Some churches are not afraid. Most of the ones I've been to are, tho.....If you gotta consistently talk about homosexuality during service, I know how scared and concerned you are. I don't wanna go to church and hear that. I want to hear about something I can relate to; that I experience.

Case and point: As an African-American man I could be in the closet concerning my sexual orientation by choice; I could conceal that from others when deemed necessary. I cannot be in the closet concerning my racial identity. Because we live in a society that judges upon appearance and quickly makes decisions about the person (we size people up in the first 5 seconds as we see them) based upon our inherent prejudices and feelings concerning their presentation of what we see of others. Just a message to Christians...as a Christian myself, who had to learn this lesson...you do NOT have to argue your faith. Christianity and/or spirituality is a choice. A conscious decision believers have made to follow Christ...All that you can do as a Christian is present your views to those who are not Christians...it is between THEM and GOD if they chose not to listen to what you are sharing with them. one of my best friend is gay. i personally do not agree with the gay lifestyle & he knows and respect my feelings, but i don't discriminate against anyone based on race, religion, sexual orientation etc. nor do i promote violence against gay people or anyone for that matter. i believe that if someone is gay, we don't have to like with it but we should respect them as equal human beings. the most we can do is pray for them as we would for anyone else, and hope that we would be saved in the end.

We choose war as an alternative based on our own national morality. The new testament, unlike the old, is addressed to individuals, not to a nation (Israel) it offers no instruction for such things. We are all sinners. The point is to sincerely go to Jesus with a made up mind and heart to change. He will help you overcome whatever it is. God has given us power to overcome by His holy Spirit and the Word which is Christ. It won't be easy. You WILL slip and slide, but with God you WILL overcome and have the victory. You might feel you were born that way and yes that is true because we are all born in sin but He will help you. You are not alone in this. May God be with you.

The idea of Judeo/Christian values kept a moral restraint in the minds of many. Even though issues like slavery, racism, and sexism was a strong undercurrent undermining the aforementioned values. Now we have another abomination vying for people's attention in similar fashion the others did in previous generations. We have as much spiritual discernment as a gnat. Read Ezekiel 32 on how several nations condemned another for failing to learn from their abominations.

I am, too, a Christan and believe from the teachings of Jesus Christ, that being gay is a sin. However, straight, gay, black, white, whatever your situation, we ALL need to be respected and treated fairly. Now, we can't choose what color we want to be, but we can choose the life we live. To be a Christian or any other religion, for that matter, is to have a belief, that you accept, by faith, as truth. "Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" So whatever one believes, by faith, is their truth. Since this is a truth that can not be put to test it has to remain personal. You can't take God to the ballot box, coz someone else might have a different god than yours.
As an observation, almost 100% of people who call themselves homosexual base their homosexuality on personal experience and emotion (i.e. I felt this way, etc.). But when McClurkin does the same about his former homosexuality (I felt this way...) his experience and emotion needs "education" 3:43 and "adjustment" 4:10.
I don't know anything about the "Book of the Dead" so I'll look it up, but the Bible is the most largely corroborated ancient text known to man. Also, literary experts have remarked that the continuity of the texts (recurring themes, etc.) is uncanny for a work of about forty authors. I know the Bible was recorded by man, but I believe and know that the ultimate author is the Holy Spirit. "Today if you hear His voice, harden not your heart."

You have to understand when the President was taught Christianity he was taught the social aspect of the gospel. Now that does not mean he does not understand what many call personal salvation. But it seems to me that his brand of Christianity is that which brings about the "kingdom of God" on a social level. There has always been a divide in the black community of the salvation bunch in contrast to the social bunch, quiet as its kept.

The constitution is the rule of law in the country. That is right and we should live by it. But it is also reflected by the beliefs, attitudes, and practices of the society it finds itself. We are endowed by our "Creator" unalienable rights. For the majority of the then society, as it related to sexual behavior, there was not even a hint at same-sex unions. It would have been laughed out of the meeting halls. There was a strong Judeo-Christian feeling even without idea of a national religion.

one of my best friend is gay. i personally do not agree with the gay lifestyle & he knows and respect my feelings, but i don't discriminate against anyone based on race, religion, sexual orientation etc. nor do i promote violence against gay people or anyone for that matter. i believe that if someone is gay, we don't have to like with it but we should respect them as equal human beings. the most we can do is pray for them as we would for anyone else, and hope that we would be saved in the end.

