    Ive owned 6 Boxsters,a cayman and a 911 4S. Now i drive a 2016 Maserati granturismo sport and it is absolutely fantastic. No car has ever made me smile every time i turn it on and change gears like the GT, as i was close to buying the Audi R8 v8, but the maserati made more sense overall

    I can tell you from experience that CDJR dealers will service your ZF transmission. But it's not cheap. I was quoted $980 just for a pan drop service. It does take 6-8 quarts of ZF Lifegard Fluid 8 transmissions fluid at about $15 a quart, plus the cost of a new pan as the filter is integrated in the pan, plus labor to perform the refill procedure. I spent around $250 on the parts and did it myself. Very easy to do, there are guides, but the refill process does take a bit of time.

    • @SailingSVPipedream
      @SailingSVPipedream Місяць тому +6

      @ Actually no, in a lot of the videos I do service items maintenance which had been neglected by previous owners. Changing engine mounts, suspension bushes and stuff is normal on a 16 year old car with 127k miles and were all preventative maintenance apart from the rear tie rod. The other videos are me messing with lowering kits, wheel spacers and little upgrades like brake hoses. The actual car itself has been completely reliable and now with those bits done should be good for many more miles.
      The thing is with almost all modern cars is that the components are made by large common companies. Bosch do a lot of the electrics, Brembo do the brakes, TRW do control arms. People’s perception of reliability more comes from how good the dealers are, service costs and hearsay. Add in people wanting certain truths to be true and it is all just a popularity contest.

    Its hilarious the people commenting negatively about Maserati. You don't see any on the road? Well the biggest year they sold less than 35,000 cars. Mainstream brands sell millions of cars. They are a botique brand. Too many people bought them used and were unwilling to maintain them. My Maserati has a warranty to 145k miles currently has 59k on the clock. Only ever needed fluid changes, tires and brakes. If you do not want to see the Wizard talking about Maserati then do not watch the video and go find videos about your Toyota or whatever. For those on the fence. All cars break as they get older. Moving parts and extreme pressure. Well maintained cars can last a long time. Poorly maintained cars from any brand will eventually fail. Drive what you like and stop whining about what other people like.

It was Jaguar's rebrand as "jaGuar" that made the company the laughing stock of both the car world and the marketing world.
      In case you do not know anything about anything, Maserati is an Italian brand owned by Ferrari, whereas jaGuar is a British brand that is part of Jaguar Land Rover Group (JLR for short), that in turn is owned by Tata Motors of India. I’ve had my Granturismo for 10yrs and it’s now on 84k. Been relatively reliable and it’s a joy to own. I also have a 911 - that’s a great car too. Whilst the 911 is a better all round car the Maserati is a spectacular Grand Tourer. Diss Maserati all you like, won’t change my mind as I’ve actually lived with and driven the car over 1,000s of miles. I adore it.

    The older engine found in the Coupe was prettier and you could see more of it, but the pedal positions didn't suit folk over 5ft 8in. The first Gran Turismo was a joy of leather and more spacious than a DB9 but anything Masserati is potentially more expensive to run outside warranty than a Ferrari.

    Even though it was a California, I'd still call it a a pretty serious downgrade. As bad as that trade was, I got one that's way worse... A friend of the family had a beautiful black Cadillac CTS-V wagon with the 6sp manual. It just sat in the garage of his vacation home, so it was virtually new. One day, he got a wild hair and decided to trade it in for this exact same model of Masarati and worst of all, he paid another 30 some thousand on top of the trade! That's just mind-boggling and kinda makes me wanna puke!!!

    An interesting choice. Diesels are rolling NOx failures. That's why they have elaborate EGR systems and Def Blue exhaust treatment. Diesel is a relatively large molecule below kerosene (jet fuel) and gasoline on the distillate scale. It means there are a number of atoms along for the ride leaving a toxic mess contributing zero to combustion. It is used in locomotives and it is ubiquitous in marine applications. Cannot recommend a diesel car in 21st Century North America. Take the Maserati.

    • @georgebettiol8338
      @georgebettiol8338 Місяць тому

      Whilst diesel engines produce more NOx than a similar petrol (US gas) engine, the significant issue with modern diesel engines is the size of the particlates generated where the majority are less that 10 µm - a particulate size that are inhalable into the lungs and can induce adverse health effects. To help address the aforesaid, OEMs have fitted particulate filters in all modern diesel engines - an item which is often found to be 'problematic' in terms of vehicle reliability.
      Paradoxically, old generation low power diesel engines that produce lots of smoke and soot are less damaging to ones' health because the majority of the particulate size produced is larger than 10 µm and can be to some extent filtered by a human respiratory tract.
