They basically realized how insignificant they are after kabir singh was a box office hit despite their scathing attack on crucial moment amongst lacklustre performances by eshtablished bollywood veterenes. They thought an outsider is an easy one to pick on. But it clearly wasnt the case n they are basically dependent on other peoples hardwork. (As Srv said anyone can do a review, and i am adding profficiency in english also doesnt qualify as talent) So they rushed in to have a damage control of some sort.
