The reason the dinosaurs look less believeable is because of the high tech cameras and more importantly extreme color grading that were NOT used in the original jp.
The cameras have nothing to do with it. Both Jurassic Park and Jurassic World were shot on 35mm film. In this instance the camera has no effect on image quality. Now while the more modern film stock of Jurassic World is a bit cleaner than the older one, this too is not what makes the dinos less believable. It's more of the fact that the original movie blended practical effects and CGI to such a high degree (sometimes even in the same shot) as well as animating the CGI in such a fashion that imparted "weight" to the dinos (they built a special stop motion rig that output motion data for this, and hired the best stop motion animators on the market). These reasons are the biggest why the dinos just look better in the original Jurassic Park.
@Romania Ball jw more realistic?? It's doesn't even feel real , it's lacks what Jp has delivered to us, both the movies used CGI and animatronics but jp was able to delivered more realistic feeling and even the characters were more well written and delivered a sense of horror too
I would add that the kids in the first movie really sold how terrifying the carnivores are as opposed to the new kids who just laughed after jumping down a waterfall to avoid being eaten. Especially since they weren't even out of danger yet. Imagine yourself being trapped in a zoo where hungry lions are roaming free. If it weren't for them breaking park rules, Zara wouldn't have died. Many try to justify her demise as a ballsy move by the filmmakers. I say, the ballsy move would've been to make that the children's demise instead. At least it would've worked as karma to their idiocy.
god I hated the kids in Jurassic World. They did not show a single likeable trait at all, they were pure annoyance, and all they did was causing trouble for themselves and everyone else. Driving through a ripped open gate with the clear sign of "danger, do not enter", and also disobeying a direct message telling all the gyrospheres to head back.. Topping it all off with them being able to start a 20 year old jeep just by replacing its battery with a magical new one that just happened to be in close proximity..... They deserved to die.
If you wanted to put any of the blame on any of the kids it should be on the older sibling. He was the one that ignored all the signs of danger and got them separated from the assistant.
f00dify trust me I put all the blame on the older brother. However, that does not change the fact that the younger brother is still just dead weight to the plot and the movie as a whole. In fact, neither of them add anything at all to the movie. You can in fact just remove them all together, and the entire plot and experience / unfolding of events would be exactly the same. All they manage to do is say "we need more teeth", as if that is in any way a redeeming plot point. In the original Jurassic Park, Lex is important to the end plot because she knows the computer software that the park operates on (important since Nedry is now dead). Tim and Lex in general are also important for the story because first of all they are the grandkids of John Hammond, and they also represent the young target group of the Park, and it's important that kids like the experience as well as adults. None of that is the case in JW, as the park is already up and running, so what exactly do the kids do for the plot and story? Nothing. They mean so little that I can't even remember their names lol. Imagine if they got eaten by raptors, now that would be a hell of a twist to both the story and the internal relations between the main protagonists.
It'd be even better if a decision the older brother makes gets his younger brother eaten in front of him. THAT would be the best scene in the movie, and completely rewrite the tune for the rest of it.
Mr Maws - Please tell us all why you think that. I mean it. I completely agree with everything Dan said in this video, but I invite alternate opinions.
I don't completely "hate" Jurassic World, in fact I'm probably more on the side of "yeah it's OK", but I agree with 99% of your points here. A great example of how Jurassic World had so many smaller issues with the structure that it became a bit of a confused, bloated mess at times. I can only name a few big surface level things that annoy me with the film, but I could write an essay on all of the finer details that just don't work. Great video, hope to see more Jurassic Park stuff coming from you, Dan!
This was a brilliant and accurate comparison of the two movies and I love watching the dinosaurs in JW, but JP had much better atmosphere surrounding the film.
I can't believe that you don't like dialogue that builds story and doesn't go anywhere. Frankly I like the conversations in Jurassic world that don't have much change to the movie
This is top notch movie analisis! I'm amazed by how well produced this video was, please make more! I will leave a few suggestions: -The Matrix vs Matrix Revolutions -Terminator vs Terminator Genysis -Independence Day vs Resurgence -Cars vs Cars 2
This video essay is so good. It put into words so perfectly why one movie was underwhelming and one was exhilarating. I hope Dan does more of these on his new solo channel!
