NIGHT OF THE COMET 40th Anniversary Panel - Retro Con 2024

Night of the Comet actors Catherine Mary Stewart and Kelli Maroney gave a panel at Retro Con 2024 to talk about this classic movie on its 40th anniversary, their careers, and to answer fan questions.
Catherine Mary Stewart portrayed Regina Belmont in Night of the Comet and is also known for The Last Starfighter, Weekend at Bernie’s, The Apple, New Amsterdam, Knight Rider, Limitless (TV Series), The Outer Limits, Hearts Are Wild and many more.
Kelli Maroney played Samantha Belmont in Night of the Comet but also appeared in Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Ryan’s Hope, True Blood, Hell’s Kitty, Chicago Hope, Chopping Mall, Night Caller, Murder She Wrote, and more.

Night Of The Comet should've had a crossover with Stephen King's Maximum Overdrive. They both had a similar science-fiction premise about a comet causing an apocalype on Earth. I guess you could add Lifeforce, but Halley's Comet wasn't the cause of the destruction of London, England, U.K. That damage was caused by the space vampires. But still, in the 1980s, a lot of sci-fi movies were using the plot of a cataclysm caused by a comet. It would've been cool to see a mix of the films.
Also, now that I think about it, the S.C.P.-001 story of "When Day Breaks" (which has the sun for some strange reason causing anyone who is exposed to direct sunlight to suddenly become demonic entities that resemble melted monsters) sounds like the writers of that dark, adult fantasy story were very inspired by the movie Night Of The Comet. Even though the film was actually an homage to 1950s sci-fi/horror movies like Roger Corman's Not Of This Earth, just like the movie Night Of The Creeps was.

This was one of the best high school weekend USA Up All Night B-type movies of all time. In fact, it was the textbook B-type movie as it was so unexpectedly entertaining and so F...nig funny! Defiantly one of the movies I watch just because it's on, like Back to The Future or Forest Gump for the ten billionth time.
