The movie Dragon Ball: Battle of Gods is canon and is the first canon movie taking place a few years after Buu was defeated. It’s awesome and I reccomend you start there. The only canon movies are The History of Trunks, Battle of Gods, Ressurection F (honestly you can kind of skip this but its up to you), Dragon Ball Super: Broly, and Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero.
Just a few things to add, 1. To be more precise, BoG takes place 4 years after Kid Buu’ defeat History of Trunks isn’t canon either, the events pan out differently from the manga and isn’t apart of the modern era movies which are canon
If you want to watch the movies, watch Dragon Ball movies (1-6), Z(1-13), history of trunks special, and bardock father of Goku. Movies 13-14 are set after Buu saga, so you can watch without being spoiled. I would avoid the rest until you finished the Super anime. I recommend (if you havent seen it yet) you watch the super saiyan and super saiyan 2 transformation in the anime. I believe those scenes elevate the manga material and are far better in the anime.
I am always hyped for a new video. Great job man! You’re my favourite manga youtuber and made me want to start my manga collection! Keep up the great work.
Love that you enjoyed the series, looking forward to you covering the rest, to answer a few of your questions tho without spoiling Watch the movies before moving on to anything else, the DB movies are whatever but def watch all the Z ones Daima is currently airing and has no manga, it takes place before super and has mild spoilers but nothing too serious imo so up to you when you want to tackle that. The super manga and anime cover the same arcs but are VASTLY different in how they do them, the manga actually condenses and outright skips some arcs while the anime usually stretches them out more, personally i reccomend you consume both as some ideas from the manga get used in the anime and vice versa Dont watch the super movies until after the arc where the anime ends (the manga continued to go on after the animes last arc)
Totally agree on your rankings it’s the same as mine lmao. But it seemed weird that you thought they didn’t need to add the buu saga. I thought it it was a great introduction to Gohan grown up, and also the development of Goku and especially vegetas character. Don’t forget in the end of the cell arc, vegeta was left in shock after Goku died, he never got the opportunity to test himself against him. So the buu arc gave him so much development as a character. Also it gave Goku the opprountiny to realize that the new gen need more time to be left by themselves. This arc showed that, as Goku believed gotenks codulve beat buu and he could’ve, but they are kids, and with that comes childish. Gohans lack of training during the 7 years was what caused him to be overcome with confidence as he didn’t get to train mentally to overcome those obstacles. I still think it’s at the bottom of my list personally but it’s still a great arc. It’s hard to compare it to the other ones
During the Frieza Saga you really saw how powerful they really are, their battles broke the entire planet, something they never showed again making the other fights feel less tense. Story wise it shined from the Android to Cell Saga, which is also my favorite part of DBZ, especially SSJ2 Gohan.
The canon chronology of Dragon Ball is as follows: Original Dragon Ball -> DBZ -> History of Trunks (movie) -> DBZ Battle of Gods (movie)-> DBZ Resurrection F (movie)-> Dragon Ball Super aka DBS (from the Universe 6 arc [where the manga starts] to the end of the Tournament of Power arc) -> DBS Broly (movie) -> DBS manga (from after Tournament of Power to end of the Granolah arc) -> DBS Super Hero (movie). Now I realize that list looks intimidating, but the take away is that History of Trunks, Battle of Gods, and Resurrection F, are things that are canon and you can watch right now. Now technically DBS Broly and DBS Super Hero take place after some of the arcs in the DBS manga. But those movies have very limited references to the larger storyline and are pretty self contained in their own right. Besides I have many friends who never read the DBS manga and just watched the new movies and it was totally fine for them. I’ll even go a step further and wager that the large majority of the Dragon Ball fans have not experienced the parts of the manga that have not yet been animated, yet most of them enjoyed DBS Super Hero despite taking place after that stuff.
Most of the movies are not canon so you wont be spoiled anything for super, and also before you read super watch the movies battle of gods and resurrection f because they are major to the story of super and are for some reason not told that much in the manga, then after the 2nd tornament arc ( saving name for spoilers) then watch dragon ball super broly and you can continue reading till the end, unfortunately the rest is on hiatus so its not complete yet
one thing is that SPZ follows mostly the anime (like most other games) but DBS has a pretty different manga so you would need both to understand a bunch of stuff and of course there are almost 20 movies(I think) Wich aren't even mentioned in the manga but are in games
they needed to fuse could buuhan was the strongest version of buu and they couldn't beat him on his own and they needed to free their friends or else gohan and the other people would've been killed inside of buu
without getting spoiled on DBS, you can watch battle of gods and then resurrection F, which cover the first 2 arcs of DBS very concisely. DBS Superhero takes place after super, so I would read super before watching that movie.
watch Battle Of Gods, Resuurection of F, then read the manga up to the end of the Tournament of Power, then watch Super Broly, then finish the super manga, then watch Super Hero. All in that order
If you’re gonna wait a bit to read Super, I’d recommend watching History of Trunks, DBZ: Battle of Gods and DBZ: Resurrection F. First few chapters of the Super manga retells Battle of Gods, but after that it’s new stuff. And then at some point in the manga Dragon Ball Super: Broly is referenced in a panel, watch the movie then. After that you can read all of super up until the more recent chapters, watch Dragon Ball Super: Superhero (which is also retold in the last few chapters of the manga with some minor changes).
For the movies and Super, Battle of Gods and Resurrection "F" are canon movies before you read the Super manga. Speaking of Super, the anime and manga are different since both are made with Toriyama's notes and it's up to the writers to handle said notes. In short, the common elements to both are what counts as canon. The Super manga too has some stuff that directly ties-in to the movies, might as well watch the anime first then read the manga later for comparison purposes.
8:46 No. They're not canon. Except the Dragon Ball Super: Broly movie and Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero which are canon and do spoil Dragon Ball Super. And also, the Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods and Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F' also spoil Dragon Ball Super.
YOU CAN WATCH THE 2 DBZ MOVIES. Battle or Gods and Resurrection F are the first 2 arcs in Super. In the animes they retell and reanimate them but in the manga they kinda skip over it. Also the anime and the mange for super are very different at some aspects, some good some bad. I’d say read the manga all the way up till the Tournament of Power, anime for that arc is peak. Then read the final 3 arcs as they haven’t been animated yet.
A little tip for the movies, except battle of gods, ressurection f, Dragonball SUPER Broly and superhero, pretty much every movie is before super, so as long as the movie released like pre 2010 you should be good
the movie your talking about is dragon ball super broly, its definitely a must watch, but watch the other movies first, the old movies may be non cannon but are great flicks
Just as a heads up all the dragon ball z movies are all non canon except for dragon ball z: battle of God's, dragon ball z: Resurrection F, dragon ball super: borly, and dragon ball super: super hero (yes that's the title of this movie)
I do recommend starting off watching the battle of the gods movie then resurrection first since those movies are direct continuations to DBZ and the dragon ball super anime and manga kinda just redo the movies as their first two arc. Feel free to watch all the old DBZ movies since all of them are non cannon and not all of them are that good apparently (idk i haven't watched all of them) After the first two movies i mentioned i do recommend going through super before watching the rest of the modern movies(browly and superhero). TLDR follow the release order of things.
There is only two movies you can’t watch till you read super and that’s the dragon ball super broly movie and the dragon ball super super hero movie but the rest of the movies are fine

