there was a leak from inside. I'd check door seals and windshield urethane for proper sealing. Good news you can replace all that. I've done it with LMR replacement panels.
Dude that’s one of the biggest areas for rust, mine was the same way, driver windows get worked more than anything, I’m sure the weather strip had been replaced, but that driver side window had to be leaking for a long time. I’ve had my car for 3 1/2 years and I’m just now seeing all the little rust gremlins because mine was purchased with a custom paint job... honest mistake but there was so much about the car that made it an attractive buy for me, it’s just a part of it as far as I’m concerned. I do love that LX though, and well worth the effort to make it right.
I had the exact same issue with my 2nd 1988 Gt Hatchback Fox on both floor pans. I had to have them changed and I paid about 150$ USD each back in 2003... Nothing is impossible but that's never fun to find this. Cheers, from Montréal, Canada
I've got a 87 fox that doesn't run and I haven't started to restore it yet, any tips or certain things to check on a fox that has been sitting for 20 years?
Chris, was told by a fellow Canadian that stuff that Ford sprayed on the bottom of the cars is called Ford Abrasion. My 89 Almond has that. Not a fan of it either.
Man seeing this video makes me scared to check my 90 notch 4 cylinder, but ancy to start it before its too late. Man I'd love to paint mine emerald as well!
My recommendation is to remove the left fender and see if the a-pillar in the bottom is rusted out---that is a notorious area for rust, ,that then seeps its way down to floor pan--->usually from a bad windshield sealer, either factory of after replacement of windshield....if is only the floorplan, then easy cut and mig or tig weld. Very nice, coupe....If there are any fox we need to save, those would be the coupes.
Shame about the rust. That would take a lot of water over quite a span. You might check to see if it wasn't the cracked a-pillar pulling it down into the cowl. There might be more to chase. The cracked a-pillar is also a sign that it likely spent time on a prepped surface with slicks so torque boxes might be suspect too. Keen to see where you take the car.
Mine is waaay worse . Don't want to junk it , but don't have the nerve to fix it now . I wish some day Dynacorn or such will step in and make shells for this model .
Let me start off by saying i love mustangs, owning 2 foxbodys more than 20 years ago,and having 2 now(not foxs).the recent popularity of the foxbody turned everybody retarded 80's mustangs although kinda cool now were not much of a car nor well built back then.I cant believe this tin can has rust, and i know the fuckin rattles are part of the experience!😆 At least move to the 2000s at least for love of CHRIST!
Did you get this car from far Eastern Canada( NS ) I looked at I think the same one exactly in Eastern Canada that looked exactly the same with all the same issues and I walked away from it because of the driver floor ,about a month-and-a-half ago I'm from the 905/705
@@TheInfamousProject yes exact same car. The guy that was showing me was a good guy pretty straight forward with everything that he knew . I don't think he knew it was as bad as it was. But I had my hands on it and I could see that the drivers floor was weak and the hole beside the converter that wasn't from cat overheating. The car has great bones aside from that and I would have bought it in a heartbeat but not for the price he was looking for. Can't wait to see what you do with it!
It is hard to find a fox in really good shape I found one for five grand a few years ago and I tell you you get what you pay for it's a piece of crap I wish I would've spent a bit more money in a bit more time it has a bunch of new parts on it and remanufactured engine and a full exhaust system and stuff like that but the frame rail is rotted in the front of it and I do not want to replace it
If you are close or want to bring your car to Maryland . I can fix it . Have built many fox bodies . I am a professional technician and work on hard or time intensive stuff at home .
Thankfully people on the comments mentioned what you found, I just stopped watching. FYI when you keep trying to tease what you found, it becomes annoying. Time is money. Good looking car tho.
I thought the title in the Thumbnail made it pretty clear? With that said, my point of view on this video is what helped me sell the car. I went over all the details and ultimately full transparency = the sale that made me money. So yes we both agree that Time = Money.

Absolutely correct.
Gorgeous car ! Too bad about the rust …glad you’re saving foxes 🦊
over 13 minutes in before you show that it just needs a floor panel.....

Love watching your videos man. A lot of good knowledge. Thank you!

Sorry man for this, but do please post a video of replacing the floor pan, I might have to do that on my own 80 Ghia Fox. Nice Fox though
Wow! Beautiful car though so I am glad you are keeping it! Hoping to find one for myself one day.
That sorry sucker knew that car was rusted out. He got you bro.
Got to check to cowl panel where the wiper control arms sit probably a hole in there rain comes in and is flooding the floor
I agree with dj dev my 89 ssp is cracked on the bottom portion of the cowl behind the dash near the a pillar

Yes I fully intend to investigate and see what the possible cause was/is
I am glad the emerald green is in the right place to be fixed!
easy fix but i guess its bad when you can't churn and burn them flipping to suckers
I feel you my coupe was worst both floor pans both tail lights and my door jambs . 😔it's all better now
I have an identical 92 fox except for the rust 🤷🏼♂️

Them notchbacks are highly sought after so that rust isn't really a big deal🤷♂️

i should would be, but i have no idea how much it will be worth after it's done?

It's 30 year's old man and been up north. You know having rust like that isn't out of the ordinary🤷♂️
Nice car. Not a fan of those wheels on it. Maybe if they were silver or chrome, I think black wheels don’t go well with that colour.

If it was originally from Quebec then it would be the same car

That's why I have no carpet and or padding in my 89.
Would you possibly have a set of 91 convertible black front seat belts for sale?
I don't man sorry
Beautiful car. I’d love a car like that!
You should buy it! Lol

@@TheInfamousProject how much?
@@thinkmopar 15k CAD
Still for sale?
What is the color code on this car?
is the carpet moldy?
Nope
Just rusty...🥴
All that for a floor pan…..
I had same problem in my 88.
If worse comes to worse...there is a bare t top 87 hatch shell on kijiji over priced at 1500 bucks.
T-top cars aren't overpriced at that if its not rusty.
@@DominatorGarage its an empty shell at 1500..so it needs a donar car..so 2 to build 1.how ever much that ends up at for a price..

You forgot to pin the hate comment this time 😁
LMAO 🤣
Those black fake cobra wheels are hideous...that car is begging for some 17" chrome ponies.
More like Weld Draglites😎