I like Jurassic World alot. But I cannot be blind toward the fact that Dan proves a very strong point in the comparison of these two films. I just hope Universal doesn't repeat a Jurassic Park 3!!
Jurassic Park is one of my all time favorite movies and I couldn't even finish Jurassic World. This video was very well done and articulated! Great job Dan!
I hate it when a critic tries to make a scientific argument for why a movie is good or bad. Guess what? You like a movie or you don't. Has nothing to do with following a structure or making sure certain rules for character development aren't broken. I decide in my gut whether a movie makes the cut or not. No point trying to justify why.
The _only_ really bad thing about Jurassic Park, was the T-Rex’s enclosure. It’s at ground level when it breaks through, but when the T-Rex pushes the cars back into it, suddenly there’s a 50-foot drop there.
The "cutesy family friendly" type scenes, (which were only a few) are realistic and helped keep viewers grounded to reality, to help facilitate all the terror that was to come up ahead.. As opposed to Lost World's over the top direction. I'll never get over the daughter gymnast, doing a fancy swing kick to the raptor....that was corny AF. lol.
Oh that third one, was such a chore to watch. Both parts 2 and 3, had great potential, but unfortunately, they decided to cut loose on the realism and basically went about doing what Steven Spielberg worked hard against doing, that is, making Jurassic Park a monster movie in essence.
Partially copied? That's a good one :) Dessert planet, unaware talented force user, maps/plans carried by droid, bad people wants droid, big ass weapon destroy(s) planet(s), cantina scene. It is basically a remake of the same almost bit by bit.
Zara may not have deserved her gruesome death, but she's not the only innocent character to have a terrible one. Muldoon was a great man, and he was killed viciously by a raptor. Eddie Carr was genuinely innocent, but he got torn in half by two T-rexes. Udesky was just a booking agent who wanted to help find Eric, but he was impaled, maimed, and had his neck broken.
There's a great video about how JP is shot in the 1.85:1 format and JW is shot in 2.35:1. It really does a nice job detailing how the differences in format affect how we perceive what is on screen. The ultra-wide shots don't give us that scale of these massive creatures. To get the scale, the camera has to back way out but then you're left with lots of useless things in the frame. Then you get the claustrophobic effect later in JP when the characters are being hunted so it has a touch of horror added to the suspense. That in conjunction with the storytelling points you brought up, it's obvious that JP is still the basis by which those movies are compared. The others could be called good action flicks but JP feels like a cohesive story. Great video.
@@captainbryce1 We saw with Covenant how bad Alien could have been if it was made today. The Xenomorph scares me in Alien, but was laughable in Covenant.
I think anyone studying any aspect of cinematography should watch this, this is one of the best and comprehensive reviews I have seen of any movie/movies. This was very well done!
A lot of this was wrong. The nanny/caretakers death has nothing to do with hating her or her being a villain. It's just that in reality no dinosaur would be like "oh, you're a good person, let me not eat you because you watch over these kids". Plus what was over the top about it. She gets picked up by the flying dinosaur, dropped in the water, and when the flyer tried to pick her back up, they are both eaten by the big dinosaur in the water. Now I'm the first movie, the t-Rex does NOT kill the raptors to save the humans in which he himself had been trying to eat the entire movie, but to get rid of competition for his meal. Had the humans stayed there, do you think he would have just nodded his head at them and walked away? No, he would've ate them. The tamed raptors was a little iffy, but then they show why raptors arent really tameable. They turn on the humans. At the end the raptor and t-Rex both attack the indominus. The t-Rex for territory and the raptor to revenge its fallen friends and protect its trainer. Both movies can be put in the "and then" category. And both movies were very good.
Kris Stovall movies aren't supposed to be realistic. They're supposed to be stories and the best movies have perfectly crafted stories. If movies were were all realistic they wouldn't be entertaining because because real life is boring and has no deeper meaning. If you only watch a movie to see how close it is to reality, then why watch it at all?
Kris Stovall if Jurassic Park or Jurassic World cared for realism than the raptors would be depicted as big as turkeys, which is scientifically accurate but not as as scary. This is the reason why we have raptors that are the size of a human, because a larger and scientifically inaccurate raptor serves for better storytelling. Movies are not about realism, specially sci-fi movies like these, but movies are about storytelling. The things that happen on screen need to serve a narrative function. What narrative function did Zara's death serve? And if it was about realism, her death would have been swift. Instead we get a prolonged death scene that is so over the top that it borders on camp.
