I went with the School around 1960, we went on the Egremont as I recall all the way from the Pier Head to Salford docks, then we were picked up and taken to Bellevue funfair near Manchester ( No longer there) and returned to Liverpool by a fleet of Corporation buses...it was a great day out lots of fun had by everyone
The Leigh cannel goes over the Manchester cannel that’s impressive bit off engineering All the water stays in the cannel.Block each end of the cannel. Brilliant Cheers have a great day
Hi Nick I did this trip a few years ago, but we went all the way to Salford near to Granada TV, then came back on a coach. I loved it very interesting. Another great video.
Had my 35th bday weekend in Liverpool, did 3 things I wanted to do, one was Mersey Ferry, which is Snowdrop, then to Birkenhead, and then onwards to Brookside Close estate also, lovely city Liverpool 😍🥰❤
Hi Nick , another fab video, my wife and I did this cruise a few years ago but right through to Manchester Salford Quays and a bus back to Liverpool, ( my wife thought we were going on a canal barge tho !! )
There’s a guy on UA-cam called the Bimblist, who cycles all over the place and gives great history of all the bridges and canals of Cheshire and Lancashire, well worth a view
should booked wavely boat from Liverpool to llandudno and Anglesey back it just finished but the next year to book looks great trip manchester ship cannal
Mr Drone, Does this trip not take you into Manchester anymore? They used to moor up for several hours there then bring you back? Does that not happen anymore? Fantastic video which was very enjoyable and probably the best Manchester Ship Canal Mersey Ferry video I have seen. although the aerial shots of the Ferry on the Mersey at the start of the video, the ferry was going the wrong way, was this footage from another day. Excellent video as always. Thank you.
Thoroughly enjoyed that video, Nick. I think we will be doing that trip next time home. Can you get a bevvie onboard? Can't believe you almost forgot the name of the Bob Latchford lock at the end 😀
it's an amazing bit of history how much was spent digging out this 35 mile canal to allow trade to flow through........and then someone invents a Railway. the business people of the times must have beyond themselves with intolerence.
I was expecting you to go to "The Lowery"? ..Is where the ferry turned around the limit of "THE CRUISE" Nick? . I remember they did a "CRUISE to the LOWERY"..BUT YOU HAD TO GET A BUS BACK to L/Pool. The Manchester Based Passengers got on the ferry trip to L/Pool + got a BUS back to Manchester? I never seen the point of a "HALF CRUISE"?
Brilliant vid. Defo on my list to do. So much history in that part of the North West. great views of Liverpool on the return.
Great documentary. Thank you.
Excellent video, informative commentary, makes this a must do day out. Thanks

I’d love to see a ferry service like this operating from Salford Quays, connecting with the Ferryport at Birkenhead for the ferries to Dublin
