They're genetic. My hair is exactly like his. When I'm in the shower and shake my head dry my coils and curls pop all over my head. The more hydrated my hair is the more my coils and curls pop. My whole head looks like finger coils with no product in it. You can have your natural curl pattern pop too if your hydrate you hair from within.

I get my coils cut in their curly state. No heat in 5 years and my hair is past mid back. I’m too afraid of heat damage at this point. I’m perfectly ok with watching other people get their hair straightened to trim damage though. Reminds me of the old days.