Dan, it is a real pleasure to listen to what you say. I feel I learn so much every time. It's like you open my brain to a whole new level of movie-expierencing. There's knowledge in UA-cam, and you are a great bit of it. Respect, man!
Does it have to be movies? I'd love to see a screen junkies do a side by side of the film and netflix versions of Lemony Snicket's series of unfortunate events.
THANK YOU! This is what I've been trying to explain to my friends since this movie came out. JW is an ok-ish generic monster movie, whereas JP has a much better evolved story structure and a massively superior cast.
I disagree with the kids' parents getting divorced thing. In Jurassic Park I had no idea they were getting divorced, because it's one line before we even meet the kids. In Jurassic World it's done in a pretty interesting way because little Iron Man 3 kid pieces it together and further shows us that he is a genius - it serves two purposes. That's good writing. It also ties into the 2 brothers' plot line in which they learn to stick together and reconcile by the end of the movie.
Dan, you nailed it once again. Movies have forgotten about developing memorable characters. This is the mai reason Jaws is my favourite movie of all time. It has nothing to do with the shark and everything to do with the characters and their interactions, especially once at sea. Its something modern movies seem to leave behind as they constantly try to outdo themselves with bigger more over the top visuals.
I also really enjoyed JW, but put on the same scale with JP, my interest for JW is negligeable at most. JP is cult and is now a part of our cultural heritage. JW is just a movie among others.
Ummm 1/2 way through the movie? Ellie says "a breed of child doctor Grant would be intriguing". So we know they're a couple within the first 5mins of meeting them
oh wow i didn't know that scene used animatronics i think i'd rather see animatronics than cgi, they brought so much more life into the scenes they were in
Bugs Bunny The clip with the banner was CGI. In fact, the t-rex is cgi in the entire ending scene of the movie. Don't try to be a smartass when you don't know the facts.
Techniques talked about in the video were amazing...i have always understood them but when put in the right context...you get them better. Dan you the man.
You make the mistake of thinking life is fair. In real life good people often get horrible deaths and bad people sometimes don't have to face consequences. Read "The Princess Bride." There are no consequences for Prince Humperdinck's terrible actions, and a beloved character (who lived in the movie) dies a tragic death. "Life's not fair."
You make the mistake of thinking movies have anything to do with real life. If it was supposed to be realistic, the kids would be dead, the redhead would be dead, Chris Pratt would be dead. That would be realistic. And the camera wouldn't have focused on Zara's death. That would have been realistic.
Good points but I still enjoyed Jurassic World. It may not have the great qualities of Jurassic Park but Jurassic World did have some nostalgic moments like Jurassic Park. It did some good homage moments.
*If you still don't understand even the effort that went into both of these movies, remember that Jurassic World used computers and green screens while our original used ACTUAL groundbreaking effects never done before: UA-cam: JURASSIC PARK - T-Rex - Skinning an Animatronic Dinosaur Part 2 - BEHIND-THE-SCENES*
Sorry, but I found your arugmentations wrong on too many levels to ignore. 1:55 That they have a history is inferred to way earlier when she talked about him with Mr. Masrani: ua-cam.com/video/hSDBuy8Rdyc/v-deo.html This scene was about Claire being a control freak/socially awkward. Seriously: "WHO prints out a itinerary for a date?" And hte control freak part came up again and again. Divorce: I know that is hard to understand, but a divorce is a pretty disrupting experience. And since 1993 it has become a *bit* more common/less frowned to talk about. And it was very important for these Characters (the Brothers) and the reasons they acted "not genre savvy" by refusing the "return to base" call while in the Gyrosphere. 