Kai bias here - fellow Kai biases and exo-ls were super excited for Kai’s debut. We had been asking for a “Kolo” (Kai solo) for years. However there were also so many people who were underestimating Kai and his ability to be a soloist before mmmh came out. People didn’t believe he would be successful because they didn’t think he had good enough vocals. But obviously once mmmh came out, that shut the critics up real quick.
When Kai's first album was released, I think mostly non fans were surprised by his vocals. Understandably because he have very little parts in EXO songs. When his solo was anounced, some even asked "who's going to sing?". His albums are like a slap in their faces. People were actually expecting him to use autotune. I'm just so proud of him! I didn’t know this. I only became Exo-L during pandemic hiatus era 😭 I learn so much watching old videos and reading Exo-L comments ❤ Kai could even be main vocalist in many other popular groups today. Every Exo member can be main vocalist in other groups… happy to see Kai proving haters wrong
Kai is the reason I got into K-pop. A friend suggested that I check out Love Shot & I fell down the rabbit hole of his fancams. He is such a great dancer that even when he is wearing a face mask or hat in the dance practices he still stands out. That's why he is considered one of the best dancers and performers in the whole industry, because he takes command of the stage and has full confidence in his performance the minute he steps on stage and becomes Kai. As an EXO fan since day one, I knew Kai was a great singer, so I was excited for him to get a chance to highlight his singing, as well as dancing. For new fans or those who didn't really know EXO, they had no idea. Non-fans were surprised by his singing and how good he was. The general public even questioned how he would be able to release a solo album because, unless you were paying attention to Kai for a while, most people didn't even know Kai could sing. As the main dancer of EXO, he didn't have very many lines in most of EXO's early songs. EXO is so full of amazing singers that SM pretty much focused on Kai's dancing, so he was more recognized for his solo dance brakes and as the center of the group, not a vocalist. Now, as you have seen, Kim JongIn is a different story. When not on stage, when he is just being himself he is actually really shy and innocent. That's often the mark of a great performer. A lot of the most iconic performers, dancers and artists in the world have this duality. That duality is why so many people love Kai/Kim JongIn. He is the complete package.
Yes...no surprise to me too, I expected Kai solo to he sexy and a performance album. Kai first solo mini album is my favorite, it's a non skip album, every song is amazing. You will know if u watch FILM : KAI. And as the member said, only Kai can do it this way.
Kai is my ultimate bias, he was from the start for me, he drew me into EXO and made a casual like of Kpop into an obsession. I remember being so nervous when he debuted because his voice has always been my favourite and I was worried in case he was dismissed as a dancer who sung a bit. The quality of performance for me was not in doubt yet it did shock many who only saw him in EXO performances where he does stand out and EXO choreo is not the easiest, but it's not showy and I think they handle it so well it can look easy therefore some people questioned whether he really was the ultimate performer. His debut show was full of his shyness and vulnerability that his fans love about him, and had me in tears. Then the video and I cried more because it was more than expected. The performance was all Kai. It showcased all of his talents and proved that he is an EXO vocal King as well as Kpop's dancing king. The more was the stunning concept and production which we knew he invested a lot of himself and his money into. The abiding emotion was a powerful pride on his behalf. I am very proud to be a fan of such a wonderful person and such a great artist.
i did not know about EXO or Kai when I first watched this. I was just so amazed with his performance, I watched all his videos on you tube in which he apoeared for 2 mos .😁 It took me awhile before I got to EXO. DO is my favorite in terms of vocal tone but Kai is my first window to EXO so he is my bias.😁
As an EXO'L for 9years and KAI BIAS all i can say is hes charm on and off stage still the same . Kai's smirk was the catalyst of my journey as becoming an Exo-L and a kpop fan in general 😅 He was my bias before I even knew what a bias was and he is still my ult bias after 8 years.. I usually find overconfidence off putting as well and probably I would not like him as much if his personality off stage was cocky like "I am sexy and all girls love me" but he is not.. He is really kind, quirky and funny..
Kai's dancing developed out of a ballet training background which lets him have both smoothness and power. One of the top 2 dancers in all of kpop along with Shinee's maknae Taemin. Not just me saying so but like general consensus that it's those two.
Jyp said when Kai dances he couldn't be any ruder cause he's got so much charisma. And as you know, his off stage is completely different, he's such a sweetheart and a humble person. Him and Taemin, are my favorite kpop dancers when it comes to this style. They're amazing ❤
as a big fan of exo and taemin from shinee i wanted kai to do something similar to what taemin was doing with his solos songs and i was not disapointed with mmmh. You can feel the inspiration but at the same time this is so kai. i really hope he keep going for that style again.

Kai was incredibly involved in all the styling choices and direction of this and every single album he has done since. He has very clear ideas of what emotions and story he wants to convey by the visual aspects in order to communicate alongside/amplify the song. When he picks clothing to perform in, it is very intentional. We know Kai was working on this debut album for a long time. I actually wasn't surprised he didn't do a solo debut earlier. He is such a perfectionist and I am sure he wanted to be sure of exactly the songs, the clothing, the choreo, every little detail cause that is just how he is. And he knows himself best, ,especially after the confidence of years of performing. He picks incredible songs that suit his taste, style and voice beautifully and he works incredibly hard to get close to the vision in his head (and still feels dissatisfied with his performance a lot of the time hahhahahaa)

I discovered Exo in 2021 after Don't fight the feeling got out, and i have to say that i got mezmerized by them for their vocals of course but the one who got my attention was Kai...his dancing threw me off i could see how detailed he was executing his choreographies, his live performance during baby don't cry on concert definitely made me his fan, the happiness he would show while dancing a contemporean choreo, and the fans cheering his korean name...it gave me goosebumps!and when i saw his "guide" it was game over for me...

I discovered Exo in 2021 after Don't fight the feeling got out, and i have to say that i got mezmerized by them for their vocals of course but the one who got my attention was Kai...his dancing threw me off i could see how detailed he was executing his choreographies, his live performance during baby don't cry on concert definitely made me his fan, the happiness he would show while dancing a contemporean choreo, and the fans cheering his korean name...it gave me goosebumps!and when i saw his "guide" it was game over for me...
