I BOUGHT A CHEAP Copart Audi A6 With A CLEAN TITLE *Supercharged*

  • My buddy Eli bought this 2011 Audi A6 from Copart with a CLEAN TITLE. It was listed as no key so he took the bait, bought the car, and had a key made. Unfortunately once the key was made he found out the engine was seized and it suddenly needed a $3,000 engine to finish the project. Eli decided to sell the car to me and move on to another project. I can't wait to swap it and get this car back on the road!

@@chadriddle3517 should be able to get an in line canbus that plugs into the headlight and wire harness from the led manufacturer or online somewhere. You can also get a fault equalizer that you wire into the wires themselves that will correct the voltage being detected by the computer and should clear the codes. I would suggest the canbus as its way easier to deal with.

As someone who has purchased MANY (100+) vehicles from Copart, I can say two things: #1) Copart has THE ABSOLUTE WORST customer service of any company I've ever dealt with, and #2) you have to be INCREDIBLY careful when buying because there are SO MANY unscrupulous d-bags and scammers who sell cars there...and don't care AT ALL about screwing unsuspecting people over...it is absolutely crazy. I have never been screwed over there but that is because I ALWAYS check vehicles out very closely and I assume ANY VEHICLE without a key will need an engine or a transmission. I am constantly amazed by how incredibly unwise and ignorant people are when bidding on vehicles there.

Well, they were until they started making fluid couplings (i.e. just like Haldex) and calling them Torsens still. Fortunately this Audi has a real Torsen Type C in it, so yeah, way better. The good old days. Even Audi quit using Torsens and started making their own crown gear based setups that sound like they might actually work even better due to tolerating higher torque splits than the venerable Torsens.

You will save yourself a ton on heat and lighting alone and still have plenty of room for 1/2 dozen projects at the same time including a paint and body shop. And you will still retain the big warehouse if you need to grow into it. Oh and that big steel rack? If you got busy with a torch and welder you could actually rack cars on it (using the forklift you haven't got yet.)

While the engine is out, I recommend swapping the crank pulley with a solid one (they have a layer of isolation rubber that fails eventually), and maybe doing all the stuff under the SC (water pump, PCV, thermostat). Those are the three main fail points on these. Otherwise they're pretty stout. The other risky thing is the DSG transmissions if they haven't been maintained (assume they have them like my S4), so replace the transmission fluid and filter.

Same car as mine. If you get new wheels I have first dibs on the peelers!
I also believe that the exact spec of yours is the premium plus with sport package which adds those wheels and upgraded suspension.

Im going to be in your area for the next few days with nothing to do. If you need any more help with the shop or anything let me know . it will cost you a couple of those Dr pepper's. Lol. As far as the name for the shop how about the Do what you want to do garage. Also i would love to show you the big brother to your volvo. I picked up an 06 volvo v50 for under 2k and nothing worked in it. A 10 dollar can of electonic cleaner and a fuse later almost everything working and drove across country with it. What can I say you inspired me. Lol

First thing to do with any car on a scanner. Clear the codes!!! Then test drive (or in this case power off and back on) and see codes re-appear. If the battery has been disconnected for X amount of time VAG cars go nuts.

Most Audi quattros use torsen for awd and not haldex. Only Audi I know that uses haldex is Audi S1, Audi A3, Audi S3, and the Audi TT. Love your videos John Ross keep it up!

I do alot of work on audi's so basicly audi makes it so you have to take it to them for anything you might have unpluged. so if some one changed the light bulbs and error wil stay on. try clearing your codes before droping any money into and see what happens. and yes audi engines come out the bottom. leave it attached to the subframe when you bring it down and you will be golden.

New battery won't hold a charge? I doubt it. The battery's serial number probably needs to be registered with the ECU. I work at Auto Zone and we had a commercial customer who had an A6 in the shop that wouldn't hold a charge. They changed the battery, then the alternator, then ANOTHER alternator (they made a warranty claim) and it still wouldn't hold a charge. After we told them to reprogram the ECU for the new battery, all was well and happy again.
