square piece of wood or on a mirror.
Hi Benji! Your home is stunning and I particularly appreciate when UA-camrs feature design icons in their home. While the bathroom is not the best, it could definitely improve! I think the Mayday light is too harsh and does not compliment the space (I like it a lot and I have it too on my balcony for summer nights), and the room would look so much better if you added "soft" shapes and "soft" texture. Towels are a must in there, you could even try to thrift a vintage bathroom set with embroidery if you're going full retro with the bathroom. I would take down the picture honestly and add a few plants + a soft grow light. If I were you I would definitely ask your landlord if you can paint the walls though, that would improve the look of the space a lot. In my country you usually have to re-paint the walls anyway when you leave a rental, so maybe I'm biased. Thanks for the good content!
Oh also- regarding your privacy/neighbor issue. I thought perhaps you could plant some CLUMPING BAMBOO along the border of the neighobor's yard, to prevent them from seeing into your living room, and create more of a private oasis in your backyard. You could even hang some of your Hoi An lanterns out there, and put solar lights inside of them. (I have done this and it works great.) It would be lovely?
What about a single floating shelf behind the bed, you could put an anglepoise lamp on there, some art and pots etc. I think that would add some depth and colour to that area
Hi Benji, I like the changes you've made and the curtains certainly softens the room. Since you've taken out the "bulky" side cabinet a "slim table" or vignette with a shelf and mirror may work since there is an entry door? Love the display of plants that you so lovingly potted! The outdoor patio area is nice...all of your work(s) in progress, I know, will be beautiful! Btw, maybe LED bulbs/lighting may illuminate the bathroom. A plant swap is so cool!!
🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂 Thank U Benji for sharing ur home. Lots of good ideas on the way...I myself love greenery but so allergic to dirt & grass 🤭 So I have a wonderful Gardener & makes me smile when the job is complete. The backyard was my Moms pride & joy🌳
In the bedroom, you could make/get a state of the art headboard and some nice night lamps over it. Love your home and started watch your channel when you moved there, so I'm not here for the plants but love them anyway. Also I LOVE your travel vlogs.
All these people on here given a opinions about how you should redecorate your home!!!!! Young man do what makes you happy!!!!! And don't let nobody else tell you otherwise!!!! They're not living in your home 🏠
I feel like you could put a headboard behind the bed in the upstairs bedroom. If it's the same depth of the fireplace, you could position the bed in the middle of the wall. Might have to be a DIY or the headboard would extend more on the right side of the bed, but i think it would look interesting and solve the bed placement issue 😊 as always i love your style and how well you explain your decision porcess ❤
Hii benji !! I love the house update videos, so realxing and cozy, i hope one day i can have a house and make it look as beautiful and cozy as yours, thx for the videos ❤. Hope everyone has an amazing week
Love your home Benji! I think a little paint and permission from your landlord for a mini bathroom reno would make your home complete! I know you're not fond of it, but I see alot of potential! I know you can make it work with your magic! :)
The bathroom...foil wallpaper will reflect light better. Avoid a pattern that has yellow in it though....pale pink & apple green would make your skin look less sallow in there. A small space is a great place to buy expensive paper. Those tubs are really HOT now! people pay a lot for them. The trick is hiring men who are willing to move those extremely heavy tubs...mine did not fit thru the door & didn't want to remove original antique door casing, so just have a large shower now.
Awesome updates to your home. Can’t wait to see your home tour with Paige. Please leave the Monstera in your bedroom. It looks amazing against your brick wall.
1:25: My favorite space. Love how the windows are tall and cover these two walls, the view into the outdoor space and, of course, your plants! Where is Theo? Ha, ha. He was so quiet. Didn't see him down there😅
I've been watching your videos for long time but I couldn't understand most of your words, however now i was watching this video which is super relaxing and peaceful, I noticed thar I can understand all of your words. It made me so happy.✨ Thanks for your green videos. By the way, your dog is adorable.🤍
Great video and exciting news ^-^. I think that the monstera by the bedside looks very cool against this brick wall but some artwork on the wall is really needed. Can't wait to see some next updates
Love the big windows you have downstairs great for plants. And love your large balcony upstairs good to entertain with family and friends. I do love a big kitchen. Since spent alot of time cooking there. For me looking for a home i like big windows alot of natural light. A big sitting room, kitchen, bathroom and bedrooms. Like a guest bathroom too downstairs. At least two big bedrooms the smaller ones can be study room or a hobby room or a child’s room. If no garden definitely a big balcony space.
Adorable vid of your home. It seems more spacious now. I really like all the furniture rearrangements. Don't do too many makeovers since you are renting. You can save for your own home eventually.
Hi Benji love your videos if you don’t mind I have a suggestion for you the plant In your dining room it will look better next to the window you have a beautiful day.
I really like the monstera in the bedroom. It looks really good with the exposed brick. Re: art above the bed, have you considered some kind of tapestry? That could look really good and not be as expensive as framed art
Love the updates you’ve done with the house. Of course one can’t be completely finished with decorating as things change sometimes at a rapid pace or you decide to go a different route in your decorating style. Btw, Lone Fox here on YT is looking for help with plants for his one year old home. He just posted his courtyard update and has a bunch of pots that need plants. Reach out and maybe you can have a collab with him as you’re about to have with Paige. 🤗
Benji, I have question, just out of curiosity, do you plan on selling your passaflora props again? Maybe after you settle in more with your home? After seeing it in your apartment it really made me want to get one but so far you seem to be the only seller. Just wondering though 😊, Btw, your house and plant collection is like a dream to me! And I really am going to try to make it to the plant swap but I do live a couple hours away.
Love Love your Video Benji! ❤ Your Home is Lovely! Love your Designs! Hi Chris! Hi Theo Sweetie 🥰 ❤🐾❤🐾🤗 I'm so Excited for the Landscaping! Woo-Whoo! 😃 Take Care!! 5:00

