Lakitu is so much more helpful in the new Mario Kart, back in my day you would've been placed right before the cannon. This is a definite "averted disaster" moment for sure.

I haven't played Double Dash in 10 years, so I've forgotten a few things. One thing I do remember from MK64 though was that the blue shell was just another shell (did as much damage as the red and green shells). I think Mario Kart 64 also had a lives system, you had five lives and if you finished below 4th place you lost a life.
Not looking at the minimap if theres a blue shell before going into a canon is 100% a skill issue and even then you can hear it too, thankfully shock was there too prevent you from getting punished

It definitely came in clutch that you shocked dodge. I think that you mustve been having fun, so thats really all that matters imo. Now we know blue shell's are faster than we thought lol 😭

if your being chased by a blue shell and a red shell, just let the red shell hit you first, the animation is shorter.
in this case,the blue shell was too far unless this combo is JACKED in invincibility
Yeah the blue shell hit around 4.1 seconds after the red shell. So you need like really or even max invincibility aka 19,20

Nothing beats the satisfaction when you fall off the track but you end up dodging a shock. (Or other items, but mainly a shock for me.)

back in the day a blue shell wouldn’t even hit you during the cannon lol, you were completely invincible in it.

If this were Double Dash or Wii you would've been safe. The cannon used to give you invincibility before they made it a glider section IIRC.
