For the Non Mechanic average person couple of THINGS you explained very well except in putting back together you only SHOWED the two wires on the air bag failed to mention don't forget and make sure hook the RED WIRE LAST. And after connecting the BATTERY didn't mention don't forget to replace the 2 fuses that were removed. THANKS IT IS A GREAT VIDEO

I have a 2020 F150. The fuses are different so I just disconnected the battery. Quick and easy after watching the video. Make sure the connections are secure.

Just completed this job, and I wanted to add a note for anyone else that's going to try it. I began using an allen key that I thought was long enough, it fit in the little holes on the side with room to spare, but I could not get the airbag to budge no matter what I tried. After watching another video, I went back to the toolbox and used a smaller allen key, it wasn't as long, but upon putting it in all the way, there was a definite pop as the spring holding it in releases. The hole goes through the airbag assembly and gets smaller on that end of the hole, so, uh, size matters, I guess.

Same issue. spent an hour trying to figure out how it releases. Ended up scratching the airbag side

Someone should defiantly go in depth with the airbag removal

Make sure to secure the clock spring when you pull off the wheel otherwise you'll have errors. Also the squib wires go through the same rectangle hole that the multi pin plug connects into the clock spring.

I could be wrong, but it seems like the relevant fuses 35 and 22 are in the passenger compartment fuse panel, not the power distribution box.

if you are talking about a new wheel not working i would immediately investigate the 'clock spring' its the mechanisim that allows the cables to spin with the wheel if there is damage to that signals from the steering wheel could not be reaching the truck. If its a old wheel i would investigate the wheel itself, remove the button cluster from the wheel and clean the switches with some contact cleaner and re-assemble, something spilled on the wheel could have made its way inside and preventing proper switch contact.

Great video. Did you have to reprogram the Sync after you disconnected the battery for so long? I just set up my Sync 3 with ForScan and I don't want to mess it up now.
