I actually bought the x-E2 this year for a pretty solid deal. I love it. I know it's old and has some quirks, but it has made carrying around a camera everyday and shooting a ton of fun.
You can get the extra stops by choosing the closest shutter speed you want via the top dials, then using the scroll wheels to get to the ones in between 😉👍🏼
@@gerardneedham That's where they messed up on the X-E4 IMHO. Removing the front command dial eliminated a great workflow. When I had my X-E2 I used the front dial for shutter speed, the rear dial for ISO, and set aperture directly from the lens. When I "upgraded" to the X-Pro2 that option was not available and I never got used to the fiddly combo dial, so I sold it. They fixed the issue (finally) on the X-Pro3 but none of the early reviews mentioned it because everyone was so locked in on that goofy flip-down LCD. Now all these "rangefinder" style cameras are discontinued and no new models have been announced or are even in the rumor mill. I love Fuji, but they sure do make it difficult.
It's possible to simulate a halation effect using a diffusion filter, and a black pro mist filter can achieve this effect as well, while also providing a softening effect in both the highlights and darks. In my opinion, the black pro mist filter is an essential addition to the X lineup.
Mmmm never tried that but keen to give it a go if they is a filter for it, but the black mist doesn’t add a colour halation only just to bloom the highlights that Replicates a vintage lens
Thank you! Sick of hearing people say that the phone is just as good… No, it is not! They’re getting better absolute, but nothing beats a real camera. LOVE my XE4!!!
A year later I come across this and have just sold my X-E4 to fund an X-S20 which appears to be the 'upgrade' from the X-E4 on video. Not a fan of the top mount EVF though.
Great great video, masterfully done. Does film really have more dynamic range than digital? In my experience it's pretty great in the highlights - but overall, the reason I switched to digital is that it seems to have much more dynamic range.
Yeah I’m starting to learn that it does and doesn’t. Like you can overexpose digital as much as you can with film, but with a good exposure I digital you can push and pull the exposure as much as you want. but if you get a good scan you can digitally manipulate the film shot. So it’s kinda like yes and no
I've gotten an x100f but I just never get around to using it, with a preference to pick up the a7iii and 35mm loxia combo. I suspect it's because I don't like the 23mm lens when taking portraits at the same range as my Sony. Ppl just look more distorted. The images from the loxia just pop more generally. However, I really like the x100f colours and the reduced weight, profile and reduced intimidation factor that it has on others when I am taking photos of them.
I have the XT20 and I want to upgrade to the X100V but it's impossible to find it. Even on second hand market its price is high. Since the X100VI is difficult to get many people hold on to their X100V. I'm thinking of getting the XT4 or XE4 instead.
They messed up on the X-E4 IMHO. No IBIS (like the X-T and X-H) was a mistake, and removing the front command dial eliminated a great workflow. When I had my X-E2 I used the front dial for shutter speed, the rear dial for ISO, and set aperture directly from the lens. When I "upgraded" to the X-Pro2 that option was not available and I never got used to the fiddly combo dial, so I sold it. I’ve a T, 2 F’s and now a V. Love them all and used the built in ND filter all the time. Here’s something I’ve discovered but heard no one mention: the 3stop ND was perfect. Shooting in bright afternoon light wide open at ISO 160, I get the red, 2000+ SS warning, but when I turn on the 4stop ND the SS drops to between 160 and 250. That’s much too slow and NOT a versatile range. Have that at only f2.8. As I said, at 3stops this would have been a SS around 360-500. Does anyone else wonder why Fuji upped the ND filter to 4stops? Every talks like this is an improvement. What am l missing?
I missed the part about why these cameras should be avoided in 2023; did I correctly hear that in the intro to the video? Could someone explain this to me, given I did not pick it up in the video? Anyhow, I opted to sell the X100F for a decent resale price on a system that is relatively old --all the hype surrounding the X100 series helped, for sure. I use mine with a Fujinon 16 mm f/2.8 for street and documentary, and it does not disappoint. I am thinking of pairing it with manual Voigtlander lenses. Autofocus is not important since I zone focus a lot these days.
awesome, love that your going back to zone focus like the old range finder film camera, like my ql17. hey so I said at the end im waiting/avioding buying any of these fuji cameras as Im keen for the ungraded xe4 or x100v
I reckon the best lens is the 27 mm f2.8 pancake lens it’s tinny you can also get the 18-50mm f2.8 sigma that’s also great, haven’t even herd about that lumix camer will have to do some research
Hey bro, it’s basically the same one as the one in the description bro, just the F has a few things missing so just miss them out. The White balance is the important one
Im not sure about the XT30, but I know that the XT4 and XE4 are the same, the EX4 has a smaller body so with the 27mm pancake it would be smaller than the x100v

Fuji owners always cope and say their cameras make them a better photographer because they paid 1800 for a camera with no features that aren’t that great but visually the body looks nice 😅
Mmmmm, I would disagree. I don’t own a Fuji camera but I get better every time I shoot on one, not relying on a raw photo and the edit is a great skill, you have to expose the image perfu
Just over 2K subs already - nice work. There’s a way of converting a lut to a Lightroom Profile using LR and Photoshop. (Google the method.) The big idea here is to apply a Fuji film simulation (i.e., camera profile) to a non-Fuji raw file, by starting with a Fuji film simulation Lut. Tried it once for a Sony raw file and got so-so results. Ever try it yourself? Might be worth a try and make a unique YT vid.

Yesss, for sure man I loved also shooting on the x100f for the same reason, it’s just fun
Same. I have a Voigtländer 27 f2 on my X-E2s and it’s a blast.
"which is best for you?" - the one in stock!!
Ahahahahah or the one available on FB market place