3:40 She was a Redshirt: "Their only purpose is to die horribly to show that the situation is dangerous for the real Characters". Clair as villain: As is shown in part 2, she really does care about the Dinosaurs. More then she is willing to let on (by calling them Assets). So "we never reopen" also means abandoning the Dinosaurs. She also does call for evacuation the *moment* she realises it is out of control (the ACU Team is ambushed). Also the value of one persons life being pretty was established in scene one: ua-cam.com/video/Q3znhTOUqi8/v-deo.html Hoskins as the villain: You thought the plot was resolved after the birdhouse attack? The Indominus Rex was *still at large*. And that villany had been build up since the *literal* first scene of the Movie. And then *again* with the scene where he looks at the air attack with Air Raid Sirens flaring. How did Claire knew how to lure the T-Rex? a) She did her homework. b) She had a literal expert on Park 1 in her staff. He propably dropped it sometime. You know, people in workplaces do talk. Apparently just not about proper work attire (because that never comes up). I-Rex abilities: Really, you think the abilties were made up on the spot? This thing as *designed* as a Military Animal. Everything Dr. Wu claimed as "suprising" side effect? He was propably lying. He was at least hopefull it would develop those abilities. If the movie had established those abilities, this would have turned into a game of Idiot ball: They would have had to be *insanely* stupid to go into a pen without *first* checking the tracker. And equally stupid to use Raptors to track a part-raptor hybrid. Owen was so skilled, anything less and he never would have ended up in those situations. It also shows us just how intelligent the thing is: Knowing where the tracker is and clawing it out. Hiding the ability to cammouflage and even *faking* to be white. Hiding the thermal camouflage ability until it could be used for most effect. The actors were just bystanders: Except Owen (turned the Raptors back) And Claire (released the T-Rex) And the brothers (giving the idea to release the T-Rex). Also they are only bystanders in the same way as humans in a Godzilla movie. The kind where Godzilla (T-Rex) and Mothra (Blue) defeat the villain of the movie (IndoRex). Or at least herd it to "the bigger fish".
I thought Jurassic World was a fantastic movie with some horribly animated velociraptors, and dinosaurs that were turned into cartoon characters rather than dinosaurs. They also should have shown more of the park, but overall it was still an enjoyable film. Jurassic Park however is a work of art. It's special which is why it's still revered to this day and you explained why in this video.
@Animallover Smith While it makes pseudoscience sense, it's still a retcon. The dinosaurs in JP were fairly accurate to the scientific consensus in 1993.
When the boys dad said "so much for our last family breakfast" I thought that he thought the boys were gonna get eaten by a dinosaur? It's only found out about the divorce when the boys were talking about?
Bugs Bunny because the crew and actors wouldn't have fun. They would have to actually put work in making those animatronics look real by looking at scientific configurations, also they would have bring many experts like engineers, makeup artists, and chemists. If they had that ounce of discipline then they would actually make more than a couple takes on a scene.
Bugs Bunny tragically all of them were dismantled shortly after part 3 I believe. They were not designed to be permanent and do and likely did get too old to function properly and fixing them would have been a task. (Plus the skins on them would definitely have to be replaced due to rot.)
Yep, those animatronics were dismantled. I actually own a piece of the original movies' T-rex, namely a tooth. It was extremely expensive, but totally worth it. :)
He explained the Ironny of his death, he was the dude knowing all about raptors hunting and behavior but die exactly how Grant foreshadowed it in the scene with the Kid, that´s why Robert had time to say "Clever Girl" he knew that even though he thought he had everything in control he was been hunted from the beginnin, he didn´t deserved death but his death paid off, Zara on the other hand just was there to die for been short and british
[M] ScaryClockZenomorphAI ツ I was watching JP again a week ago, i was marveld by something that i never put that much thought into and was the Big One and Muldoon stare down in the opening scene, it´s like both of them knew one day one would hunt the other, there´s too much going in the original movie.
Short answer, no. But I think the writers felt he needed to 'sacrifice' himself in that situation so that Ellie could get to the bunker. And if you couple this with Sam Jackson's death, it's a neat way of writing people out of a film who have served their usefulness! It also proves that nature, and by extension, life in general, simply isn't fair. It's a healthy dose of reality in what is essentially a fantasy film; bad things happen to good people.
His death scared the crap out of me when I saw this in the theaters! Mostly because as a young fan of the book at the time, it had never crossed my mind that a movie could stray from a book (I was young) so Muldoon getting killed came out of nowhere.
