In 1997, Jari Mäenpää served in the Finnish military as part of his national defense duty, during which he contracted tuberculosis. The diagnosis was late, and Mäenpää required surgery to remove part of his lung, hospitalizing him for months.

Wintersun and Moonsorrow are two bands, that few people have heard of or know about, but trust me, they are the Gods of Metal. All the songs that these bands write are absolutely epic and amazing. To be honest, it is even difficult to choose their favorite song from them, all their songs are loved and are at an exorbitant level. I'm glad you discovered such a remarkable group for yourself. Their next song that you just need to listen to is - Time.

Also search for "Kai Hahto Sons of Winter And Stars" and you'll find a drum cam video and a playthrough video, and reaction videos to the drum cam video. One of the reactors is
"Zypher Drums", the guy took some drum lessons with Kai in Finland and got wasted with him drinking whiskey. Kai now plays in Nightwish. Plenty of drum cam videos with Kai playing Nightwish songs.

Kai gets a great workout in Wintersun's "Time" too. There's a rehearsal video, like Sons. I prefer Time personally. Also, like Nina said, you should definitely check Nightwish, they are every kind of awesome. :)
Kai got bit slow so now he is playing in Nightwish...easier ;)

I found this band through this song, by following a tip to see the drummer, Kai Hahto from my views of Nightwish and found another great band. If you haven't heard much from Nightwish that should be on your to do list right now! ;)
I've seen so called music experts react to this and they lost it in minute. It is special when you make song that almost doesn't have 4/4 at all and sounds fluid.

Kai Hahto is the drummer. He is the new drummer of Nightwish. You should check out their Ghost Love Score from Wacken 2013.

Great reaction, amn. In my opinion "Sons of Winter and Stars" represents the Journey thru Live everyone is going thru. First u are in the neverending everything between live and death..on the way back to live. After ur Birth u follow the path of the leaders and parents becuae u think they know what to do and save the world ur in..until u find that they most times work for their own thing and not saving the sun (good metaphor for the struggle of live "Winter" and the Moments of Joy "Summer"). After u realisted that u question urself who u are..and u go on ur own path to find urself. And afdter u did that..u are finally a son of winter and stars...fighting in the strugglebut still connected to the stars. Just like our ancesters! ;)

When I first heard this song, I just knew I had found something I didn't knew I needed in my life.
Kai is such a beast on the Drums (not to take anything away from the rest of the band), I'm what I would say in good shape (there are plenty of others in better shape), but I know if I was going to do what Kai just did there I would be on the floor needing oxygen.
I often listen to this song when I'm on the rowing machine.
Mr drummer is Kai Hahto...extraaordenery in talent...just google and y find ton of content of Kai.
