Georgia Satellites - Town & Country Club, London - 19/07/88 (As broadcast by the BBC)

I used to really enjoy listening and indeed recording the BBC Radio 1 In Concert series on a Saturday evening during the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s. I also caught a few BBC Radio Friday Rock Show and Capital Radio sessions. I still have the cassette tapes and as the BBC has no immediate plan to make these available to the public I have decided to release close to 250 of these historical recordings on my UA-cam channel.

A bunch of us from work went along to this one, great gig and really well recorded by the BBC, if I remember rightly after this we drove down to Stringfellows to see a late show by The Del Lords and the Georgia satellites turned up for a late drink and a jam with them, we were spoiled back in the day :o) Happy times

Hi, the Del Lords gig was at the Hippodrome near Leicester Square…..I was on that Satellites tour and if I remember rightly (!) Dan got up and played a couple of tunes with them. Great times.

​@@reg5712n 1983 The Hippodrome was opened as a nightclub by Peter Stringfellow and after a change of ownership, finally closed in 2005

Me too, I still have the t-shirt :) Remember a cracking evening, and shaking hands with all of them at the end. I'd just turned 16 the week before and it was the best thing I'd ever seen, great days :D

Del Lords, another great band were doing a late show at was then the Hippodrome and the Satellites did indeed join them on stage after their brilliant T&C show. An incredible nights entertainment 🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸
