I went to school for illustration, but now I feel I should have gone for character design. On top of that, I was horrible about keeping my old work and sketchbooks... as in, I kept absolutely nothing.

Brave of you to show this, lol ! I am glad you persevered & were able to go to Art School.
Also, we ALL copy & "try on" different styles, etc. ! It is normal & expected. You try on many different faces before you realize which is 'true' for you.
I'm only halfway through but had to stop & comment.

I loved this video! I find it funny that you left yourself insulting comments about your art, I'm 24 and I've only just stopped myself doing that... I think I did it as a self defense because I wanted people to only see the good bits if they ever got their hands on my sketchbook so I called myself out for being "a bad artist". It has been the most unhealthy thing I've done in my whole art journey because it's been the main thing to stop me from loosely sketching and getting practice in again
