- Okay not my normal content but I tried to turn it into a bit of a glitchless speedrun too (while also showing it off better than it is, avoiding bugs and Heroes Jank etc, it's still in development and most you won't play it anyways so trying to make it look good) anyways so as to not just be a low effort commentaryless video like generic mod showcaser#34624.

I understood what they were doing.
Speed = Run close together.
Fly = Tower formation.
Power = Spread out.
But personally, I enjoy seeing all of the flying characters run on the ground.

As a kid, I feared rail canyon & bullet station more than hang castle/mystic mansion mostly because the rails where buggy and the trains looks so damn scary
The trains were great yeee, shame about the rails tho yeah. It's just a little, er, inaccurate at detecting that you're trying to switch to another rail sometimes which can lead to death, which sucks because like, other than that imo it's the bestrail grinding system in any Sonic game
God the pain of having a flight character be your favorite when you were a kid and not being able to play as just them without the silly tower formation 😩
This is something I would have loved! You have no idea the amount of times I visited this level just so I could ditch my teammates using that abduction robot thing and FINALLY be the character I actually wanted to be lol 😂

The tower formation is why I never switched to flying type unless mandatory in Heroes lmao I just hated how you were ALWAYS like that

I never felt like I was playing as the flying characters in this game, but rather "tower formation." This really is how I wanted the game to be because you still get the tower attacks when jumping so nothing is lost! If this ever goes public this is how I want to play the game again

Oh my goodness this is beautiful. Hopefully this change also in turn avoids the issue of losing all your speed when going from Speed to Fly unless you know how to play around the jank by switching to Power before even that.
It does indeed, you can see how easily I switch between them all on rails, works the same off too

@@TwisterTH Just the one person I think. It's not like they've been working on it straight but it's always been the obvious mod of mods to make I suppose. I think the person just stumbled into some code a little bit ago that was somewhat related and was like you know what yeah I'm going to finally be the one to do this and got to it. Still not fully done but you know it's a solid go at it for a first release.
There's not too many gameplay mods for Heroes outside of physics and graphics stuff I think so it's not like it's easy.
You can do that without this mod. Just shoot the other two.
If Sega ever remakes Sonic Heroes, putting this in the game should be their top priority.

Glad you like it! There's plenty of cool mods for this game at this point tbh. I tend to link most of them in my videos but one I can recommend for a full playthrough that I haven't done anything on would be the Heroes Rebalanced mod, iirc it removes the repetition between the teams for a more streamline 100% of the story.
Maybe I should do a video on that too, just a bit long to speedrun and I don't wanna just be some casual low quality playthrough like most mod showcase vids ahaha

Well I've got a bunch of Heroes vids in a playlist but ye not sure convinced I'd pay this week through the entire game without a lotttt of resetting.

@@PixelBolt Yeah, sadly... I wish Sega would put it on modern consoles but there's a lot of tape as to why they haven't.
No one expects it to be perfect every time~ Even with mistake it's still likely better than 80% of what's out there => I'll have to check these uber hard ones out though, they sound brutal haha!

Nope, people don't mod Game Cube Heroes.
There are however ways to 'kill' the other two characters in the base game which will let you run around as just the fly type, that might be what you're thinking of.

I don't use them because I find it fine enough tbh.
But like the physics engine is based off the same ones as Adventure, and I know there's a physics tweaking mod that I think just has a Preset to basically make it identical.
But Adventure games tend to get all the press coverage and fame etc regardless

@@Beastmd I've done some speedruns of Adventure levels in Heroes already ye, tho with Vanilla physics since I'm fine with them, and well, without this mod because it didn't exist. It still needs some work too so probably wouldn't use it all the time until it gets an update.

I can't wait for Sonic Adventure 3. This was supposed to be the third installment in the Adventure series, however it isn't called SA3 so I only hope we get an official Sonic Adventure 3 soon.
I mean it's the unofficial Adventure 3i guess in all but name.

clearly youre a little new to the sonic community which is fine but yeah, its in my opinion, and many others as well that its not time for sa3 still. maybe one day but not today. also sonic heroes was never going to be sonic adventure 3 just so you know, from the start the developers of sonic heroes intended to have made sonic heroes to have been a soft reboot for sonic, which it was.