I've been so obsessed watching all your videos Benji, your interior design and plants are so inspiring. Cant wait to see you at 1million subs.

Omg paige and you are my biggest interior inspiration can’t wait for that crossover !!❤
I could see Benji and Chris putting a projector up since the TV didn’t work out. Something about a projector is so cozy.
you put the Ikea curtain tension wire up correctly, it is just infamous for being impossible to make perfectly taut by hand, and sags under the weight of even the lightest curtain
2:58 theo sleeping on the bean bag and being absolutely perfect
I love the monstera against the brick! It’s a nice mix of industrial with nature.

BenjiPlant X Paige Wassel is going to be the greatest crossover of all time
Bedroom wall screams for a painting and wall sconces. Can't wait to see my two favorite UA-camrs collab!
i love the curtains!! they add a lot of textur, that linen blend compliments the wood so well! hanging them from the ceiling also enhances de windows height, just chefs kiss

You should do a plant tour with Summer Rayne too!!! That would be so cute!
yassssss plssssss
she doesn't seem to do many home tours anymore, shame because its her best content imo
To prolong garden furniture life using covers is a night is a good thing to do. Not only protect it from a sun, wind or rain but plant and animal damages.
I like the bookshelves the same as the wall. Paintiing them a contrasting color will make them stand out and might cause it to look busy again.
i had the same thought^^
i think putting the monstera from the bedroom into your dining room, kinda replacing the dracena marignata, would be quite nice. your dining room has a lot of straight, hard lines and is pretty symmetric. breaking that up with the rather round, organic leaves of the monster might make the room feel more "flowy". the plant could pose as a contrast to dining table, door-frame, cabinet, window etc. and would look nice next to the round lamp. also, i LOVE the combination of dark monstera green with red, your chairs pretty much carry the effect i'm thinking of. the color of the pot would also correspond to the rather dark pottery on the cabinets shelves.
The bathroom is not too bad, love the tub ! you probably just need a new vanity! It’s different it’s not like everyone else!
So excited for Benji + Paige!!! I love both of your channels 💛
that dusty blue would look darling. great choice.
Nooooo never plant bamboo
6:59 it would be so cute to have a little curtain in front of it. Like they have in those old kitchen cabinets
What about a single floating shelf behind the bed, you could put an anglepoise lamp on there, some art and pots etc. I think that would add some depth and colour to that area
I’m so excited for the Benji home tour from Paige!!
giggling and kicking my feet in the air because of the collab with paige wassel omg my worlds are colliding
That balcony space looks beautiful so far, excited to see what else you do with it!!
11:30 Yes. 'Bo-ja-gi'. It among Bojaki, this style called 'Jo-gak-bo'. korean traditional style. looks awesome!
You could paint the brick wall white to match the wall (if landlord doesn’t mind) it would make the space look bigger for the bedroom :)
I knew it! You were a perfect candidate for the PW home tour series. So glad you guys are collaborating❤🎉.
🍁🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂
Thank U Benji for sharing ur home.
Might have to be a DIY or the headboard would extend more on the right side of the bed, but i think it would look interesting and solve the bed placement issue 😊
as always i love your style and how well you explain your decision porcess ❤
You can get a cable box organiser to put all the cables inside. Looks a lot neater, we use them everywhere around the house 😊
You should definitely paint the yellow bathroom! It will look so much better with a fresh white paint or something a less warm!
Its a good day when benji posts ❤❤
You should get a beaded curtain for your closet in the upstairs bedroom maybe one that match the bean bag Theo jumps on ☺️
oh my god so excited that your nativescaping the yard! can't wait to watch that process!
Paige, benji, Caroline collab... I cannot ❤❤❤❤
OMG I started following you for plant reasons, but there’s a Paige Wassel connection!?! Now I’m fully in lol Also you should totally paint.
