- History of the Victor Talking machine company . RCA Victor. Victor existed between 1901-1929, until being bought by RCA in 1929, of which would continue until the 1980s, when RCA was bought by BMG.

Although RCA acquired Victor in 1929, the "RCA Victor" name didn't officially appear on the labels until the fall of 1945. General Electric bought out RCA in 1986, which almost immediately sold off the record division {but keeping the rights to the "Nipper"/"His Master's Voice" trademark} to BMG.
Barry I. Grauman In the U.K., they used the Nipper logo to avoid confusion with Victor, but they called the label "His Master's Voice", or HMV, and also made phonographs under the HMV name, and became popular in the U.K.