Yeah that is like a super common thing for people to wanna do dw, certainly not alone there is pretty much almost everyone. Many would even do it by like getting the other characters trapped or killed too leave just the fly type

Built around what? You can still thunder shoot and go around as a tower if you want after flying, which I believe they intend to make optional in the future

Im not usually a fan of "improvements" that conflict with the games intended design, but this one is is quite alright. Good job.
Well the mod isn't mine, you can find the link to it as usual but ye it is much better, still a little buggy but a great start, I think I was the one that mentioned they should go back into fly formation to them tho since yeah it's generally good to have, also since you kinda need to be able to shoot your team mates when you want ahaha.
Sonic Heroes!! One of my favorites. It's in my Top 10. I love Sonic. The games and character inspired me in many ways.

at first I thought this was just speed formation with tails at the lead, which is kinda boring, but then I saw you group them up during the second three-switch puzzle, do you group up the team by hitting x in midair, sorta like how you'd pull in allies to launch as knuckles or omega?
Basically whenever you start flying you go back into town formation again is how it works
As a kid I always wanted the flight characters without the stack: it feels so weird to see them without the stack but it looks better to me. If the rumours around the remake are true then this should be in it.
Those rumours gone around every year, I can't imagine they're more true now and I highly doubt it'll be a feature in it if there even was but ye
The only issue is that it will defeat the pourpous on the use of some switches thats at the height when in the flying tower position. Ssame goes with the special stages where the rings are arranged to be overeach other. Unless there is a button where you change the position
I mean you can still go into town formation if you watched the video, tho the way you do it isn't really great for special stages so yeah it would probably be best to default to tower in those, not that they're even really useful nor do they feel good in the special stage in tower formation anyways
Okay I need to play this mod, now I can actually use fly type character other attacks( Dummy rings, Chao attack, and stinger attack )

I've always that when I was a kid, but after replaying the game recently and now watching this video... yeah I see why they gave fly characters the tower formation.
It's certainly more unique that way, had it's pros and cons to both

Whenever I remember this game was released by the end of 2003, I still get dumbfounded with how much work and dedication SEGA put on it.
I understand people complaining about the flying formation, and some glitches here and there, besides the VERY inaccurate controls to grind on the rails, but God is this game a masterpiece to me.

ultimately i think this change is far better than vanilla but i do think it takes something away. think of the formations as lines:
speed is on the z-axis, power is on the x-axis, and fly, until this change, was on the y-axis.
reminded me a lot of the formations in zelda: four swords adventures on GCN, honestly

This works so much better! When Sonic uses a tether system that pretty much makes your party rubberband together, it's an ugly mess. But THIS. is how it should be. I would never switch from Tails
Yeah switching to and from Tower formation could be quite jank at times huh, I always find it worse switching to Tails because like it seemed to teleport you around randomly depending on where Tails was when you switched too. People use it for speed runs iirc but looks fit just actually playing the game it's not that great and can kill people

Yes, that's the mod, fly type can run around in their own instead of going into the tower formation, until you start flying
Kinda weird this wasn't originally supposed to be based on how power characters can join their teammates for attacks, and speed characters can join together for the boost.
Yeah that's true then too think about it, the other two can call their teammates and aren't stuck to them when they don't need them so what's up with fly other than trying to be different

Yeahhh, the rail switching can be a little risky sometimes huh. Which is a shame because the actually grinding part is probably the best in the series otherwise.

This is way better but I feel like the stock game had its own dynamic game balance with flying characters and rails. If you chose to use fly formation on the rails, you could fly back up if you got knocked off or if you jumped down and missed one but you lose a lot of speed. If you were trying to get an A rank, then you had to be balsy and use speed formation while grinding to get a good enough time. That was as satisfying as Sonic Heroes got back in the day.
I mean I suppose, I don't know I don't think anyone actually would ever intentionally grind in tower formation sheets, it's so painfully slow.
You'd be surprised. I used to always switch to fly on treacherous sections of rail due to constantly getting knocked off. Egg albatross is particularly bad because sometimes the booster pads make you miss the rail.

I don't really think this is a fix, it's just different. A real fix would be the Flight being more like SA1's, but with the heroes Flight Meter.

Also no that would just make it less interesting, like, why would you want to just fly over the level like that, they're made the way they are so fit and be part of the level design, not a way to skip the level design.

Well, like I said, it would still be dictated by the Flight Meter heroes has. I guess a more accurate description would be the way it is handled in P-06, but with a longer recovery time for the Meter after landing. No height cap, but you still have to manage your flight and not just float over the Stage.

