For me, I agree the 144001 is probably top of the tree overall but the A9 series is a massive hold on a second were here as well. The Sg is a "fun" car but as I have a 8 year old to counter test my opinions he got bored very quickly and tbh he loves the A949 we have better. However, too add to this channel because Ricky is brilliant and his numerous vids add a hell of a lot he takes a lot of our buying options either in or out of our scope. This has enabled me for example to look at other options, my first foray is the very very underated Xinlehong cars, I picked up a 9136 for £30 and my lad still goes to this car for fun and I will be putting a brushless kit in for him. Following Ricky over this last year or so we have grown as a Rc father and son noobs, I can't thank Ricky enough for his input and now me and Sawyer have a Typhon and Quantum Flux to enjoy, however this wouldnt have happened had we not gone this journey through the items here. For anyone interested incase they think im just BS, we have a 144001,A949,Sg1601, 12428-b(brilliant imo) Xinlehong 9136, two DeeRc cars (sandyland and Black Ghost) 3x 18311 (Thanks to TomleyRc) and now our Typhon and Mav . Channels like this fuel our interest because they do our buying for us, and for free. Please guys sub to this channel, it costs you just a click !.
Cheers Phil glad you agree its just so hard to find an RC at the moment that can offer what the 144001 does at such a good price. I've tried many different RC's now in that price range and none have fully compared to it so well done WLTOYS. Really appreciate the support mate the past year and the kind words. Starting the channel from scratch back in March 2020 and after being out of the RC hobby for over 8 years i had to play catch up with the latest offerings and tech which was somewhat difficult at the time but feel like now i have a good idea of what the current RC world has to offer and that's why i love putting these lists together so hopefully anyone new into the hobby or just looking for a cheap/budget RC will know where you start! You certainly have a great collection now and no doubt it will continue to grow! 😀👍👍

I bought the WLtoys 144001 based on your opinions. Great instructions, good explanation. Unfortunately, after just 5 days of use, a steering cup broke after a crash. This is no problem, because there are so many parts available! If you can wait a month for shipping, there's no reason to be cautious with the car. I haven't bought any other RC cars, but damn is this a good buy.

When i refer to metal components in this vid i am talking about driveshafts, shocks etc as a lot of cheap RC's in this price range are plastic fantastic. I have watched Kevin Talbot lots of times he is a great guy but cant say i agree with everything he has said over the years but i do agree on the metal vs plastic debate.

Education is overrated in my opinion. LOL
Spot on with the HBX 16890 (FTX Tracer esque) Have bought 4 of them for myself and family requests. It will however benefit greatly with inexpensive upgrade oil shocks to replace original friction crapola. Great little rig that handles better than it’s MT cousin, the HBX 16889.
I am currently looking at an RC to get into the hobby that will not break the bank. The FTX tracer looks good and is a nice price, I was just wondering what the durability and parts availability is like and if its possible to get a better battery with it. I was thinking of getting one of those and then down the line upgrading it to brushless once I get used to it. The 144001 seems great but I'm also cautious ordering from places like that incase there is a customs charge or if it arrives broken it is harder to sort. What would everyone advise for me?
The FTX tracer is ideal to get you into the hobby. Many difference companies have used that chassis design so parts are available everywhere. The 144001 is also another great first RC but the issue is shipping from china and then parts availability could be an issue. If you dont mind waiting a couple weeks i have used banggood many times without any customs charges but its always a risk you may incur charges :)
I can’t complain with my WL toys I can’t remember the silly numbers but it’s the purple one in this review £75 bought a couple more battery’s it’s good fun.
Its around £87 or $120 i believe and is available to pre order now on banggood. Absolutely mine should be here before the end of the month hopefully 😀👍
I really like your video but I think the hbx 2188a street slider (a remake of last year 2188 street slider) is a very nice rc car that is pretty much ignored though it is very cheap and a ton of fun. Also a bit of an old rc car but really satisfying for drifting on the right surface is the wltoys a252. Consider checking those out.
Will be the king for a while nothing can offer the same value for money at the moment! Hahaha got to love those numbers.. waiting patiently for the day when they release their cars with names!!

for me I am liking the brushed hbx 16890 /ftx tracer for a cheap garden bash loaner,although a small scale 1/14 or so short course would be nice,no idea which is the best of those though.
I think the hbx is the best and it's even better if u get the sg version cuz that company puts the metal upgrades in the drivetrain in u pay around 115 on bangood and the hbx is only 80 ..we've brought them to the skate park with 8 year old kids smashing into everything and nothing broke.the wltoys come with the worst electronics I've ever used they die with in 2 weeks and u can tell the hbx is just better quality just my opinion.. great video bro
I totally agree and the only reason i have excluded crawlers from all of my top 5 lists is because i have found beginners just dont appreciate the technical aspect of crawling and how much thought goes into working out a good line etc. Most beginners i have introduced to RC in real life all ask exactly the same question.. How fast is it? Can it do stunts and jumps? When they see the low speed of a crawler their interest levels drop dramatically. I think crawling is incredibly niche and most new comers look for speed, reliability and durability. This is a shame as crawling is a great way to get into RC but sadly not that appealing to newcomers. Hope you are good man and we need to get this Typhon Built i am currently slacking!! 😂😂

I just built a new center diff using an aluminum housing and the 46t spur gear from the Talion instead if the stock 50t that comes with the Typhon. After hitting 101mph I tried shaving some weight and removed some lip off the rear wing to reduce drag then installed ceramic bearings in all the hubs and on the spool gear; this just made hitting the same 101mph smoother. I built the diff to drop back to the 16t pinion gear for some bashing. I should do a video of my SCX24 and some of the mods I’ve done to it as well.

So my son uses the traxxas rustler got second hand for 100$ with battery and put a bumper and wheelie bar and is indestructible. All the cars on your list last 10 minutes, wltoys cheap plastics break at the wheels suspension link and hub carriers. I own three wltoys they are all out of commission waiting for parts. Traxxas costs me 3 -15$ a month in repairs and he goes through 20000 mah daily since covid.
The 959 are still selling for same as 14 scale. The 12 scale can go for same price. The bigger wltoys you get the tougher they are more space for aftermarket electronics as well

144001 is really easy to control mate. If you are going on road though upgrade to Contact Foam Tyres as they hug the road surface really well and increase speed by a few MPH.

I love the wltoys 144001 I’ve converted to brushless but it’s very nice but small so I think the 124019 is better for speedruns like you said