Benji pls show us the process of the changes you do rather than directly showing what all you did
That will be very fun to watch
11:24
It's called "Bo-ja-gi" in Korea. Looks nice in your room :-)
You really have the home of your dreams! 💚 Congratulations, you deserve it. ☺️
Thanks for that slower paced video. It’s made me think about how to,improve my own Home. With simple ideas.
Hii benji !! I love the house update videos, so realxing and cozy, i hope one day i can have a house and make it look as beautiful and cozy as yours, thx for the videos ❤. Hope everyone has an amazing week
yey for the crossover with PWAS! You'll be a fab feature!
Omg the art for the plant swap poster & the shirt is too cute 🥹
The monstera looks perfect there.
Awesome updates to your home. Can’t wait to see your home tour with Paige. Please leave the Monstera in your bedroom. It looks amazing against your brick wall.
Hi Benjamin. Good job on removing some stuff. The space looks more cohesive.
I feel like it looked more cozy and homie the other way. It is starting to feel cold
@@GDLOVER1000 Really!!!
Every where I look, I see warm tones, their personality. How can it be cold with these whimsical plants😀
benji in every other room ..imagine this place with plants 😂
I will love that collab with Paige!!
It made me so happy.✨
Thanks for your green videos. By the way, your dog is adorable.🤍
Great video and exciting news ^-^. I think that the monstera by the bedside looks very cool against this brick wall but some artwork on the wall is really needed. Can't wait to see some next updates
while I do like the Robin's egg blue, I think you should go with an even deeper navy blue color for your shelves. I think it would look so good!
Behind your bed you could put art or mirror in the middle with a sconce light on each side 😊
Blackboard paint for the upstairs wall behind the bed. Then you can draw your artwork.
with the upstairs room with the monsterra, i think it would look amazing with some warm large hanging lights in the empty corner :)
im obsessed with this space! so cozy
If no garden definitely a big balcony space.
everything looks great! such a nice space! can't wait to see how the yard ends up looking!
Adorable vid of your home. It seems more spacious now. I really like all the furniture rearrangements. Don't do too many makeovers since you are renting. You can save for your own home eventually.
That’s his channel of course he’s going to do renovations
sharing your opinion to the world about your landlords DIY skills is crazzyyy LOL
Paige and Benji at the same time?! The anticipation might do me in… I feel like we just got news that a unicorn is coming to town.
Love the living room changes! I really like the monstera in your room though!! Think it looks perfect against the brick!
That's such great news. Love Paige's vlogs too
I'm really hoping this changed Paige's mind on having more plants than normal. 👀
Definitely a feng shui thing 🤌
i love the curtains! really fits the design of your home ❤
Hi Benji love your videos if you don’t mind I have a suggestion for you the plant In your dining room it will look better next to the window you have a beautiful day.
Never been this early I really like all your warm lights they create such a nice atmosphere
I really like the monstera in the bedroom. It looks really good with the exposed brick. Re: art above the bed, have you considered some kind of tapestry? That could look really good and not be as expensive as framed art
ooooooh that is a very good idea
I love the monstera looks great where it is now!
The curtains look great!!
Love your space so much, Benji ❤
You have done a beautiful job on your home. Looks great!
Benji, I have question, just out of curiosity, do you plan on selling your passaflora props again? Maybe after you settle in more with your home? After seeing it in your apartment it really made me want to get one but so far you seem to be the only seller. Just wondering though 😊,
Btw, your house and plant collection is like a dream to me! And I really am going to try to make it to the plant swap but I do live a couple hours away.
You Made My Day Always, Benji Everytime I watch Your Vlog.
Awesome Excitement
THANKS A LOT.❤❤❤
Love Love your Video Benji! ❤

I CANT WAIT TO SEE PAIGES TOUR!! Eeek
I think the bathroom would look great painted in a statement color and with a big rug to cover most of the floor
Stick.on Giles would be an easier fix
