- Winged Victory of Samothrace, know also as Nike of Samothrace.
After Mona Lisa is probably the second most popular masterpiece we can admire at the Louvre Museum and in this video you will understand why it is so significative.
... by the way, do you know also what does “Nike” mean?

As a 16 year old in 1987, I found this much more admirable than Mona Lisa. Coming upon her as I climbed the steps was far more awe inspiring than viewing Mona Lisa from the back of a crowd.

No Sir… Our Masterpiece was Saved, Protected, brought to a less Seismic Region to be Preserved, Venerated and, above all else… WORSHIPPED BY THE REST OF HISTORY !
Your work is very well appreciated. It helps bring more understanding to great works of art.
Thank you.
I am really happy to hear that :-) Thank you and please share the videos
The missing head and arms makes this perfect imo

I learned of this statue in my first year of college. I was lucky to go to The Louvre and to say it's beautiful would be an understatement. How can someone make a hunk of marble to look like silk flowing in the wind with a human body underneath. I still ask myself, how the hell did he do that? And, how long did it take to make? Not a statue kinda guy but this gives me chills.
Thank you for sharing and you are perfectly right: it is an astonishing masterpiece and it is really hard to guess how long it took to complete it.
We can just admire it and getting inspired by this great work of art
Grazie Alessadro
Grazie a te!
Good job sir
Thank you!
Merci beaucoup
Thank you for watching!
Im just surprised with all the master's sculptures that this one is the most appreciated, particularly among novice art admirers. I say that because so much of it is missing.
Thank you for sharing
I saw it in person first before I ever heard about it :/
I hope it was a good surprise
@@ExploringArtwithAlessandro yes its amazing but personally I preferred the Venus de Milo statue that's just a couple meters away in the Louvre, both very different and interesting in their own right
Will it be returned to the greeks
I don't think it will happen
Who the hell has problems with AD vs BC? 4 year olds?
Thanks for sharing
Its an amazing piece but much of it is reproduced
Hi Dave, some parts are, but most of the statue is original (of course the fragments have been put together)
🫶🏻 Alessandro, it was a wonderful video. Truly thank you.
I am glad you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching
