- The Nobel prize for physics this year has been awarded to physicists who proved that the universe in not real. ‘The Universe is not real’ - a concept that Vedanta has been proclaiming for millenia. The latest proof to this comes from this year's Nobel Prize winning physicists Alain Aspect, John F. Clauser and Anton Zeilinger.
We have finally arrived at a day where we are discussing the paradoxical aspects of quantum physics that can be easily resolved by applying the principles of Advaita Vedanta.
Physicists are now toying with the idea that the very purpose of the universe was to create conscious observers. Until observers appeared, the universe was in a state of quantum flux. It did not have any shape or form before observers came into being. All these sound less like physics and more in the territory of metaphysics.Is it possible to make sense of these bizarre findings? I indeed makes perfect sense when you look through the lens of Vedanta.

I consistently find it amusing as to how even children of Bhaarat are so unduly enamoured by modern, objective science to the neglect of the fundamental Science and the real Scientists (the Rushis). That it takes a person in another country wearing a coat/gown to convince us of the already disclosed Realisations millenia ago comes somewhat as an embarrassment.

Hello Ma’am. My mother sent me this video which educated her ; my gratitude. Beginning from 3:14, unfortunately it is false. Our conscious observation does not bring the particle into existence. An inanimate observer will also collapse the wave function. This is called as an Observer bias where a simple act of measurement alters the system being measured. A measurement can never be truly passive: the instrument measuring the phenomenon disturbs the phenomenon itself, like when we measure tire pressure we end up losing a bit of air. So, it’s not that we observe the wave into a particle, it’s just that we haven’t created a perfect measurement system that wouldn’t disturb the system itself, a disturbance caused by both conscious and Inanimate object. Having said that, interpreting the interference results as us bringing things to existence is reaching.
PS: it was discovered that the universe is not LOCALLY real. It’s a big difference. Quoting: “Local” means that objects can be influenced only by their surroundings and that any influence cannot travel faster than light.

If collapse occurred in our consciousness, two observers would see different events. Collapse due to consciousness is outdated and not really mainstream science anymore. As this responder said, non-locality and non-realness are not the same.
Measure tyre pressure without taking air from the valve is possible, by an external device you don’t loose air! Your analogy proves nothing.

If the world is not real and is only a result of Super consciousness's consciousness or dream then that means even the consciousness within that dream(we human beings and other living entities) are also not real because our existence is also only subject to the existence of Brahm's dream. Like when we dream all the living entities in that dream has existence only till the lifespan of the dream and like other objects in the dream they are also not real and their existence is vanished as we woke up from the dream. Similarly how in this unreal world we are real when just like other objects in this world we are also a result of Super consciousness's dream or super consciousness's consciousness?

They are not yet sure if conscious observer is required. How else would you define a measurement if not for a conscious observer?

I am a Doctor and the nature of Consciousness and the Universe always fascinated me. The universe exists in consciousness only.
I understand and feel the Universe, because what I sense by my sense organs are appreciated in the consciousness. If you search consciousness in the brain , you will not find it. It is beyond the brain and nerve cells.
When I see a flower it's redness is seen by me , only because the concept of redness is there in my mind( beyond the brain cells).If I am colour blind to red, I cannot see red. If all the people in this Earth are colour blind, there is no red Colour at all for us to discuss. And after all, what is a colour ? It is a particular frequency vibration interacting with the cones of Retina, producing a small current, which on reaching the cortical neurones, the colour is perceived. Who perceives it ? How perceived? Why perceived ?. No clear answer. It is perceived in consciousness. Because the concept of that colour is already there in mind, irrespective of the presence or absence of that colour/ frequency in the outside world. If the concept is already not there in the consciousness, you will not perceive it.
This is true for all other sensations like touch,smell or taste. In short , Universe exists in consciousness only. May be your consciousness perceive it when it is triggered by the external stimulus. But I think the inner concept of consciousness is more important. If you say that there in only inner consciousness, then outside world is an illusion.
What is consciousness ? Science does not have an answer. Because consciousness is subjective feeling.Science can deal with objective, measurable things only.
But because Consciousness is not objective , Science should not say that there is no Consciousness.
Probably in future Science will find a way to dissect it.

I'm Ajith Kumar, a former software developer.
I liked your take on consciousness, with the example of sensing or seeing an object. In his book 'What Religion Is' Swami Vivekananda also used this case of how extra-body (and hence not inherited from parents) elements/ instincts are getting involved in the process of seeing. The impressions/ consciousness that we carried from our past births and stored in our consciousness part of the Soul (the captive Brahman). The great JK also used the same to explain Maya. He argued since the things we see is based only on the image (an unreal thing) reflected in our retina, how can we believe that what we saw was nothing but real. This is same with all we perceive through our sense organs. They are limited by their 'bandwidths'. The world we see is hence maya, or not real, he asserted.

As far as my knowledge is concerned the claustrum in brain is responsible for our connection with the consciousnesss. A scientist at RIKEN institute, Japan has proved it. From my personal experience I can say that through pineal gland the seeing of truth or experiencing the consciousness ‘as it is’ happens. It happens on its own and we can only create situation in which it happens. This experience reactivates the sleeping claustrum in brain.

That brings you to the conclusion that if one can raise oneself to the position of an independent observer (the state we reach when we are in deep sleep) that is stipulated in Advaita vedanta ,when even the observer is non existent who is mingling in a cosmic state of absolute consciousness

These comparison is mainly good for the scientist and intellectual thinkers to discuss these matters. However, these represents only a tiny fraction of our human population.
As a chinese travelling to India to visit saints and sages, I came across a group of people called jiva muktas. Jivan muktas are called because they are free from the illusion of dualistic pain pleasure cycle. They are not subjected to the sex and hunger instincts which dominates the human population of this physical universe. Other words like avatars, sidhas have been used to describe these jivan muktas. According to Pramahansa Yogananda the author of a book auto biography of a yogi, he described and examined these jivan mukta people are different
