As a Thai, I appreciate your videos, as others tend to focus on fancy places and they are quite the same. But your videos bring us to the real Bangkok. I have not even had a chance to walk on these small alleys like you! Keep up the good work!
Thank you! We love exploring the local side and especially the streets. We are happy you are enjoying our videos of your beautiful country! Watch for plenty more videos from us 😊
Hola Chris. Quite the walk about. 🥵 These backstreet walks are a great way to see how the ordinary Thai people who have lived in Bangkok for generations live and it’s their way of life. With all of the newer development it looks like it’s pushing them to the very outer edges. Survival of the fittest. You’re right where people want more and more things in their lives that commercialization of society tends to lead so many. I hope you can offer a distraction to these subscribers who have been under a cinstant bombardment of politics and negative news for the past 3 years, and for decades actually. I chose to leave that aspect of the world behind as much as I can avoid it here in CR, so do many others who picked up their lives and moved away from it. There were some thank you comments on a couple of France chateau renecation UA-cam channels I follow, from just that, people needing a positive distraction, even if it’s for 30 minutes. Pura Vida! 🤙
Yes it was a big walk and then Shayna and I went for another hour long walk that evening! It's nice having so many places to walk and explore. We'll be heading back next week to film a food video. When we were in Samara, we would watch so much UA-cam especially in rainy season just to get through. We know how important it is for people to have an escape even for a little bit to decompress. Thanks for watching Don, and for commenting. I hope you're keeping on top of the quality control at your office Whale Tail 😂
@ Ha! 😄 Well my Office has been closed since May. 🚫 Had a serious disagreement with the guy who took the lease out on the bar & restaurant from the owners. I’ll leave it at that. It’s freed me up to explore other locations and spend more time just relaxing in my old age. The younger voters 20-30-40 year olds, the largest demographic, are the ones the political parties are chasing with whatever message brings them onboard. It’s unfortunate that people invest some much emotion into this world of politics, more so than their own lives. It causes division amongst family, and friends, and that shouldn’t be what it’s about. I’m glad that it’s over for the short term, but it really never ends unfortunately, they keep it in the spotlight on the internet and the TV screen everyday. Life goes on in Thailand, and Costa Rica, and everywhere else in the world, take back your life and tune it out as much as possible would be my advice.
oh no that sucks, so there is no plan of Whale Tail re opening at all? That's good you're out finding new spots tho. Have you been out to Aracari Restaurant? It was a great spot we went to with friends.
@ Yes I’ve been there a few times, great sunset views. I go to a local softball game that’s been held since 2000 I think, and have been able to build some new friendships with some longtime residence, some Canadians, Central and South Americans, Europeans and people from the States of course. It’s fun to hang out on the bench and just shoot the breeze, not willing to risk a long term injury to my old body. Then some of us go and have a cerveza and a snack at a local soda in the neighbourhood. Great fun. Not sure if the Whale Tail Brewery will survive, not enough business and they’re closing 2 days a week now.
Yes, this area is so cool and will make a good video to have you in. We'll discuss Sunday! We could even try taking the boat, maybe there is more food on the other side! It's probably something like 5 or 10 Baht
Watching it on TV! Good one the locals were very receptive. Def gotta go back and w Shayna and get some food back in the first neighborhood. Bring some propane accessories with ya. I like the walks personally. Also gives you an opportunity to scout. Of course family vids will get more traction, the Thais really enjoy watching families experience their country. Appreciate the vids as always.
Thanks haha, you caught the King of the Hill reference! Yes we're going to be going back to film with a friend who also has a channel, a food channel. We want to help boost his channel to our community.
@ Oh boy that Safety Wing is $$$ for my age bracket 😉 Yes Grif I’ve watched a few of his vids before. The Ruam Siab market I watched (because it’s next to my hotel). Not many vloggers I haven’t stumbled on yet, in fact there’s a few gems I discovered just like your channel. TBH there’s a few that really like to hear themselves talk 😂 mostly Brits. There’s one American family that’s pretty established (I’ll look for it) that did Ao Nang, Krabi, Bangkok etc.
@bombdropperboys385 haha yes a lot of Brittish channels here. We like to mix talking with visuals, this is also why we have different series on our channel to mix it up more. SafetyWing is one of the most cost reasonable on the market, but yes as we Ge older it costs more 😔 damn aging!
Hi Chris and Shayna! Speaking of shitty days, mine was beyond! I just out found that my husband's visa was denied!! 😢😢😢 Watching your videos really puts a smile on my face!! 😊😊😊 Thank you Chris&Shayna. We have to figure out our next step, since he won't be here for the Holidays!! 😢😢
Oh no sorry to hear Amy! Things happen for a reason and God has a different plan for you at this time. We keep telling you, go to China with him! Teach online and get off the ant trail, you're clearly good with kids based on your sample videos on your channel and also if you haven't yet make a digital copy of your book as well as an audio version to sell online.
@TheDufresnes first of all, thank you for the wonderful compliments! Secondly, he wants to try to apply for a different visa, which could take a year, minimum! I am trying to convince him that I should come to China, however he keeps insisting that America has more opportunities, things are not good economic wise in China, etc...I wish you could knock some sense into him! I keep telling him I am physically and emotionally worn out with knee and back pain. He said my job is stable here at least in the medical field! He just doesn't get it, going to try reasoning with him this weekend again. 🤨😬 Meanwhile, I may not see him until at least September, by then it will be 2 years since I have seen him! 😪😭😭
@amywamala things are very stable economically in China, I'm guessing he watches main stream media that makes the United States look like the end all be all. Definitely glad Trump won but it's going to be harder and harder to get visas as they clean up the current mess. North American promise isn't the same as it used to be and even thr citizens are struggling as you know. Definitely talk some sense into him!
Love those alley ways! The really tight ones remind me of Panajachel. I agree, one of my favourite things when travelling is just random exploring to see what I can find - best discoveries happen that way. Your clothes are on the way!! Only a couple more days!!! 😂

You can search saphan Khwai on google maps, I've also added the location in the description of the video
she said dead end.
Oooh! Thank you! I did eventually find a way through thanks to the security guard 😊 that was nice of her to warn me
Dead end = "Tarng tonne" in Thai
