Nike of Samothrace: one of the most admired statues in the world

Winged Victory of Samothrace, know also as Nike of Samothrace.
After Mona Lisa is probably the second most popular masterpiece we can admire at the Louvre Museum and in this video you will understand why it is so significative.

As a 16 year old in 1987, I found this much more admirable than Mona Lisa. Coming upon her as I climbed the steps was far more awe inspiring than viewing Mona Lisa from the back of a crowd.

I learned of this statue in my first year of college. I was lucky to go to The Louvre and to say it's beautiful would be an understatement. How can someone make a hunk of marble to look like silk flowing in the wind with a human body underneath. I still ask myself, how the hell did he do that? And, how long did it take to make? Not a statue kinda guy but this gives me chills.