Everyone got so up in arms about Zara's death when Eddie Carr in the second movie Literally got ripped in HALF and what was he doing? oh that's right he was saving the other's lives in a admittedly very heroic and selfless sacrifice. Where's the call to arms about that hmm? It's been all dude deaths in Jurassic Movies up to that point so why not give a little to a laddies. Point of this little ramble is that Animals don't care if your Male or Female it doesn't work like that in real life i a pretty sure that's what they were going for.
I agree with you on most of the points given, how would you rate this movie against 2 and 3 though? I thought World was way better than the last two and is at least passable. To draw a more recent example I thought Alien Covenant is to Alien/Aliens what World is to Park, not the best but better than the other sequels and enjoyable.
The lost world is much better than Jurassic world Jurassic world is just bad plot wise, also it felt more like a cartoon then a movie I felt like I was watching something that was marketed for children and the dinosaurs in Jurassic park III are 10x better than both Jurassic worlds the cgi is just horrible and something I’d expect in a Pixar film not a Jurassic park movie in the first ones I felt like I was watching real life genetically engineered dinosaurs in the others I didn’t,
A few of these points I can certainly understand but as for inference versus exposition: when you have a capable comedic actor in the main light (Pratt), it makes total sense to utilize that ability, right? Also the scene on the train with Zach and Gray detailing the divorce; Zach didn't know in the slightest whilst the audience knew, I'll admit that one is just kind of there, though. I don't know about anyone else but not knowing what the I.Rex was capable of built tension on its own. Plus knowing beforehand of its abilities would ruin the ethical dilemma involving its genetics during that convo between Wu and Masrani. All the other nitpicking, yeah, I'll admit to. Jurassic Park is a difficult movie to knock from its pedestal, and JW was always going to be second best in the series.
sunsoul aevis i agree! But i gotta say i love the fact that jw has more action moments in my opinion. Also i love how in jw there is a real connection between humand and dinosaur (owen and the velociraptors). Also i adore the second jurassic world
Indy Duinmeijer the most idiotic aspect of JW was to include a bond between a human and a dinosaur. The only thing that would have made that more cliche is if Owen had turned around and named it Yoshi. Dinosaurs are fascinating because they are beautiful but also dangerous. Once you tame one, than its no different than a dog and the magic is gone.
Jurassic world was average at best.

The reason the dinosaurs look less believeable is because of the high tech cameras and more importantly extreme color grading that were NOT used in the original jp.
Jesi Achord the dinos in Jurassic world suck compared to those in the original Jurassic park.
100% correct

Daniel Kemnitz Exactly. Jurassic world was a dumb movie.
This was a great contrast between the two, I especially enjoyed your two terms "Because" and "And Then"
Nicely laid out, Dan! Good explanation of show vs. tell and great examples of narrative pay-off. Looking forward to more :-)
You just confirmed for me how awesome Jurassic Park was 💓💖💓
Loved this breakdown. Dan is a voice for sanity and reason in this crazy messed up world.
Right, because it's crazy for people to like a film you don't.
Mr Maws You didn't get what this video was all about.
Oh I don't? Do explain. Because I see a guy blatantly misrepresenting and flat out LYING about the film.
Mr Maws - Please tell us all why you think that. I mean it. I completely agree with everything Dan said in this video, but I invite alternate opinions.
+Mr Maws Yes, please, elaborate.
This was REALLY well done!
*Another!* throws down glass
Also I would like to see Matrix sbs with Matrix Reloaded or Superman sbs with Man of Steel.
Agreed! A New Hope v. The Force Awakens is prime for this series.
Independence Day vs. Resurgence?
Although WiseCracks did something similar recently, i would also love to hear your input on the Matrix compared to its sequels.
I agree...
ANOTHER!...**THROWS LAPTOP DOWN**
Yes, I vote on that too!
This was a brilliant and accurate comparison of the two movies and I love watching the dinosaurs in JW, but JP had much better atmosphere surrounding the film.
I miss non obvious foreshadowing.
I can't believe that you don't like dialogue that builds story and doesn't go anywhere. Frankly I like the conversations in Jurassic world that don't have much change to the movie
This is top notch movie analisis! I'm amazed by how well produced this video was, please make more! I will leave a few suggestions:
-The Matrix vs Matrix Revolutions
-Terminator vs Terminator Genysis
-Independence Day vs Resurgence
-Cars vs Cars 2
Cars vs Cars 2... yes.
