Same! I am going to read all the witchy books that i could not finish during October. We won't get real snow for another two weeks, so still pretty autumnal weather 😊
Yes! I think fall gets too tied in with spooky season, but that’s only a piece of it! Which I love of course, and look forward to every year, but fall encompasses more than just spooky season. The colors are still changing, the weather is perfect for taking walks with a coffee in hand, reading cozy books, and also football. 😆
I did a bit of book shopping over the weekend as well. I picked up some volumes of my favorite manga series and "The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo" by Taylor Jenkins Reid. I cannot wait to start reading all of them!
In Brazil, it is Spring time but it is raining so muuuuuch all October and the beginning of November that I’m thing that we are in summer but it also cold so it is winter. Crazy weather to read according to the season but I will make my own season! 🫡
I wish there was a Halfprice in New England :( I live in CT and there isn't one here, pretty much the only place to go in-person for books is Barnes or small shops in cities but those are usually very small with limited selections and all are full price. I hope they bring it to the northeast at some point!
"Rewitched" mentions fall and takes place in October, but you can definitely read it any time of year because it doesn't lean into those fall vibes that much. I will say go in with pretty normal expectations. I thought it was cute, but it didn't do anything new and it actually has higher stakes towards the end than the synopsis indicates. In October I picked up "The Thirteenth Child" by Erin A. Craig (just finished, and LOVED it), as well as "Killer Instinct" by Jennifer Lynn Barnes, a gorgeous paperback copy of "Macbeth," and "House of Salt and Sorrows" by Erin A. Craig (my Tokyo bookstore always had the second one but not the first, so when I saw it I snatched it up).
I recently bought The Rose of Versailles 1 omnibus edition and i am SO exciteddd and also the Tolkien Treasury book box which includes the adventures of tom bombadil, farmer giles, roverandom and smith of wotton major
You should definitely read Rewitched soon, it's super cosy, witchy vibes. It's set in October I think so I feel like it's fun to read at this time of year! xx
My goal for the new year is to read what I want regardless of the season! I don’t want to give myself unnecessary rules. I feel like there’s a pressure to read books in season. Definitely let yourself read Rewitched! Fall doesn’t end when Halloween does ❤️
The Cautious Travellers Guide is a fantastic book! I found it randomly at a bookstore and picked it up, just like you, for the cover. It did not disappoint!
Katie thank you for the video and your. I usually just buy my books from Target and Amazon since therecis no Barnes and Noble near me. It’s 3 hours away when I travel I try to stop have a blessed day and enjoy your books
Ooh, some of those books are gorgeous! I recently purchased the paperback copy of The Cautious Traveller’s Guide to the Wastelands. Up to the end of chapter 5 and really enjoying it so far. I might have to consider the hardcover version though - the dust jacket is gorgeous, I just wasn’t willing to pay what the hardcover costs in Australia until I knew if I liked the book! Enjoy reading that haul. I have noted down a few titles to check out - the JRR Tolkein book, and The Scholar and the Last Fairy Door sound really interesting.
I read Rewitched on Halloween day! I loved it! The book starts on Sept 30 and ends on Halloween, but I think you could read it off-season too. To me, it gave off similar vibes as a 90s Nora Ephron movie
Hi, do you think we can read Yuma and the Nightmare Painter as a stand-alone book or do we need to read the first two books in the series first? Thanks.
one of my friends has a mom who works for penguin random house, so he can acquire free books for me! I got the new illustrated Assassins apprentice and Buried Deep by Naomi Novik :)
'Tis true that these are the sad times. As a resident of southern Ontario, I deal with weather that is very bipolar and in fact today is a perfect example, it's 21 Celsius outside and the sun's out whereas yesterday it was -2 with heavy rain. It messes with many people's moods, including mine. The mind often goes to strange places. With these multiple editions I have a few burning questions. Question 1: how rich are you? Question 2: what's your main source of money? Question 3: does one have to commit any crimes to obtain said source of money? Clover is indeed a cute name. I've been writing a sci-fi horror musical where the main character's name is Blueberry. I dunno though ... might be too hardcore for community theatre. (Working for 10 years with the same theatre group has also decelerated my creative endeavors, so I feel you on the burnout.) Sorry to hear about your November 1st experience, getting attacked at Barnes & Noble with a blunt Mariah Carey. But at least you got unique Tolkien out of it, so I am happy for you. UK hardcovers have always been primordial beasts. People alive at the same time as Charles Dickens didn't know how lucky they were to only be paying 15 shillings for Oliver Twist. Happy November, Katie.
my book giveway at applebees( 3701 Veterans Memorial Blvd, Metairie, LA 70002) has given away 2700 books in 10 months for babies, kids, teens and adults. I am the host there. I have a playlist on my channel of my giveway . Let's get this generation reading. I thrift books for my giveway
katie, it is technically still fall, so don't be afraid to finish your autumn bucketlist in november! ❤
I second this! Where I live the weather doesn't become actual Winter weather until like mid January
