Yes, there are fees to register your car, you can find a break down here: scdmvonline.com/Fees. Taxes on your car are calculated similar to taxes on your home, it's based on the value. I paid $415 this year for my 2 year old VW Tiguan. We do have some 55+ communities in Myrtle Beach, some of the popular ones are Del Webb at Grande Dunes, Del Webb North Myrtle Beach, and Seasons at Prince Creek.

@@lifeinmb so do tell the mortgage company to set up escrows at the instate resident tax rates since I plan on applying for permanent resident asap after closing on the new house?
@@tomeng6733 Yes, your mortgage company should be aware of whether or not it is going to be your primary residence and the escrow contributions will be based off that.
I'm thinking about moving to Marion county. There is some pretty and hidden spots around there, one place is Centenary, cool hidden roads with nice forest and river.

@@lifeinmb I pay $800 for 6 months for car taxes on my 2 cars.. 17 Hyundai and 23 Ridgeline in VA.

How to do show filed taxes for SC if you just moved there and the next tax season is 9 months away?
Great question! The first year you move down here they will give you the discount without that but you will need to update them the following year.