This video essay is so good. It put into words so perfectly why one movie was underwhelming and one was exhilarating. I hope Dan does more of these on his new solo channel!
Dan is arguably the most consistently good Screen Junkie. Which is ironic because he looks he doesn't even want to be on half the shows.
Who else came back to watch this after they found out that Dan is going to be doing video essays again?
It was back at the top of my recommendations this morning even though I watched it on release because of the boost from Dan's announcement
I like Jurassic World alot. But I cannot be blind toward the fact that Dan proves a very strong point in the comparison of these two films. I just hope Universal doesn't repeat a Jurassic Park 3!!
Believe me. it will only get worse. Good movies time is over. its only for money now.
+Jacob Simonsen It was always about money. Even when movies were "good".
@@Jacob-Simonsen You were spot on with that prediction. The following two movies were actually worse.
"I'm not here to tell you you're wrong for liking Jurassic World."
Good. Because that's my job.
Dan is too nice - already planning his escape LOL
Jurassic Park is one of my all time favorite movies and I couldn't even finish Jurassic World.
This video was very well done and articulated! Great job Dan!
Jurassic Park is still my favorite move ever! I was highly disappointed in Jurassic world. I think they really dropped the ball with the story.
you guys should do a Ghostbuters (1984) and Ghostbusters (2016) side by side and also one of Skyfall and Spectre
Zara's death was way too over the top it took me completely out of the movie.
one part I hated
Twists. that was more like a horror movie death , it didn't feel right
Yes! That was just weird and wrong on multiple levels.
If it was a horror movie, it would fit.
Compared to every other death in the movie though, it was ridiculously drawn out.
It's too cruel. She doesn't deserve that
THIS. This right here. Damnit, this is so accurate.
Phenomenal analysis and commentary, Dan!!
I'll never get over the daughter gymnast, doing a fancy swing kick to the raptor....that was corny AF. lol.
That one little scene hardly ruined the movie.
Tony C. - It didn’t ruin the movie. It was spatially wrong, but it was also cinematically great.
Oh that third one, was such a chore to watch. Both parts 2 and 3, had great potential, but unfortunately, they decided to cut loose on the realism and basically went about doing what Steven Spielberg worked hard against doing, that is, making Jurassic Park a monster movie in essence.
I also never understood how al the workers on the boat in the second film were killed. Kind of a big plot hole imo.
Side by Side: Star Wars ANH v Star Wars TFA.
Mark Bozzuto Star Wars ANH Vs Star Wars TPM
Partially copied? That's a good one :) Dessert planet, unaware talented force user, maps/plans carried by droid, bad people wants droid, big ass weapon destroy(s) planet(s), cantina scene. It is basically a remake of the same almost bit by bit.
I don't know about you, but a dessert planet sounds pretty good right now.
Typo, I'm not native obviously ;)
That would mean forcing someone to see AoC and RotS again. I'm not that cruel. It's worse than waterboarding.
Jurassic Park is soo a good Story
Brilliant analysis.
Just when I needed a reason for why I subscribed to Screen Junkies News. Thanks Dan, great video; this should be a weekly segment.
Alien (or Aliens) vs Prometheus (or Covenant).
alien needs remade its very dated ...
@@jackstraw4222 Disagree. I hope they never remake it. Some films (classics) shouldn't be remade. Usually remake attempts end up being terrible.
@@captainbryce1 I don't understand people's obsessions with remaking everything. Leave the classics alone and give us something new.
Good points
The truth is that dinosaurs are animals who don't care about who is good or bad.
Dan, it is a real pleasure to listen to what you say. I feel I learn so much every time. It's like you open my brain to a whole new level of movie-expierencing. There's knowledge in UA-cam, and you are a great bit of it. Respect, man!
When you have more memories of the popcorn you ate during the movie than the movie itself
AMAZING VIDEO! You nailed it all and made simple yet perfect points like events not being “earned.” Well played, sir!
This is exactly how I felt after watching Jurassic world, the lost world was my favourite ✌️
This is an amazing comparison video. Well done.
Does it have to be movies? I'd love to see a screen junkies do a side by side of the film and netflix versions of Lemony Snicket's series of unfortunate events.
It's very simple, Jurassic Park beats Jurassic World. And this video is a piece of evidence that backs up that statement!!!
