  • A year ago a posted a video of a day in the life working for the North Maine Woods and my personal life living off grid in a camper. The video got me a lot of new subs and still is a year later so I thought I'd update the video and show you what an average day looks like when I get out of work on Wednesdays!

My dog had ACL surgery in 2019 and 2020. It was hard but totally worth it. He had to be in a cage for almost 8 wks. THAT was terrible. But it got better week by week :) + more /longer walks.

He had his right knee done in 2019 and left knee done this year. I’m glad he has know more knees! 😅 His orthopedic doctor gives a recovery time of 12 weeks.. it’s horrendous 😩

@@AGirlFromMaine Yes , 12 weeks recovery time for mine too. But I felt like the second time was easier. My dog is only 14 pounds so i guess he had a different kind of ccl surgery than yours since he is heavier.

@@KristinHaugstoga Yeah, my guy is 80 lbs.. I worked as a vet tech for 5 years prior to moving north. A lot of our smaller breeds would get a Lateral Suture Repair or a Tight Rope repair for torn CCL. My pup has gotten TPLOs in both which is a metal plate screwed into his bone. Either or not a fun recovery to watch your furbabe go through.. but the results are amazing once you get to the end 😄

@@AGirlFromMaine Yes! Milo got a lateral suture repair. They recommended it, and it's also the cheapest one. $2500 for each knee, lol. He has arthritis in one knee.

For those that don’t know; can you explain what the “north Maine woods” is? 😉 thanks!

This is a great question! I should be putting this in most of my videos! The North Maine Woods is 3.5 million acres of privately owned land that is active logging and hauling wood. Multiple land owners and land management formed the North Maine Woods Inc. so that the public could have access to this land to camp, fish, hunt etc! You just have to pay to use roads and camp! There are multiple different gates you have to go through to access the land and I work at one of them! Hope this makes some sense!