Dropping like rocks I always enjoyed more than floating down just because you don't have to wait for it to happen, the dummy rings well I agree they're not exactly very Tailsy but hey it's a rehearsal for him.

i always hated Rouge and Tails rings attacks, it's looks bad :c.

I always liked them tbh, certainly much more versatile than just a melee attack. Tho it gets a bit hard to tell what's a real ring and what's a fake sometimes

Likely in an attempt to make all the chargers feel more unique, similar to how in Adventure 1/2 they all had their different playstyles. Tho that's not always a good thing, especially slowing things down in a game people wanna go fast in

Pc version? What about the GameCube emulator version?
No one mods that version, it's usually a pretty bad idea to mod the non native version of a game. Like there's zero reason to play the GameCube version other than to maybe use the Netplay
How to setup the mod? It keeps crashing whenever I try to switch to either tails or knuckles, i can't do anything to fix this so can you please help??? this mod looks so fun :(((
It should be the same as any other mod you just slap it in Reloaded2 and go, do you have any other's that might be conflicting with it?

Nope, no one would bother touching the Dolphin version when PC version is right there. Equally other than being a bit easier to setup there's no reason to bother with the Dolphin version either, as all mods are for PC and even mods asides it's just the better version.
@@PixelBolt the reason I say it is because not to long ago I started playing the game again , a modded ROM I made myself , just custom music, stuff like that some AR codes that make the game a little more fun , and of course a texture pack and full 4k. At one point I had the PC version and was using reloaded for the textures pack but there was a bug in the casino stage where the cannon didn't launch me all the way to the other side of the stage and that happened with all teams so I couldn't get past that 😂 so that's when I switched to Dolphin, those texture packs are best for the game as of now , and they got ported to Dolphin and on there it worked fine ! I feel bad for switching back but if they're not gonna mess with dolphin I might as well !
@@heduartorres Yeah I mean there's texture packs you can download for Reloaded as well, Reloaded2 is what's used. No idea what the problem you had was (maybe just a weird copy of the game?) but maybe you can ask around in the Heroes modding server about it. I feel like you'd be wasting your time a bit modding the Dolphin version tho since well why would people who mod the game play that version when they can play the PC one with custom characters and stages and physics and textures and music already there and stuff.

Ahaha, most shortcuts that don't fall under glitches tend to be obvious once you know them, can be a bit harder to figure it out beforehand tho

Tbf I feel like this is a very common thought for most people who played Heroes, I remember as a kid I'd just leave behind the other characters on switches while I ran around as just the Fly Character for fun

Issue is as far as speedrunning go they're not exactly super fast so figured this was the best of both worlds. Plus still a little buggy for now so had to work around that

@@lefeeshchopped8286 Yep it's a work in progress mod, it basically works and you can give it a go, they just need to fix up a couple issues with the attacks (partly why I didn't want to just run around as the fly type too) and they want to add some custom options on behaviour like if they stay as a tower after flight iirc.

I hate the flying formation so much, but the characters i wanted to play as were all the flying ones... Except for team chaotix, i really liked Vector because he was big brain.
But like Tails is literally my favorite character, Cream is adorable and I really liked Rouge's outfit. Please bring it back sega i beg you, that is her best outfit.
Oh? Never heard that one before, most people aren't keen on Rouge's outfit in Heroes iirc.
@@PixelBolt Really? Of every outfit Rouge has ever had, that is my #1 favorite. Although, maybe I'm biased, this game was my introduction to the thieving bat.

Better on PC tbh, then you can get the mods, but er it's hard to get working nowadays I suppose.
But ye whatever system you get it on its still an enjoyable game imo

Why, there's no point in anyone doing anything with the GameCube version, in fact pretty much no one has for that reason, mods are for PC versions if people can help it. The only thing I ever use the Gamecube version for it Dolphin's online Netplay

Well I think the thing is that SHC doesn't really lend itself to the kinds of small mods like this I suppose, the kinds of mods you use in conjunction with a bunch of others. And there's not really going to be any large scale Heroes entire revamps

Yeahhh so like turns out that the mod loader loads the mods from top to bottom so the bottommost mod has most priority, so it got overridden in some of them, ack. It'll be back for any future PC videos now I know it works like thatttt

Yeahhhh I get what they were going for but like how they control or more specifically how changing to them works in the base game is really not great. Certainly feels nicer like this. I feel like I wasn't alone in doing this by getting the other teammates killed in vanilla just to try pfft