Great video. I always wondered Dan's reasons for not liking JW and now I know. I hope you do more of these.
Literally the best and most objective review about this movies in the tube!
Very well done! Thank you for making clear the reasons why the original JP is such a classic, and a stronger film than JW.
The "and then" vs "because" is absolutely genius. Spot on
I love jurassic park and Jurassic world
Winter 73 Oh No JW IS BETTER THAN JP I HATE JP
Winter 73 same
This was such a great video! The whole video I was nodding my head and agreeing with you
So in other words, Jurassic Park >>>> Jurassic World
JW Blue Jurassic Park Will Always be better then Jurassic World.
JW Blue smh your too young
Nice joke David ,but Jurassic world is a far better film, but Jurassic park is a great movie tho
Oscar Ponce Far better? No see your the one making Jokes here 👍
JW Blue ahahahahahaha
This was very insightful, Dan. Great job! I'd love to see more of these.
THANK YOU! This is what I've been trying to explain to my friends since this movie came out.
JW is an ok-ish generic monster movie, whereas JP has a much better evolved story structure and a massively superior cast.
Easily one of the best videos SJN produced. Great job!
Dan, eat a snickers
Why?
Fantastic work! This sums up all of my gripes, with a neat bow.
Sam Carpenter Jurassic World was absolute garbage! Was made to pander to all of the mindless, stupid people that went to see it
Dan, you nailed it once again.
I loved Zara and I wished she had a bigger role so her death could mean something other than “Oh no the assistant!” Moving on.....”
All the characters I liked died.
Like in the lost world when Eddie was killed, but Ian actually brought up his name again and said “he saved our lives”
This was fantastic! Please do more of these!!! This is also why Dan is the MovieFights champion.
I actually really loved Jurassic World, but if the director had made the movie following Dan's guidance, I would've loved it way way more!
So we know they're a couple within the first 5mins of meeting them
why does the cgi t-rex in the beginning look better in the older movie?
schmiddy1998 They used animatronics back then, now it's full cgi.. sadly
oh wow i didn't know that scene used animatronics i think i'd rather see animatronics than cgi, they brought so much more life into the scenes they were in
Bugs Bunny The clip with the banner was CGI. In fact, the t-rex is cgi in the entire ending scene of the movie. Don't try to be a smartass when you don't know the facts.
Uncle Ben Lol ofc but mostly they used animatronics.. And thanks for that attitude btw
Bugs Bunny I hate it when people pretend to be experts when they're not, that's why I was so pissed
Techniques talked about in the video were amazing...i have always understood them but when put in the right context...you get them better.
Dan you the man.
this was great. nice work Dan. you should do one for the new and old ghost busters
I never understood how the T-Rex got into the building and no one noticed it until it saved everyone..
Do "A New Hope" and "The Force Awakens"
Wow, there are only a few videos I take the time to like, and this is one of them, great comparison man, keep up the good work.
That would have been realistic.
your comparison and analysis was brilliant and spot-on.
Good points but I still enjoyed Jurassic World. It may not have the great qualities of Jurassic Park but Jurassic World did have some nostalgic moments like Jurassic Park. It did some good homage moments.
Too much Jp1 homage, its a ripoff
good to know there are so
many people who share this same opinion of what has happened with the sequels and still see the awe of the first movie
Masrani: ua-cam.com/video/hSDBuy8Rdyc/v-deo.html
This scene was about Claire being a control freak/socially awkward. Seriously: "WHO prints out a itinerary for a date?"
And hte control freak part came up again and again.
Also the value of one persons life being pretty was established in scene one: ua-cam.com/video/Q3znhTOUqi8/v-deo.html
Hoskins as the villain: You thought the plot was resolved after the birdhouse attack?
If the movie had established those abilities, this would have turned into a game of Idiot ball:
They would have had to be *insanely* stupid to go into a pen without *first* checking the tracker.
And equally stupid to use Raptors to track a part-raptor hybrid.
Owen was so skilled, anything less and he never would have ended up in those situations.
It also shows us just how intelligent the thing is:
Knowing where the tracker is and clawing it out.
Hiding the ability to cammouflage and even *faking* to be white.
Hiding the thermal camouflage ability until it could be used for most effect.
