    I believe the emperor allowed the mechanicus to exist for the same reason he created the thunder warriors, a means to an ultimate end. in time, he would have eventually regained or created anew the strength and technological power to render them obsolete to humanity as a whole, and when that milestone was reached, the mechanicus would have been eliminated just as the thunder warriors were, once their usefulness was outlived, and they could only hinder the imperium from then on.

      You just described the plan for the entire imperial military. Emperor only planned on keeping custodes in the end . Everything else was a tool for a job . Space Marines know this tho . They say they live to die for the emperor until the day comes they are no longer needed . That's in almost every marine codex fluff . Yet people act as if the Marines do not know . Yet they do and accept they are purpose built. The thing is , they want their contribution remembered.
      An that's what the empire did to Thunder warriors . He struck them from history as he did with missing primarchs. An also the traitor legions. It's not death at the emperor hands that fear the space Marines. It was being erased and or having their deeds told as lies to subjugate population. They did not mind subjugating population to be clear . It's the lies about their deeds and them being erased that they had a problem with . I believe it was a honor thing.

    • @rhino2960
      @rhino2960 2 роки тому +2

      @@charliehill7076 the key difference with the space marines from other elements, is they have been informed from day 1, what their ultimate purpose is, the emperor made a mistake with the thunder warriors, they were a means to an end but one that was not thought all the way through, he either didn't consider what to do with them when they weren't needed anymore, or he thought it better they didn't know lest they rebel, and cause him even more problems before the imperium was even off the ground. with the space marines he's trying the other approach, making sure they know their ultimate fate is to die in service to the imperium, and the emprror.

      @@rhino2960 custodes killed them . Didn't give anyone the option. Valdor I believe is his name said as much . Emp didn't say yea or nay . It was done . Something happened in a battle. An well they didn't come back . It was worded as a execution. It's in one of g.w books . In my opinion they had some kind of mass melt down in a battle. An well the custodes finished them . An what we see now is the explaining. An it's secrets that we citizens can not know . ( Choas )

      @@charliehill7076 The Custodes don't so much as breath without express permission from the Emperor. Only in the most recent days do they obey Guilliman as an extension of the Emperor since his reawakening, and even then there's mental gymnastics and justifications for why they listen to him at all.
      The Emperor ordered the deaths of the Thunder Warriors (my favorite boys) at the hands of his Custodes. Surviving Thunder Warriors have said so themselves. One minute the Custodes were supporting them in battle, the next moment they surrounded the Thunder Warriors. Very few escaped what happened next.

    The Dreadnoughts have been a staple within the Space Marines Legions, and the Leviathan Dreadnoughts have been the most powerful weapons available for the Legions to crush any enemy in their way. The Dreadnoughts have been come to be consider a honor for grievous wounded Space Marine to be entombed into the chassis of a Dreadnought, and to provide firepower and support to their brothers within one of the Imperium finest war machine can be no greater honor than to serve even in death. Even now the Leviathan Dreadnoughts are considered to be one of the most powerful weapons left from the Great Crusade era, but even facing new threats like the Tyranids and Necrons they will still crushed them in their way under heavy metal heels.

    I agree with Baldermort. I think the Emperor would have fallen back had the Great Crusade succeeded. And I think he would have chosen Sanguinius as his "successor"--for lack of a better word--to 'lead' the Imperium into a new form. Sanguinius alone could have convinced--by hook or by crook--the other Primarches to follow him. Sanguinius alone would have advocated for humanity's self actualization and freedom. Certainly, yes other Primarches would have wanted humans to explore and experiment--Magnus and Guilliman come to mind for example--but they would have wanted a hand in matters. They would have wanted more control than Sanguinius.
    Sanguinius always used a gentle hand with his own sons, and encouraged them to grow in their own personal ways. Guilliman was the only other Primarch to suggest his sons learn more than magic or warfare, but Guilliman needed control in a way that few other Primarches did. He wrote a text that controlled his sons and his nephews well beyond his "death", for example.
    The question I think most would have is "Why not Horus? Did the Emperor not love him the most?" And I think Horus' tragic flaw is one the Emperor knew all too well. Horus had pride in abundance. He couldn't have allowed humanity to evolve beyond the need for Primaches. He couldn't truly accept being unnecessary. Sanguinius also feared being unnecessary, but prepared his sons and himself to pursue the art as a way to leave their mark on the galaxy beyond simply being Astartes.

    You can say the same if several legions as you did with the thunder warriors. And he did specifically demand that humans rules the imperium, not the primarchs or space marines. And humanity took over a good chunk of the galaxy in the dark age. It isn’t out of the question to think that he would tie up another inhuman loos end when technology and industry could let normal humans compete.

      Maybe, once Mechanicum and other such threats were handled and true peace occured he would just wait. Maybe that was to be the Heresy, which Legions could survive in peave, those that eventually could not would be handled by the others. Then he would know for sure that he could leave humanity knowing that the Marines that remained were true guardians in war and peace and could be trusted without his tight hold on them.

    In my head canon. The silent king during the war in heavan saw the old ones make the krork and eldar and other races to combat them. As to not be outdone the silent king set off into the beyond galactic void and bio engineered the tyranids and released them into the wilds, the ancient rumored tyranid forms were descendats of his first attempt and when they didnt do it he cast the remainder out to the next galaxy and "forgot" about them. Only to have them be super successful in the next galaxy over and now wanna come show papa how big they grown.

      Yes, if you stood behind the dread it would protect you. But the shields are tiny. Round the dread only.
      It doesn’t work that way. They’re not real engineers anymore. So they couldn’t fix if or fudge it or alter it. They just copy what Is. They don’t really understand it. So the last option is a no chance.

    The thing about the Leviathan Siege Dreadnought that would have really lit a fire under the Mechanicum's ass is that it represents the one thing any monopoly fears most: real competition. The existence of technology like this being developed and manufactured outside of the Mechanicum's control means that not only can someone else do the Mechanicum's job, but because they're not bogged down with all that dogmatic superstitious nonsense others are able to do their job better than they ever could. It would mean they'd have a choice between adapting to stay competitive, or stick to their precious doctrine and let themselves be sidelined into history, or else try and violently stamp out any competition that tries to break their stranglehold, which would bring the wrath of the Imperium down upon them.

    One has to wonder: if, as you say, the Aeldari at the height of their power chose not to venture beyond the galaxy's edge... why? We certainly can't say they lacked for independence, adventure-seeking, or ambition. Personally, I wouldn't be surprised if some daring groups did exactly that: set out on proto-Craftworlds for the nearest galaxies, determined to extend the empire or just simply see what was out there.
    If, indeed, none ever left upon such endeavors, perhaps it was because they had something to fear...?

Either there is so much Tyranids on the way that it will make hive fleet leviathan look like a joke, or something that the Tyranids ate running from.

    • @Vr6Zecke
      @Vr6Zecke 2 роки тому

      Im not sure right now about this ... but i think in the early rulebooks / codex there was a picture of the imperium and the courses of all known craftworld ships where drawn on the map... some of em have some sort of cirlcle/ oval course .. and there have been at least 2 craftworlds whose course lead em out of the "human" known galaxy by far !
      On th other hand of course there are some mentions that , the further u go to the edges of the galaxy the more violent and untamed becomes the warp, wich results in even regular humans loosing their sanity when they travel too far over the "borders", this phenomena occurs even to ship crews traveling only in real space ....but ...im sure some craftworlds have the means and do travel "outside"