I should add that we have no basis for establishing a consensus on how God feels about any particular modern war, so there is no basis for asserting that any such war is the will of God. We choose war as an alternative based on our own national morality. The new testament, unlike the old, is addressed to individuals, not to a nation (Israel) it offers no instruction for such things. It gives indications of the fact that God understands force is necessary in some cases but no specific instruction
We are all sinners. The point is to sincerely go to Jesus with a made up mind and heart to change. He will help you overcome whatever it is. God has given us power to overcome by His holy Spirit and the Word which is Christ. It won't be easy. You WILL slip and slide, but with God you WILL overcome and have the victory. You might feel you were born that way and yes that is true because we are all born in sin but He will help you. You are not alone in this. May God be with you.

The idea of Judeo/Christian values kept a moral restraint in the minds of many. Even though issues like slavery, racism, and sexism was a strong undercurrent undermining the aforementioned values. Now we have another abomination vying for people's attention in similar fashion the others did in previous generations. We have as much spiritual discernment as a gnat. Read Ezekiel 32 on how several nations condemned another for failing to learn from their abominations.

I think it's bold for someone who struggled with his sexuality, overcame it with the blood of Jesus Christ and openly testified about it. That's what Donnie experienced and tries 2 make ppl 2 understand.

I am, too, a Christan and believe from the teachings of Jesus Christ, that being gay is a sin. However, straight, gay, black, white, whatever your situation, we ALL need to be respected and treated fairly. Now, we can't choose what color we want to be, but we can choose the life we live. We are not promised happiness ever in our life time. The only thing we are promised is death. And when we die, we will then know if the life we choose was the right choice. so don't hate one another...LOVE LIFE

Then why use anything from the old testament. I've heard the argument "well that's in the old testament. The New Testament makes up for the old testament." Then why follow it at all? Why believe in the creation story? You can't cherry pick what you want to from the bible; it's all still in there and many people believe it is the literal word of God.

hell no, i'm an atheist, but what i believe, is only important to me... I do study religions so that i can better understand the people who practice them. It's a big ole world and we have to co-exist so I like to engage people of different faiths. However i am very intolerant of hypocrites.
I don't think Christ came to pull man from sin but man was however drawn to him from sin. The church is trying to pull instead having ppl drawn to it, that's why there isn't much success.

To be a Christian or any other religion, for that matter, is to have a belief, that you accept, by faith, as truth. "Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" So whatever one believes, by faith, is their truth. Since this is a truth that can not be put to test it has to remain personal.
You can't take God to the ballot box, coz someone else might have a different god than yours.
As an observation, almost 100% of people who call themselves homosexual base their homosexuality on personal experience and emotion (i.e. I felt this way, etc.). But when McClurkin does the same about his former homosexuality (I felt this way...) his experience and emotion needs "education" 3:43 and "adjustment" 4:10.
I don't know anything about the "Book of the Dead" so I'll look it up, but the Bible is the most largely corroborated ancient text known to man. Also, literary experts have remarked that the continuity of the texts (recurring themes, etc.) is uncanny for a work of about forty authors. I know the Bible was recorded by man, but I believe and know that the ultimate author is the Holy Spirit. "Today if you hear His voice, harden not your heart."

You have to understand when the President was taught Christianity he was taught the social aspect of the gospel. Now that does not mean he does not understand what many call personal salvation. But it seems to me that his brand of Christianity is that which brings about the "kingdom of God" on a social level. There has always been a divide in the black community of the salvation bunch in contrast to the social bunch, quiet as its kept.

Americans have the right to associate freely, and they have the right to enter into contracts with one another. That is in the constitution and means that we *should* be allowed to have sex with and/or marry men or women, whether or not we are men or women. That is freedom.

The constitution is the rule of law in the country. That is right and we should live by it. But it is also reflected by the beliefs, attitudes, and practices of the society it finds itself. We are endowed by our "Creator" unalienable rights.
For the majority of the then society, as it related to sexual behavior, there was not even a hint at same-sex unions. It would have been laughed out of the meeting halls. There was a strong Judeo-Christian feeling even without idea of a national religion.