The actors were just bystanders:
Except Owen (turned the Raptors back)
And Claire (released the T-Rex)
And the brothers (giving the idea to release the T-Rex).
Agreed. It's not that Jurassic World is a bad film. (It's highly flawed, but enjoyable for what it is.) It's just that Jurassic Park is a masterpiece.
The reason the dinos don’t have feathers is because they put amphibian dna in them
@Animallover Smith
While it makes pseudoscience sense, it's still a retcon.
The dinosaurs in JP were fairly accurate to the scientific consensus in 1993.
This is like a free film-writing class. Fantastic!
Side by side - alien vs alien convenient
Last Jedi vs TROS - too easy but having Dan do devil's advocate for JJ will be hilarious
This was very thoughtful and educational.
I really liked JW and JP is the greatest blockbuster ever made....I had same issues with ep7
Akshit Bhatia episode 7?
Akshit Bhatia there are Only 4 movies
I totally missed this when it came out. Awesome video! I guess there won't be anymore side by side vids coming out though.
When the boys dad said "so much for our last family breakfast" I thought that he thought the boys were gonna get eaten by a dinosaur?
It's only found out about the divorce when the boys were talking about?
Wow... Awesome explanation of both videos side by side!
Why didn't they use those old dinousaur animatronics from Spielbergs movies into in the new Jurassic World?
Bugs Bunny because the crew and actors wouldn't have fun. They would have to actually put work in making those animatronics look real by looking at scientific configurations, also they would have bring many experts like engineers, makeup artists, and chemists. If they had that ounce of discipline then they would actually make more than a couple takes on a scene.
For budget reason's. Blame the studios.
Bugs Bunny the number one reason is Because none of those old Animatronics were still around
perfectly done. fewer closeups and you're gold
Did Robert Muldon deserve his death?
He explained the Ironny of his death, he was the dude knowing all about raptors hunting and behavior but die exactly how Grant foreshadowed it in the scene with the Kid, that´s why Robert had time to say "Clever Girl" he knew that even though he thought he had everything in control he was been hunted from the beginnin, he didn´t deserved death but his death paid off, Zara on the other hand just was there to die for been short and british
[M] ScaryClockZenomorphAI ツ
I was watching JP again a week ago, i was marveld by something that i never put that much thought into and was the Big One and Muldoon stare down in the opening scene, it´s like both of them knew one day one would hunt the other, there´s too much going in the original movie.
No, but that helps us to really fear the velociraptors. The T-Rex feels like a force of nature; the raptors feel evil
His death scared the crap out of me when I saw this in the theaters! Mostly because as a young fan of the book at the time, it had never crossed my mind that a movie could stray from a book (I was young) so Muldoon getting killed came out of nowhere.
This was terrific. Thanks Dan!
Excellent side by side! Spot on! You were able to articulate my exact feelings about these two films.
Both JP 2 and 3 is better than Jurassic World.
LOL agree to disagree
The Lost World is so much better than Jurassic World. Just as Alien 3 is so much better than Covenant. But hey, it's all opinion.
The lost world is much better than Jurassic world Jurassic world is just bad plot wise, also it felt more like a cartoon then a movie I felt like I was watching something that was marketed for children and the dinosaurs in Jurassic park III are 10x better than both Jurassic worlds the cgi is just horrible and something I’d expect in a Pixar film not a Jurassic park movie in the first ones I felt like I was watching real life genetically engineered dinosaurs in the others I didn’t,
I super want more of these. Excellent summary.
I love this analysis! Thank you! Jurrasic World was such a disappointment. The original JP is a timeless classic.
On point explanation. Learned a lot from this video. Few of them we could notice but few others which we missed, you put out correctly. Good job.
Also i adore the second jurassic world
Indy Duinmeijer i felt like there wasn't enough dinos.
sunsoul aevis Jurassic world is FOURTH best in the series! don't kid yourself
Indy Duinmeijer the most idiotic aspect of JW was to include a bond between a human and a dinosaur. The only thing that would have made that more cliche is if Owen had turned around and named it Yoshi. Dinosaurs are fascinating because they are beautiful but also dangerous. Once you tame one, than its no different than a dog and the magic is gone.
thank Dan, thoroughly enjoyable watch, clear and concise. Please run some more of these
