Yes and no ... we are located about where the glaciers stopped, so there are rock deposits, but not everywhere.... that stinks - to early for winter! ...its been super nice here - almost 70 ...sounds like we have about 2 weeks of weather left before it goes to pieces - so we're pushing hard to wrap things up before then ....have a great day!
Hey been watching your videos for a while now. From Atlantic Iowa area. Use to have a farm on J 20 down by villisca. Our operation has a dk trencher 628 on 370 steiger cvx was wondering what your thoughts were on dk trenchers?
Hi ... well first let me say thank you for watching the channel ... and second - 'hello neighbor' ...lol ...your right in the backyard! ... we have ground near J20 and 71 too! Lol..... we're just down here north of clarinda ..... I used to have a DK 628 trencher ... I could make a whole video on it - lol ....I met denny kirian when he first started making trenchers - I had one of his first 612s ... I actually had some pretty good influence on that 628 machine design .... at the time of ownership, 8360R JD was about as big as it was for ivt ..and it wasn't big enough to handle the weight - so we used a dolly system .. I should have some videos of that trencher and dolly if you look back through my old videos ... ironically denny complained about my dolly modifications, but then took the pictures and used them on his website..... as I took off in the commercial tiling industry - I quickly realized a hydramaxx wheel trnecher was far superior in every way .... the Dk would have been better if the stinger was longer .... I would say you definitely have rhe right tractor on it - thats enough power and ballast to handle it properly.....
That's a good question I should do a video on ... wheels dig wider - so you can do connections from old tile in trench .... our soils are clay based, so we absolutely have to hook up old lines - it won't permeate down to the new line- so plows are out ...chain trenchers do work - but they are higher wear and you can not do in trench connections bc generally speaking they don't dig wide enough...
Must not have many rocks in your area.
We got our first snow over Thanksgiving weekend hope you get your projects done before the weather turns.

Neat, very informative
Thanks!
Why run a wheel trencher over chain or tile plow?
I haven't seen a wheel trencher since the 80s. All tile plow since then.
