I’m glad you liked Chogatake so much. It’s my favourite mountain. I’ve been there more than 10 times but never seen an Okojo. You’re blessed 😊 Next time you should complete Panorama Ginza, the trail on the ridge starting at Chogatake and ends at Tsubakurodake. Hiked it last summer and it was amazing🥰 - from a fellow backpacker in Japan
Oh my goodness, yes to that route! I was thinking about it for this trip, but I wanted to come back out Kamikochi for ease of transport to Matsumoto for a zero before I headed on with the rest of the trip 😄 at least it’s something to look forward to, for sure. Maybe I’ll see you out there sometime! Happy trails ✌️
Awesome video. you might know why this is called Butterfly Peak, local people start cultivating , growing rice, veggies when they could confirm on the part of summit looks like a white butterfly with snow pattern Many mountains are named after like this, Hakuba, originally Shirouma, means digging horse, Gi-ga-take means grandpa is seeding, Koma-ga-take is named after horse, Shimada-musume means bride with wedding dress, etc Farmers looked mountains as seeing a calendar In early summer please enjoy these snow patterns from the villages.
What a stunning view! We’re making a video about hiking in Japan vs. the USA and would love for you to be a part of it. What’s the best way to contact you? 😊
I’m not afraid on these popular trails. If I’m alone on trail for awhile, I sing and make noise. Bear encounters are very, very rare 🤎 I am more afraid of “grizzly” (brown) bears than black, though ☺️
Hello, I'm also a solo camper. First of all, I'm Japanese. Wasn't the road surface too many hurdles? If I hadn't taken a picture, wouldn't it have been hard to be alone? If you have time, thank you very much
Hello! Most of the trail from Kamikochi is smooth. However, the trail up to Chogatake does have a lot of uneven surfaces, rocks, ladders with broken steps, etc. -- but the trail is not too technical, so even though some steps were steep up or down, it was nice and enjoyable. Sometimes I go slow, sometimes fast, it’s that kind of trail ☺️ There were so many people out on the trails around Kamikochi and Tokusawaen, but it’s true that there were not many people on the trails I took up to Chogatake. There are enough people that I didn’t feel completely alone. But I could still feel the peace and quiet at times. I really enjoy solo backpacking to have that quiet time for my mind. I hope that helps answer your questions! ✌️
@@tinwenwalks Thank you very much for your answer. I live in the strata on the Sea of Japan side and not wealthy , not an experienced person in the mountains and so I was very happy to know in detail the surface of Mt. Fuji and the mountain range where those volcanoes gather. You are a human resource to protect and enjoy nature. I'm afraid of bears and I have to go camping by car. So I pray for your safe natural trip .Thank you for your continued support.
