    Looks like the first decent pocket/compact sized standalone multitrack recorder whose feature set rivals the BOSS Micro BR-80 which was released in April 2011. About time. Well done Zoom

      Reality is that BR80 still has a lot more possibilities :
      8 tracks - 64 virtual
      Bounce
      Mastering
      More effects.
      Stereo condenser mic
      Zoom does not respect customers

    Looking forward to your update review. I just bought this for live show recording because so far nothing like it has the 32 bit float options like this. Would love to know more about studio recording with instruments and click tracks or whatever this thing can do

    What's the noise floor of the pre - amp? Is it clean like the f4 or noisy like the h4n? What about the headphone out? Headphone out in f4 was coloured and not flat response- annoying for trying to assess mic placement when recording as you're not hearing an accurate EQ

    • @steviostevio3191

      It's close to the F4 but not the same. Preamps are better than in H4n

    Thanks for sharing. Are the built in amp sims able to pull off a convincing metal tone? Need something compact that I can plug into when I get an idea for a riff but don't want to have to worry about pedals, etc.. Thanks

    Matthew, can you do a video on how to make instruments bleed from one or the other sequence to another on the MP C1? I had A Trombone on a chorus or a hook sequence and when I duplicate it 3 times it would bleed into the next segment for 2 of the hooks, but not the last one. I'm sure it's a setting, but I couldn't figure it out.

    Is AUTOTUNE / VOCAL PITCH CORRECTION listed among the effects? Do you also get a 1 beat count-in before recording?

    • @GaryStockton
      @GaryStockton 4 місяці тому

      You get a 2 measure precount. On Auto-tune, you could bring your tracks into a desktop daw and mix/improve from there.

    • @BarkingForBroccoliBG
      @BarkingForBroccoliBG 4 місяці тому

      Fun fact if you get the Zoom V3 unit you have the pitch correction auto tune effect among the effect ms and also battery so could plug mic into v3 then ve into R4 and record auto tune type vocals into the r4 and could be anywhere with mic headphones and 8 AA batteries

    Is this at all similar to the 2 decade old Zoom PS02? I still use it for practice. Has a full guitar emulating section with drum programming in addition to the 3 track recording (yes, it does bounce tracks).

    I generally like Zoom recorders, and like the features of this. But I hate relying on AA batteries. The USB power helps, but is more hassle.

    Anyone know if I could use a headphone splitter to reamp the signal through a pedal while still monitoring? In other words - can you only monitor the wet signal during playback? Maybe I could drop the fader on the bounce?

    I purchased this product and have experienced some issues when trying to record a backing track from a device (both PC and iPhone) to one of the tracks using a 3.5mm audio cable with 1/4 inch adaptor (multiple cables and adapters so I have ruled out those pieces as malfunctioning). When I record using this method, the volume is low and has some sort of interference. I have tried input A and B with same results. I was able to use this method with my old Zoom MRS-4 without issue. It is almost as if the backing track is too much to handle. Any ideas?

    • @danonbass
      @danonbass Місяць тому +1

      Your phone is stereo but the inputs are mono, so you're only getting either left or right into the Zoom, ie only half the signal. You need to use a splitter, and both inputs on the Zoom

    Disrecorder is almost identical to the original version of their h four This is a better make in my opinion. Because it allows you 2 records straight into the unit. And you don't have to worry about breaking your mic because they're built-in. The machine instead of being external. I cannot wait to purchase this item. Because I really like my original H 4
    But I dropped it.
    And it stopped working.
    Correctly

    Set it to Lightning bolt?
    Do you mean... Supplies individually selectable phantom power to each input?
    Mono, not stereo tracks I'm guessing?
    Quite a difficult video to watch because the lighting is poor. A black subject on a white background will always cause exposure problems. Your camera is exposing the white table as 18% grey, making the black recorder too dark. Try a grey table or use a better light source!
    Looks like an interesting new product though.
    All the best.

      Yes, the Lightning Bolt signifies power for condenser microphones.
      Yes, appears as two mono inputs as far as I can tell so far. Still testing but, it seems safe to assume that they are 2 mono Multi-Inputs as it says in the quick start guide. It states XLR:MIC and TS:Instrument.
      Yes, I am aware. Brand new room an lighting and I also had the settings set for the MPC One which has a larger screen. Thank you for your input. 🙂🙏

    Almost put money down on this. I have a lot of Zoom stuff, so I'm not biased against them in any way. But the fact that this does not have auto-punch (according to the manual) weighed heavily against it. This makes no sense whatsoever, especially when one considers that the much older MRS-8 had auto punch, as well as midi out (to sync with things like external sequencers), and an interesting (if slightly complex) method of building full rhythm tracks. Zoom seems to be moving backwards in functionality. The company claims that all of its engineers are musicians, so I just can't understand neglecting a function as fundamental to recording as the ability to punch in and out without a separate pair of hands. Did i miss something? I really hope I did, because I really want one of these.
    Zoom also pushed the availability date way back. Originally, it was November 10. Now it is the 27th. They are probably not adding functionality. Its a manufacturing delay.

      This is a 32 bit float device. It was not designed to create master recordings. Post-production is a really big part of this device's functionality, or lack thereof. As a musician with a learning disability who dabbles in post production and field recording, This device is perfect for me.