You need to watch dbz movies (aren’t canon) And battle of gods and resurrection f (in that order and they are canon and take place before the super manga)

Manga Battle of Gods is just a short recap and Resurrection F is completely skipped, he should watch those 2 movies before reading Super
No way he really said gohan is a beast bro, is spoiling it for himself
If you want to watch the movies, watch Dragon Ball movies (1-6), Z(1-13), history of trunks special, and bardock father of Goku. Movies 13-14 are set after Buu saga, so you can watch without being spoiled. I would avoid the rest until you finished the Super anime.

Another good video, keep up the good work. Quite liked the background colour it looked good.
I am always hyped for a new video. Great job man! You’re my favourite manga youtuber and made me want to start my manga collection! Keep up the great work.
Love that you enjoyed the series, looking forward to you covering the rest, to answer a few of your questions tho without spoiling
Watch the movies before moving on to anything else, the DB movies are whatever but def watch all the Z ones
Daima is currently airing and has no manga, it takes place before super and has mild spoilers but nothing too serious imo so up to you when you want to tackle that.

3:12 literally the end of the Broly movie💀💀💀
During the Frieza Saga you really saw how powerful they really are, their battles broke the entire planet, something they never showed again making the other fights feel less tense. Story wise it shined from the Android to Cell Saga, which is also my favorite part of DBZ, especially SSJ2 Gohan.
8:59 that movies star is Gohan. Also you need to finish db super to watch that

Also Jaco the galactic partrolman.
@@monizoktavia also technically "Yo! Son Goku and His Friends Return!!" is also cannon

I would recommend reading dbs in February or may since vol 22 is out in jan 16th and vol 23 is like 22nd of April
Tien vs cell was so cool lol😢 I feel bad they left him out
They used the Potara fusion to free the others from Buu

Namek
For Fusion that was clearly just Toriyama throwing all sorts of stuff into the story and constantly changing the story as it was going.
