The second sketchbook, I think she was ten. I would barely draw a stick figure when I was ten. My self esteem has fallen to a dangerously sad level. 😭😭
Better than you can do does not mean that they have to be happy with it. Maybe put some effort, patience and practice into your art and you can improve.

My drawings are so much better than her old ones~" but then it got to 2012 and 2013 sketchbooks and I was like "Daaaaang...she's good. 0-0" Anyway, your sketchbooks gave me a bit of confidence and hope that my drawings will get better too, just like how awesome your artworks became!!
I wish I had kept my old artwork (which consisted mostly of card captor sakura lol) I just drew everything on sheets of printer paper, not actually a sketchbook and now they're lost and gone forever :(

I just wanted to tell you what an amazing artist you are! I have known about you since you started making videos of leaves of the seasons, and i was really hardcore fan, you were the one who inspired me to draw and made like me art. But lately i've lost my passion, i started hating my drawings, believing that i will never get better and i ran out of ideas, that i'm not creative enough to draw anymore. And seeing this brought back lots of memories and i actually want to pick up my pencil and draw again. Seeing your drawings over the years, and how much you've evolved made me rethink my choices. Thank you so much for changing me as a person not once, but twice. All the love xx
“I haven’t worked on that since like 1874..” At least you have a lot of drawings of abandoned projects.... I haven’t touched my long neglected ideas since the 15th century and there are only 1 or 2 drawings that have been transfered onto my paper... ^~^;
I really love these! I wish I had kept a sketchbook all the way from back then. I only have a few loose papers here and there, shoved away in boxes and closets. But it's a novelty to have a lot of one's sketches in one place to revisit and see progression. You've seemed to have a niche for drawing ever since a young age - some of your 7th grade drawings were better than my classmate's pieces in my college-level studio art class, LOL. But I'm sensing a slight embarrassment or self-consciousness about you not being able to finish your sketchbooks. Or that your artwork in some of it was "half-assed". Just remember!: A sketchbook is a place for mistakes, it's a forgiving thing and it's definitely not somewhere to have 100% accuracy with drawings. Sketchy / unfinished drawings can be just as great as finished ones sometimes. ^_^ You shouldn't feel pressured to study certain things more than others, or having to finish your sketchbooks all the way through, I say do what your heart desires!
watching videos like this allows me to take tips just from looking at the pictures as well as FINNISH my goddamn sketchbooks i too have a struggle with not only completing a sketchbook but also thinking up of what to draw because i start stuff like stories and character designs and almost NEVER see them through mainly because i dont have the stuff to complete them. i either forget about them or i give but and remember them MUCH later.
Im very curious at what kind of media you used on the sketchbook in 8:57 , I mean it looks like color pencils but mine never get to look like that smooth, they always looks quite weird. Do you know what the cause may be?

I haven't drawn that long, 2009 to be exact-- I wasn't serious about drawing so I never had an actual sketchbook until 3 years later (since then). You aren't the only one who deals with forever unfinished doodles. XD I still have add a little more life into my books, but for no it's all for fun.

Since you were part of my inspirational growth as an artist, it makes me sad to look back and see those videos are gone. I feel you when you say you make think of them as embarrassing, but they were pretty good for your age, and amazing in my eyes. and it definitely doesn't affect how you are as an artist today. I used to not finish sketchbooks until one day I had only one sketchbook left to draw in because I didn't have enough to buy another and I couldn't go to get one for a month. This is how I got used to finishing my sketchbooks

Uhhh I just choose around 3-4 colors and I force myself to stick with those colors. I don't think the colors you choose really matter, it's really just how you choose to use them. Idk, close your eyes and randomly pick out 3 colored pencils from a box and stick with just thsoe colors~

I only know how to look at something and copy the gist of it. I wish I could just pull a character from my head and draw it so that people could tell it's still the same character. Everytime I make a character they look like a completely different character.

I specifically use utrecht colored pencils b/c they are quite waxy and leave a smooth finish!

People finish sketchbooks? O.o I'm awful and buy new ones almost constantly, I decide to but spare ones when I'm halfway through
Or I just do random scribbles on pages and say I'm done with art for the day...
